Good day my P2 peeps. This is round 3 for me! I say I'm a strictie, but I've done a few off protocol things:

used some lotion today
put 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla in my baked apple today (microwaved)
ate ground turkey in my P2 chili

I am going to deal with it as it comes tomorrow. So far I've lost 6 pounds (at VLCD5), so I will try not to be nervous for tomorrow's weigh in.

OOOH, I froze some Walden Farm's Caramel Sauce and enjoyed the pure pleasure of it (thanks Sunny).

WTG on losses and staying on protocol especially when cookies are in the wings...

Hmm frozen Waldenses caramel sounds like it is worth trying! Sounds like everyone made it through Friday th 13th without too much trouble. I don't know how Shirley finds the energy to do all that hard work while on the protocol. Props to you!

Has anyone had their hormones checked before? I recently did, and I have very low testosterone and pregnolone. I don't know really what this means. I should have asked more about it at the time, but I was distracted and really I was having the blood work because we thought I was hypothyroid - I am just at the Edge of normal for that I guess, but I am freezing and have very dry skin all
the time. Anyone have experience with this?

Oh ladies, help me feel better about this

I had a horribly stressful, long day that started at 10:30 am doctors appointments for the kids and ended with a potluck where I was providing childcare for ten 4-6 year olds. I went shopping in the middle of this and was so pleased that I was a 12-14 on the bottom (mostly 12) and a medium in stretchy tops, large in buttoned. It was great!

But I am so mentally worn down with P2 and at the very end of the potluck I was sent home with a double chocolate cake. I was screaming at myself in my head and trying to stop, but I still ate half a small piece in crumbs and topping. I feel so terrible that I have ONE DAY of VLCD transition left and NOW I blow it and cheat? After making it through two birthdays and Easter on protocol?

Did I just ruin my stabilization with 200 calories in cake? I feel like a total failure and it is only by the skin of my teeth and sheer determination that I bagged the rest and put it in the freezer to eat sometime in P4. I want to cheat SO badly, but I'm restraining myself.

I am not a cheater, generally I am a super strict protocol gal in everything. But I think my brain justified that I haven't had hCG in two days and so on and so forth. I was below my last dose weight at 167.4, which is great, but did I jut ruin my entire stabilization with this infraction?

Level with me, please. I just feel so guilty . I will move on and finish out the round on plan, with an on plan P3, but I have no idea what kind of damage I might have done (I don't have experience with cheating, I am usually so self controlled!).

Waaaaah!

Arctic mama, Don't beat yourself up over a little indulgence.
Really, life is too short. The extra calories really don't matter when you look at the big picture. This is a doable plan even with an indulgence. Just hop back on. You will see that you were so hard on yourself for nothing. I promise.
I have had periods of strict protocol and have no change in the scale, I have had a cheat on occasion and saw no change in the scale.
My motto is, continue to do what works and you will get the results you want. And I know the HCG Pounds to Inches works. I have lost 20# on this plan and kept it off. I am working on the last 10# this round.
Today is a new day, get back on plan, drink lots of water and go play in the sunshine:-)
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Shirley,
Thanks for asking. Here is what is different about yesterday. A) I had a really hard, really long, (aka: GREAT) workout. B) Had my niece and nephew here too - and did a long bike ride. ALSO started a new bottle of drops! This really concerns me.

Hi Beezy.
I have, and I am trying to remember the symptoms that went with it. I seem to remember lethargy, and some body aches. I'm sure if you google "low testosterone levels in women" you will find out something more reliable.

I am also hypothyroid. DRY skin - oh yeah! That's why I can't wait to get off of P2 and slather with lotion!

Well - I'm all about leveling - but I have to say that I just don't know. But either way, all you can do now is to drink tons of water, and maybe try to up your exercise to burn off some calories. But we are only human, and in the course of things, stuff happens. We just have to learn from it, keep our senses, and move on. On Weight Watchers I did all sorts of things like that.

Also, if it were me, I would now experience all sorts of crazy cravings. I'll never forget the day I had pancakes on P4. In the end, it wasn't about the pancakes and maple syrup, it was about the INSANITY and carb cravings for the following 2 days!

I know that it's natural for us to get upset at ourselves, but try to remember all the good things you have done, and all the progress you have made. You've done a REALLY REALLY hard thing, and you've done very well at it!
There is a saying I like: "One day at a time, NO GUILT, and MOVE ON!"

