There's a great quote that says, "Fear the bread, not the butter." Our bodies need more fat and protein and less carbs, starch and sugar.
It's not the fat and protein that you should fear in P3, but you must watch against too much cheese (like I can't eat orange/yellow cheeses) and nuts and sweeter fruits. I eat berries, and make a lot of fun foods in P3 (most induction friendly foods are ok) and you can add to that berries, grapefruit and apples since they are lower in sugar. For me P3 is mostly going to be my WOE (way of eating). It works for me and there is plenty of variety. There are great recipe websites, and recipes can be found here too. I really have to watch my sweets at first too, even in the LC. There are some great books and videos. I've heard that Wheat Belly (a book) and Fat Head (a video) are good at explaining the many reasons the establishment is wrong on low fat, more exercise theory to maintain health. I have not read or watched either so I'm not endorsing them but I've read people talk about them a lot.

We aren't supposed to post links. I'm looking now, and it looks like you have to purchase it. I will keep looking to see if it's free, then give you some key words to find it on the web (if I find it).
By the way, I never eat potatoes or rice now, I love cauliflower and turnips as great substitutes. There are some amazing recipes out there! |

Berta - you know NO potatoes or bread in P3, right? Just want to make sure... Also on the length of time and dosing at the end, any time after 21 days of dosing, you can stop dosing, do two more 500 calorie days WITHOUT the hhcg (3 more days for rx), then switch to P3. So whether your last dose day (LDD) is day 28, day 30 or day 22 for that matter, you do two days after that vlc. HTH p.s. ETA, in P4, I eat potatoes, sweet potatoes, and rice with no problems (usually). Pasta and bread are problems but the others not as much... Last edited by shelbyla; 05-12-2012 at 03:12 PM.. |

Shelby, lucky you. My carbs in P4 that didn't cause weight gain were oatmeal, fiber one cereal and beans. Potatoes and pasta made me gain :-( I will try sweet potatoes this next time though. I am in maintenance for 3 months this time between R3 and 4 and I'm on Rx.

STS today...was in an all morning meeting till 1pm then an hour to drive home, dropping off 2 folks. Out to dinner with Mom..and Dad and DH..asked to replace the potatoes and veggies with a side salad and they complied...life is getting easier on P2, because I'm willing to ask.
Made it to the pool after dinner out and walked 65 min with friends...been feeling better daily. DD of one of my walking friends is on hCG and has lost 25...so Friend and DD are pleased...I'm glad we had talked about it...so she could be supportive with her DD.Life is good. ![]() |

Morning chicas! Happy Mother's Day to all! Careful with your brunch today sunflower. If you stick to low carb, P3 foods, you will probably fare the best! Have fun!
![]() Had a date last night with The Dude. We went to a movie and he was threatening to force-feed me popcorn with butter and gave me all kinds of grief about not wanting to have an alcoholic drink with him. Anyway, as a reward for my virtuosity, the scale dropped me another 2.3 this morning. Take THAT Dude! I am still living the wonders of week 1, obviously! Now on to week two and minimal losses. Day 9 so 12 more days to go. I would love to hit my goal this week then use my final week as a reshaping week where I "set" the new weight. In case folks haven't heard of this, this is where you slowly increase calories until you stop losing, and hold your goal weight until the end of your round.Today is yoga so I expect either tomorrow or Tuesday, I'll see a bump up on the scale. I'll live with it as I am only a little over 3 pounds from where I want to be right now. |

Shelby,
Thanks for the info on setting you're weight when you get to goal. I hadn't heard of that. Pretty cool. And congrats on being 3 pounds away from your goal! Fantastic! Well the scale finally moved for me today after three days of STS. I was down .5. We're on the downward move again. Happy mothers day, everyone! |

Well this is my first time of going off protocol and I mean I went off
.So we will have upward weigh in, in the morning. ![]() I was feeling a bit blue as my daughter didn't send a card or call NOTHING. Plus she only lives an hour and half away from us. I guess I am a big baby but it really hurts my feelings and so eating out feeling depressed wasn't a good thing for me today.![]() So now I have to pay the consequences. ![]() Last edited by Berta48; 05-13-2012 at 12:02 PM.. |

You're not being a big baby - I'd feel hurt too if my daughter did that. Just try and hang in there with the weight loss plan. I've been trying to lose weight since last June and I've fallen off the wagon plenty of times. All you can do is pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back on plan. You can do it - just take 1 day at a time, 1 meal at a time. We're here for you if you need the moral support. You can do this! ![]()

She just thinks I don't have any business telling her anything. As she is an adult now. So I have learned to just keep my mouth shut.BUT it's hard sometimes when I know she is on the wrong road and maybe getting hurt or worse..She is a wonderful mom and great lady just that she doesn't think I need to know any of her business.I've told her it's not that I'm trying to be nosey.I just want to know how she is.She did call me later today and we were taking a nap so she left a voice mail.So that helped alot. ![]() So NOT looking forward to weighing in tomorrow ![]() |

I'm sorry Berta! Wow, that is very painful! I'm glad she left a message. My son did not tell me anything, make a card or anything, so I asked him why. He forgot. He then did give me a hug and wish me a Happy Mother's Day. My daughter gave a gorgeous gift and card and my son a really funny card. We had a nice LC meal together (grilled steak, cauli au gratin, awesome salad, cheesecake and fudge). It was really nice because we had my mom and my step-father over with us.
You will get right back on the wagon. It may take a few days, but I know you are strong, and you CAN DO THIS! Lots of love and hugs sweet lady! I STS today at 168.0 (3 days in a row). Still just half a pound over my LIW. I did eat a little more today (all P3 foods) so that may make me go up a little tomorrow. We'll see. I did stop myself from eating any seconds today. I could've eaten more cheesecake and fudge, but I only had small portions. Shelby, way to ROCK the scale sweetie, and THE DUDE will have to get over it...LOL! WTG ladies! You are all doing so well! |

Berta, glad to hear your daughter called later. I'm glad you felt better.
On VLCD11 and I am down .5 this morning. That means I am 1 pound below my lowest weight last summer. I feel like I got past a sticking point, so that is cool! Had a great Mother's Day yesterday. My 4-year-old daughter danced with her little troop in both services at church and my parents and mother-in-law were there too see her. Then we all went to Panera Bread for lunch. My sister told me this is the only place she can eat on the VLCD days and still lose weight. I got the Caesar salad with no cheese, croutons, or dressing and brought my own dressing. And of course ordered the apple instead of the bread that goes with it. It was so good! My mom is also doing HCG with me, so she ordered the same thing.

All I had was a tiny salad (removed the carrots), some steak filled with spinach and cheese and a tiny bit of veggies. It was not buffet style and I passed up the pasta. For dinner, we went to a buffet pizza place (moms were free!) and I ate a salad and pizza toppings. I was up .6 today, back to yesterday's weight, and I'm okay with that. Back on HHCG and P2 today. |
