Any ideas re cholesterol settling down after HCG?
I know that having one's cholesterol checked while on HCG is not a good idea. I finished drops on March 26th, and had my bloodwork done last Wednesday, the 11th, so about 2 weeks and a couple of days.
My total cholesterol was high. LDL was elevated, HDL was good, tryglycerides were good and ratio was pretty good. I won't give numbers since Canadian numbers are different than US numbers. I've told my doctor what I eat, which is much better than how I was eating a year ago, I've lost 50 pounds and I told her how, etc. She's wanting to send me to a dietician, which is fine. And also muttering about medication, which is not so fine. While I'm not looking for medical advice, I know others have had their cholesterol numbers improve and I"m wondering if I should have waited a while before having my bloodwork done. Anybody have any experience with whether cholesterol should be "normal" (for me) within a few weeks or . . . Thanks in advance. HOpe my question is not confusing. |

From what I have read repeatedly, the HCG is not effecting the testing. What is happening is your body is changing, healing as you cut out the carbage. It is recommended to test about 6 to 9 months after a low carb lifestyle.Which I believe, this protocol supports.
Your total cholesterol is not a good marker to consider. Your LDH and HDl ratio is a good marker to look at I am Leary of dieticians and doctors suggesting statins - I believe in being your own advocate and read, read, read. The main stream society, doctors and nutritionist included, still support low fat eating with a side of statins. Recommended reading is Wheat Belly, all of Dr William Davis' blogs, primal eating web sites, this web site (LCF forums), Atkins, Good Calories/Bad Calories. So many to chose from. Well wishes! |

Thanks muchly. My overall risk is rated low so there would have to be some massive change before I would agree to start on medication.
Good to know the LDL might improve in the next several months. Thanks muchly. |