As for me. I had an hour long, intense, productive, wonderful work out yesterday. I have some new energy enhancing supplements that Shelby recommended. (That girl should SO get a medal). I think they work!! And I had the kids over yesterday; we also did a long bike ride. I lost .2 yesterday. So this is my second day in the 137 pound. Tomorrow is my last dosing day! Looks like 137 will be last dosing weight. I was trying for 135, but more than reach goal, I just wanted to be able to say I gave it everything I had. And I have, with the exception of my insane migraine day.

I started a new bottle of drops too. Either I did too much exercise for the calories, or the new bottle is not good. I was so hungry ALL afternoon and evening!

Being hungry on HCG is a bit new for me. It was sudden, and different, and it really sucked. I am a firm believer in listening to my body. So I had a whole grapefruit, the apple and wasa bread, and upped my serving of lean beef and asparagus.

I'm looking forward to a beautiful day by myself today. I plan to clean some closets, do a long bike ride, and even have some decadent "pleasure reading" (= not for my job...whatever I want) time. Maybe even in the hammock.

Oh! And I think I counted my days wrong before. I get to eat on Wednesday. So, I actually have FOUR MORE DAYS .

Happy Mindful Eating Everyone!

Sweetie, I'm gonna guess you'll be okay. Just stick right back on the protocol for P3. Don't beat yourself up anymore. Done is done.

I've had my Thyroid checked and am now on replacement and feel tons better overall.

Other than that, sorry no experience.

I am down another 1.5 (in spite of the mixed nuts I ate while entertaining guests the other night) and gonna stick with this about another 8 days and then go to P3. I've got a big event on the 28th and I would like to be able to eat low carb. Then work travel kicks in pretty heavily for a month or two. Then maybe another round.

Have a good Saturday.

I had my levels checked last summer... wasn't surprised to find out I'm a MESS!! I have low progesterone, high estrogen, high testosterone, high cortisol at night, low t3, low Vit D, low iron... the list goes on .................. thankfully I was tested by a really great Natualpathic Dr. who is using mostly supplements to try to get me balanced. I am taking a prescribed t3 replacement and was just put on sublingual progesterone. I do feel a lot better with the supp's/med's and weight loss combined. Did they have you start on any hormone replacement therapy?? There is a great yahoo group where the ladies are VERY knowledgeable about thyroid/hormone/adrenal issues look for natural thyroid hormones adrenals when you do the yahoo search. Reading there might provide you with some info to self treat if the doctors are not being helpful enough.. I know that is risky... but then again.. our doctors don't like hcg for the most part too and yet we chose to self treat!

TOTALLY been there done that... you have 2 choices.. ignore it... or correct on Day 1 of phase 3 if you are above the 2 pound window. I have done it both ways... correcting right away is best. If you don't correct... it is REALLY easy to just continue to gain... been there done that!! If you correct right away and kick into strict phase 3 you will be totally fine... so chose your path and stick to it my friend!! You'll do GREAT!!!

I do NOT want to see you stay discouraged... so you MUST go into phase 3 CONFIDENT that you will stabilize NO MATTER WHAT... if you allow this "cheat" to knock you down your body will respond because your brain is telling it there is no hope. You MUST forgive, move on, and work the plan you WILL succeed!!

((((Taryl)))) do not stress, as this will add to your problems. The timing of your cheat is actually not bad at all. I cheated a lot last round (during P2 and on Rx) and amazingly, I stabilized perfectly. I did not cheat in P3 at all. I even lost during P3 and got to 4 pounds below LIW.

You are just struggling because this is not usual for you at all. Trust me as a person who has cheated and survived, you will be fine. Like Winders said, you just never know how it will work out. I've cheated, and LOST before.

Good posts Winders, Red, Moonriver, and Shirley! Enjoyed reading them all!

Red, how do you calculate your days? My doctor said the Rx is actually out of your system in 2 days. i started on April 7th. I have 2 gorging days with hcg, 21 VLCD with hcg (the last day's weight is my LIW), 2 VLCD without hcg, and then I have 1 transition day. On my transition day I am permitted eggs for breakfast (I usually have 3) and I quote "a hunk of cheese and steak for lunch" and the same for dinner. May 1st will be my transition day, and May 2nd will be my first P3 day and BACON!

