Why being petite kinda sucks lol

Just venting...anyone 5'3" and under can chime in...lol

Here is what I have noticed...many people now see me and say "WOW!!! You're skinny now!"... well gee thanks...haha...but it took me losing 30 pounds almost for the change to be noticeable...

For example...I weighed 177 when I decided to make my life change with HCG...some people have asked me well how did you get up there? I think once you hit a certain weight when you are short, you don't notice much within 15-20 pounds over because you kinda stay the same size...like when I weigh 155 on up I am a size 12...I was a size 12 up till 170!!! It wasn't until I broke 170 that I got into a size 13/14...so it's easy (correct me if I am wrong) from what I have gathered from other friends, to gain weight and kinda not notice cuz your clothes still fit and then BAM!!! One day they don't and you are over your weight by 20 pounds!

Now here is the reverse...Once I get closer to my goal weight...just 5 pounds (yes 5 pounds) can put me into another size bracket...either up or down...
If I am close to 150 my size 9's are tight...if I am back at 145, they fit great and some are loose
Which is annoying...but at the same time keeps me accountable. So that means...5 pounds can make or break me....but also 5-10 pounds is noticeable. I'm back to my LDW weight (just 6 pounds lost) and I already have people asking me if I am losing more weight

I am curious to see what happens once I breach the 130's...does that mean I need an ENTIRE new wardrobe?

So yea that's why being petite kinda sucks...LOL

I agree!! But I was thinking about reaching things not so much my weight. I am constantly climbing step stools at work to reach stuff.

But yeah, 5 pounds on me and I am outgrowing my clothing. Frustrating since when I reached goal, I got rid of a lot of big stuff. Now I am not at goal and I HAVE to get back down. Most of my wardrobe is in smaller sizes. I hate wearing such baggy clothing too. I am much more into the body hugging styles because when you are thinner it just looks better. When I gain just a bit of weight, it certainly shows!

Yes!!! Baggy clothes when you are thinner just looks awful...I think it's because our shoulders/neckbone/arms are so much smaller that the clothes just hang in an ill fashioned way!! One lady at work summed it up best, "You look like you are wearing your big sisters clothes" LOL

But I agree, I hate having to ask for either help or stools LOL!!!

I'm just under 5 feet and I know what you ladies mean. When I get clothes that fit everyone thinks I've lost more weight, but I just got stuff that wasn't hanging on me. For me, every 5 pounds is a pants size. AND everything has to be altered....bleh!

So excited to be losing on hcg.... especially with you ladies!

OH, yes Jeanette. I forgot that all my pants are too long. When I lived at home in my younger years, my mom altered my pants so they were not dragging on the floor. Thank heavens for that because now I have holes in my jeans' legs from where they drag on the floor!! I did not appreciate it as much as I should have back then. I am just not petite enough to fit into petites sizes, they are a tad too short, and not regular enough for regular sizes, they are too long. I am right in between! My stats say I am 5'4" but I am just under that, not quite 5'3" and not quite 5'4". I guess I am not quite anything LOL.

Me too Dawn! 5'3 1/2" here. Petite works great except a little short. The good thing about being short is I went from 160 at a 14/16 to 120 size 2/4. So 40 lbs is a LOT of sizes! Of course if I were 5'10, I would have been much taller, I wouldn't have needed to lose the weight!

I'm 5'1", I just found out at the doctor I shrunk 3/4 of an inch. I started out at 300 and used to have to wear a tent. I'm down to 170 but prior I was climbing up to 180 from my low of 155 and gee I just wanted to wear baggy shirts to cover me. My small pants got tight in a 3 lb gain. I have lotsa loose skin around my belly and I have a fear of losing weight to wear that skin will hand down to my knees. I'd love to wear a 6 or 8, but I have this fear.

I am 5'1" and I noticed when I had lost weight last year it took a while for people to notice. I think in part they notice and are afraid of saying anything. I also know sizewise, my clothing was pretty tight when I started, so that probably doesn't help.
As far as petites sizing, I have to hem some petites, just depends on the length that manufacturer is using. I have seen 29" inseam petites which I think is way too long. I end up taking them up if I can't find shorter ones in the stores (that fit ).

