Restaurants
What do you do when you have no choice but to eat out...My husband was real patient the 1st 2 weeks but now he wants to go out again...Every restaurant does not have good choices as a matter of fact very few do

Choose a restaurant that offers beef steak or shrimp, chicken is often injected with sugar/starch.
Order your steak or shrimp with NO BUTTER OR OIL be very adamant about this. Tell them you know it will be dry and that is how you WANT it.. tell them you cannot have any oil/butter/anything used while it is prepared. Then order a Romain salad.. most restaurants that would be a Cesar salad with NO dress, NO croutons and NO parm. Take your own dressing in your purse. OR ask for plain vinegar OR lemon wedges. If the restaurant serves asparagus, you can order it once again with no oil or butter or bacon bits on top. When the steak comes cut off a piece about the size of what you are used to seeing your meat after cooking and immediately put the rest in a to-go box so you are not tempted to eat any more than you should. Drink water or unsweetened tea with the artificial sweetener of your choice.

When out on P2 I have gone to choosing steak. I once went out to Outback for dinner and ate steak (only 4 oz, ordered the 8 oz and took the other half home) and lettuce. When asked what dressing, I said none. I definitely got a look from the waitress, but got my lettuce plain, nothing else on it. It was winter and snowing outside so I also had decaf coffee. It is doable to eat out on P2, some just prefer not to. I would love to order shrimp at a restaurant, but wherever I go on P2 the only shrimp available is fried.

Personally, I would tell your husband to be respectful and supportive of you and that it's only for a very limited time that your food choices are so restrictive. If that doesn't work, then yeah, shrimp cocktail or grilled chicken with no oil or butter. And steamed asparagus or a side salad with lemon juice as dressing. |

Well we were out of town and to complicate it even more I am a vegetarian...I thought I might have shrimp but we went to Ruby Tuesdays and I had plain spaghetti squash and asparagus under 200 calories for both of them and I was fine with it..and he was happy..So it was cool

I travel for work, so have done 10 days straight with just hotel/restaurant food. I do always get a tiny fridge and fill it up with appples, non fat cottage cheese, or loading foods. But when it comes to the restaurant meals, here is hat I order:
(always repeating "NO OIL ON ANYTHING PLEASE - INCLUDING PREPARATION" - Caesar Salad with chicken; with the lettuce, (or spinach), and chicken only - Very lean filet mignon, and a steamed veggie like asparagus - Side salad with chicken breast - no oil used in preparation. (Can substitute fish) - Shrimp cocktail, sauce on side, with side salad. I just use lemons and salt as dressing. I don't care much for vinegar. Sometimes I'll use salsa. |