VLCD1 - 182.0
VLCD2 - 179.0
VLCD3 - 178.0
VLCD4 - 176.5
VLCD5 - 176.0
VLCD6 - 175.0

I am 1.5 pounds away from 60 pounds lost! Woot! Woot!

Thank you ladies, I feel much better today and your encouragement means the world. I am spending today on plan and then enjoying a normal P3 tomorrow. Shirley, I think I'll take your advice if I am up on my LDW and do a steak day, I have everything for it. Two ,ore VLCD meals today and tomorrow morning will tell.

I'm a bit of a planner and stability gal, can we tell? Me and curveballs aren't friends . It amazes me that knowing this about myself I was mercifully spared from the normal I-failed-a-diet-and-now-will-eat-the-house mentality. I have never fallen into that and am grateful!

I'm typing this from bed, but when I get up I'll go face the scale.

Hi Everyone :-)

I am humbly requesting your help. I'm up the crazy tree with this dilemma.

Since yesterday at noon, I have been REALLY hungry. Yesterday morning, I started on a new bottle of drops. I also had a really long, great workout.

Since 1pm yesterday I have been tired, weak, and really hungry!

How can I tell whether the new drops are bad, or if I've actually hit my goal and my body is saying; "You're done!"?

I just don't know what to do. I feel like maybe I should stop dosing now, (2 days early), tough out the next two days, stop exercising, and then eat P3 on Monday.

Or do I stop exercising, keep dosing and see if the hunger goes away? This is just so strange!! The drops are from the same company I've always used. And I didn't change the dosage.

This has been a very sudden change. Nothing gradual. I'm tired. I'm hungry. And I'm undecided what the course of wisdom is because I'm so damn hungry and tired.

Any thoughts?

Girl, I wish I knew what to tell you. Were you one who was trying juicing with P2? If so, perhaps that would boost your energy level. I was hungry (stomach growling, feeling evil hungry) during my last round and I did a fat fast, and it helped. I will let some others chime in here, because I still feel like a newbie.

Sending you hugs though, because being hungry is HORRIBLE!

Scale says 167.6, yesterday was 167.4 and LDW was 168.0. So no scale issues. If I stabilize without adieu I will have dodged the bullet, officially, but things are looking good. It was a small chest and not massive amounts of calories, fortunately!

Reds - it depends on yor body, of course, but I'd lean toward upping your protein to 800 calories total per day, transitioning off the hCG, and doing a P3/P4 refeed/maintain period. Then if you still think you have abnormal fat to go, do a reshaping round. Sometimes a break is what your body needs to release more weight, especially so close to goal. You shouldn't be hungry and at your weight I'd guess it was your metabolism/hitting goal before thinking the drops were bad.

You have all the symptoms of being DONE. Your body is telling you. Read the section in P & I when Dr. S talks about patients who are done losing all their abnormal fat. Hunger is one symptom, weakness, etc.

Have you done 21 days? If so make tomorrow your LDW and start to transition. BUT Dr. S says that if we push the 500 cal we will only gain back what is lost and quickly b/c our body is done. You should do as P & I says and increase your calories to about 800 by adding another protein & veggie/fruit/or grassini. Make yourself a protein for breakfast with one of the other 3 items, then do your normal lunch & dinner. Continue eating this way through your transition days.

If you have NOT done 21 days then you need to increase your calories as stated above and continue hcg with higher calories until you hit 21 then transition, keeping your calories up the entire time.

I have known gals to push it too far and end up VERY weak to the point where it took days to feel right again.. I hate to see that happen to anyone.

You have done AWESOME!!! WTG!!

Thank you, so much, for your support!

I was crazy!

I was starving and obsessed.

I ended up stopping dosing. I did dose this morning, and if I had finished up as scheduled, I would have ended tomorrow evening. So, I am stopping about a day and a half early. Worse things have happened.

And I ate. And ate. Here is what I had:
Apple and melba.
Double portion of P2 chili.
Grapefruit - whole one
Apple and melba
Double portion of lean steak. Double portion of asparagus.

I was completely obsessed with eating. I was HUNGRY. And I mean, HUNGRY. And I didn't have something upsetting happen.

