Kale and/or Bok Choy?

I know these are not on the original protocol, but has anyone eaten kale or baby bok choy while on P2? Our produce selection isn't the greatest, and I'm cabbaged, spinached, celeried, and cucumbered out ...

I have eaten bok choy a lot (it IS Chinese "cabbage" after all ) and I have a friend who eats kale. I bought a bag this round but never got around to making it because 1) I'm not sure how to cook it and 2) it has an enormous number of calories in it--100 calories for a 200g portion. I will probably just bake it with oil and s&p now that I am in P3...

Those veggies were around and available when the protocol was written, especially kale, and yet Simeons specifically chose not to include it. I bow to his wisdom and experience on these issues and just continue with on-plan veggies. I have heard bok choy, in particular can be a staller for some people.

I just had bok choy today (3 oz). I haven't had any problems with it. The company that I bought my hcg from said that it was acceptable because it's in the cabbage family, however Brussel sprouts are not okay. I'm pretty sure that Brussel sprouts are little cabbages, but they specifically said that I could have bok choy but not Brussels.

I am a first rounder of HCG. I can not claim to know the answer to your question and I know there are veterans out there that can answer better than me. I can only tell you my personal experience.

I ate Kale for my veggie everyday for the last 30 days of P2 for lunch. I used hhcg and did a 70 day instead of 40 day P2. I would buy a whole bunch of fresh kale and boil it in a big chili pot of water. I would put it in a big tupperware container and just grab a handful for my lunch. I would heat my chicken and kale in the microwave and poor a little bit of braggs liquid aminos and apple cider vinegar over the kale for seasoning and eat spicy brown mustard with my chicken. I personally never had a stall from the kale but just your typical stalls through out the phase that everyone gets.

I don't know if this is something that would work for you or not. You would have to make that judgement call. Kale is the only thing that I did off protocol. I never cheated on P2 and followed protocol except for the kale. I just could not look at asparagus anymore. Still can't LOL.

I roasted kale with Tilapia and a Roma tomato (fruit serving) for dinner last night an was down another 1 1/4 pounds this morning, so it looks like it worked for me at least this once.