For me the only petites that look ok (with heels of course) for dress pants is Ann Taylor Loft...thankfully I find lots of sales online and can buy. But even within that, some size 9's are tight, and some are baggy, some the length is fine, some they make it 30" which is too long!
So frustrating!!!!

The nice part is no one thinks I am a size 9 petite, they think I am a 5/6...but I explain, there is no where to put my hips in a size 5...LOL...43" hips and those buggers do not BUDGE!!!! Alas, what I find now, is baggy in waist, tight on hips...so then I have to get lower rise pants, which then are even tighter on the hip...I give up LOL

Although I'm a towering 5'4" (LOL!) I am so small-framed that I feel like one of you little petites!! I can't carry a lot of weight on these tiny bones!! I try to compensate by getting muscular, and I'm hoping 140 will do me. I'm truly afraid of having to try to maintain 125.

I will join in to this group... at 5'1" yes 5 pounds can make the difference between sizes. I started at 205 and my LDW was in the 140's (ok, barely) so almost 60 pounds made a huge difference. I started in a size 18 that was getting snug and am now pretty comfortably in a 10. My BMI is still 28 and I think I have about another 20 pounds to go. But I can't tell you how many people tell me that I shouldn't lose any more weight. I look in the mirror and think REALLY... how can they say that???? I am glad they think I look better, but there is LOTS more to go!!!

I'm 5'4" (and 227, was 273) and finding it's currently every 10 lbs is a size...cept in my butt...where it seems to be 15 lbs for a size change!

What I've noticed, is at least the sleeve top on shirts has started to come closer to my actual shoulder...instead of down my arm.

Looking forward to 223 so I can say 50 lbs off....and 200...since I feel like I haven't seen that in at least 13 years.

Me too ! 5'2" and petites are sometimes too short and reg's are too long. I did luck out and find levi's at Academy in a petite that fit perfect..

Being short is no fun ! My husband is 6'4" !! haha

<hijack>At least you ladies can drive in high heels! My seat won't go far enough back in my VW so I have to drive barefoot because my foot wont fit!! lol. I guess that's the only downfall of being 5'11"</hijack>

Everything you ladies said about this has been an issue with me! When it comes to pants, though, length can be a huge issue because I have a very long inseam, my legs are long, but my upper body is very short. So dresses and tops do great in petite except in the chest (my new bra size is a US 32J) but pants are hit and miss, with regulars fitting or being an inch too long, but petite pants being an inch too short unless I am wearing flip flops (and sometimes even then!).

Such is life!

I am 5'2 and in kid size 14, actually it would be a 12 but kids don't have hips or butts. Just a case of PMS bloat and I have to pull out my adult clothes (sz 0). I have ranged from 86 to 145 lbs (probably more) and probably hover around 100 lbs, and I only ranged from a kids 10 to a petite 4 maybe a 6 because of my "huge" thighs, but the smaller I got the sizes seems more "sensitive" and noticeable to others. No one ever mentioned anything about me losing my first 25 lbs in 3 months after that people would notice even a 5 lb change when I got under 120.

Steady --- how old are you ??? That seems awfully low weight for you..... I am also 5'2" but when I lost to 117 about 11 years ago, ALL I heard was that I was too thin.

Now I am 134 -- my lowest goal will be 122 I think..

You look really healthy in your avatar pic, just wondered if that is a normal weight for you .

I am 5'2" and I remember feeling fat at 140 and wearing a size 11 in juniors. My lowest weight since I was 18 has been about 169. I hope to be there by the end of May. ))))

I will definitely be buying juniors clothing as I move forward, particularly pants because I have NO hips!

I am 37, I was 34 in that picture. Wow time flies.

Shelby you would be surprised...that was when I was about 90 lbs, actually the week after that vacation I was at my lowest of 86! That is why 110 is too much for me. My bottom half is out proportion, I have wide hips and a bit of a booty.

What I most dislike about being short is BMI! It seems unfair to really short people and athletes (more muscle mass).