Were the drops bad, or did I hit my limit and use up all the abnormal fat? I'm not sure. I got to 137 - and that's a 137 with some muscle on me now - so maybe I did hit bottom.

Either way, it's done.

I'm truly hoping that when I wake tomorrow I will no longer be obsessed by hunger and I can eat a normal 500 calories. I finally am feeling satisfied this evening. Like I have my sanity back. WOW, when my body reached "empty", it sure did scream loudly!!!

And I'm not going to feel guilty either. For one thing, I hate guilt. For another thing, I chose all P2 foods; could have been worse. I didn't dive into a carton of ice cream or polish off a bag of oreos. And for still another, I did something natural - I ate when I was starving.

I'm mentally prepared for a gain in the morning. A pound I am guessing. And since my last dose was at 8am today, I'll take today's 137.6 as my LDW. End of story.

And Monday I get to start P3, eat bacon and eggs, and slather myself with body butter!

Thanks for being here with me during my panic moment today. It's not how I had planned for this to play out, but life has a funny way of doing such things. I am deeply grateful for all the support here. :-)

Warmly
~Red~

Red seriously.. you did the right thing! If the drops weren't any good you would still be fine.. remember hhcg takes 2 days to leave your system, rx hcg 3 days... so I really think you hit all abnormal fat gone. With all the exercise you do.. that 2 pounds is NOTHING.. especially since you are most likely VERY lean & muscular. I kinda think you will end up needing to eat again tomorrow. And it is OK... Dr. S says extreme hunger will hit when all abnormal fat is gone and he recommends increasing protein and the other VLCD foods to around 800 cals... if I remember correctly... some even do close to 1000.

Like Taryl said.. if you want to still move some fat around you can consider another reshapping round in the future. To do that you take hcg and consume 800-1000 cals a day and the fat will move. You must do the 21 days just like is required for a normal short round.

I'm so glad that you ate and that you feel better!!! AND that you do not feel guilty because you should not.. you could have gotten to the point where you were feeling REALLY sick. I admire you so much for all that you have accomplished... exercising and VLCD... seeing you do it has made me more confident in my choice to continue my routine. Thanks!!

So im new to the hcg gang and im curious about my calorie intake. I started p2 day 1 yesterday and i was under on my calories. But to day i was over on my calories! It was low by 75 yesterday but over by 50 today. Will this be a major set back or am i worried for nothing? I only just now found a web site with calorie amounts so i should be fine now but how do you all do it? It seems like alot of math to get it right and im worried im doing it wrong.

Some of us are stricties and stick with the 500 calories or less and protocol only foods, some use a more rogue menu with higher calories. Honestly I do not believe that one day here or there a titch above 500 will make you any less successful, BUT Dr. S did say 500 or less for the highest level of success.

Have a SUPER first round!!

New and needing some questions answered please.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am wanting to try HCG diet.I have tried every other thing out there.

I have Diabetes 2, low Thyroid, high blood pressure, and on medication for all of that.

Can I still take my meds? I am also taking a estrogen troche. They are dissolved under the tounge. They are made in a Pharmacy and not a pill. The Dr that perscribed them was a vegetarian and very health minded.

I know you can not give medical advise but would appreciate your opinion.

I have read the Pounds and Inches but it is so confusing to me.I read and read and still do not understand. This thread has helped me understand a lot better.

However I am afraid to try HCG as I can't go without my medication.I can go without the makeup as mine is a mineral powder anyway.

If I try it I need to order hemopathic or NON hemopathic? Also someone here somewhere I read it needed to have an X is the higher number the best or does it matter? Also may I use Splenda I can't stand Stevia?

Also wouldn't you loose on 500 calories a day anyway? I read that it is Illegal to sell? That is what the site said and that it was the low calories not the HCG that caused weight loss.
I am so confused??????

Please help me with these questions and I will continue to read these posts.Thank you so much.I really hope I can do this as I am 5 "4" and weigh 269.8. I will be 64 in August and would really like to be normal sized before I die.

So I want to see if I have this right OK?
Day one & two I eat high fat foods.(NOT A PROBLEM)

Then start the HCG drops and eat 500cal a day. Stay on that for 3weeks? Then what do I do and for how long? What is Phase - round1 and PH2 round 2 and Ph3 round3 mean and how long for each Phase? Are all phases three weeks? HELP!!!
I have so much weight to loose over a hundred pounds. How long do you stay on the 500 cal a day until you are at goal or what?

I truly am sorry for all the questions but I REALLY REALLY WANT TO DO THIS!..I love chicken. tilapia, shrimp & steak so I won't have a problem with that. Also tomatoes, cabbage and spincah. Can I eat canned spinach and how much lettuce? And can the cabbage be cooked? I started Spark People and have lost five lbs but I want it to come off faster!

Hi Berta,
Yes, you can take all your meds, and the rest of your questions will be answered here:
HCG diet short form

This thread is where we post our P2 menus, thoughts, and struggles this week.

As for me, I did gain. 1.4. Took a Unisom to sleep, and I slept about 11 hours! I feel healthy again. Composed. Content. I was SO nuts yesterday! Thanks for helping me through that everybody!

Off to get my coffee.

Happy mindful eating everyone!!

Don't laugh, but I feel like I want to go workout. It's been a habit now, and it's almost as if my body craves it. But I'm going to stay home and get some housework done instead.

Berta,

Have you tried NuNaturals Liquid Stevia? Its not bitter and I love it. Its pretty much the only stevia I like. I don't like the powder stuff at all.

Reds,

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

After my long stall, I lost 1.4 lbs yesterday, and this morning when I weighed myself, I was down another 1.4 lbs!

I'm so happy and excited. I'm now 14.2 lbs down in 21 days.

Life is good.

Thank you... THAT explains ALOT However
I have Highlighted what I don't understand will you please explain for me?

Phase 1
Detoxification (optional)

Phase 2 (aka P2)
- Days 1 & 2 - Start hCG injections, drops or pellets and begin high fat, high calorie diet. This is often called "loading" and is an essential step in resetting the body's fat regulating system.

- Days 3-21 ( up to 42 days ) - Continue hCG that is now triggering the body to release stored fat as "food" for the body and supplement with the low calorie diet. The burned fat is providing a constant flow of fuel so you won't feel hungry as pounds & inches melt away.
-[B] Two days for homeopathic and three days for Rx AFTER ending - Continue low calorie diet with NO hCG.[/B

Phase 3 (aka P3)
Metabolism Reset Phase 21 days - Figure your BMR by using an online calculator and multiply by your activity level

Also what number X ? is best to use?
SO actually you are only on HCG for 64 days is this right? I APOLOGIZE BUT THIS PROGRAM IS CONFUSING TO ME

Thank you SOOO VERY much!

Berta,
The bottom line is that this diet is very very effective - but only if you are completely, (like...to the level that you could actually TEACH it), informed.

That means reading the full "Pounds and Inches" - backward and forward.

How long are you on the HCG diet if you are doing it right?

That depends on how long you take for P1.
P2 is 23-40 days - (and it's your choice which kind of hcg to use - HCG OR Hhcg)
P3 is 3 weeks minimum
P4 is 3 weeks minimum.

It looks like you have a question about activity level in P3 - but I don't do that, so I don't have the answer for you on that.

Also, do you know how to use the search function here? I use that like 5 times a day!

This diet WORKS - you'll be amazed at the results. But it does take a lot of self discipline.

Berta,

Phase 1 is optional - meaning you do not have to do a detox period before you start hhcg if you do not want to. Most start the diet with phase 2.

"aka" means "also known as" phase 2 and P2 are the same thing.

Please re-read the link that Red sent you. You are not on the hhcg for 65 days.

Don't worry about it, you will get there.

Shirley, thanks for the tip on the yahoo groups. I had never tried that before yesterday. It is going to take a while to get up to speed on the hormonal/adrenal issue - now that stuff is super complicated! I'm glad there is such a good on,one resource.

Worried for nothing---as long as you stick to the food list that Dr Simeon's lists in his document, Pounds and Inches you are good!!! You don't have to count calories unless you find yourself not losing. As long as you stick with the food list with the correct amounts you will do well!!

And I just sent her here to have her questions answered That thread referenced above is a sticky and questions tend to get overlooked there. Our thread here is for those who are looking to get into P2 and have questions as well as those ON P2 currently. There are many who have hormonal issues that are doing P2 and doing quite well on it!!!

You CAN have Splenda. I use my normal artificial sweeteners while on P2. They don't give me any problems on plan.
