Juicing on P2?

And no, I'm not talking about steroids.

We know a lot of people who are juicing fruit and vegetables with great results after watching "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead." (netflix)

I love it too. It floods the body with phytonutrients! Men, on average, lose a pound a day. In typical Red fashion, I lost four pounds and stopped right there. But I felt AMAZING! We did a week long juice fast twice. We felt so healthy, had so much energy, and I was never hungry because it's not about limiting calories at all. Every time you're hungry, you have another drink, and it actually fills you up! (Hubby lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks; dumb men). (Kidding!!)

I was just wondering, though, if anyone got their 500 calories, in part, with juicing?

The juices wouldn't taste as good, of course, because I would not be able to liberally add fruits to make them taste as good. I know that. My favorite "Mean Green" has 1/3 head of lettuce, a few handfuls of spinach, 6 leaves of kale, 6 of swiss chard, 4 carrots, and then 2 apples, 2 pears, a lime and a kiwi. Makes about a quart of juice. Let me tell you, my energy SOARED, I saw a big difference in my skin, and felt really healthy.

I'd probably hate the taste of a bunch of veggies and just one apple, but I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it.

I haven't try it, but it does sound quite interesting. If you opt to do it, please keep me post it. I'm starting my second round this weekend and could experiment a bit.

Good luck,

Lisy

I have not done it, but I have had Biz's Spinach smoothie. So I think it can be done. Not to a big extent because we are restricted, but I say Go for it!! And then report back and let us know how it goes. I know that my VitaMix can pulverize an apple, so I think that would go well with some greens added in and some cottage cheese for the protein. Hmmm, let us know what combos you try. I would love to know what tastes good together.

The only negative I see is that you will not be getting the fiber from the fruit/veggies which I believe is really important since we have such a small amount of food/nutrients as it is on the VLCD.

yes, I'm going to juice on my P2

Hi,

Wow, this is exactly my question! I've done one good round, strict protocol, and I'm starting my R2 today. Easter...I didn't want to load anymore.

I'm going to go rogue and eat a little protein in the morning and I'm going to juice greens, instead of adding fruit I've found adding stevia to make it taste good, once a day to start and go up to twice a day. I'm also going to add a tsp up to a tblsp of MCT a day.

So, every body is different, and every round is different and it's a matter of finding what works for you.

It would be great if you wanted to do it as well and we could see how it works together.

Lydia

Hi Lydia,
What is "MCT"? This place is Acronym central sometimes!

I did juice yesterday. However, I didn't add stevia. I made two huge juices, tons of greens and one apple each. Somehow I don't picture the stevia making it taste good.
After really really DRAGGING on day 12, I had a long, busy day with family and friends planned yesterday and I needed ENERGY. And BOY did the juices give it to me. I felt like a million bucks! Also, I missed that vibrant feeling from flooding my body with phytonutrients.

As for loss, I cannot say for sure. I stayed the same. But I'm in my last five pounds, and it often takes me 2-3 days to go down a pound. No matter what, I'm really happy because I felt so energetic yesterday and it was nice.

Maybe I'll try some greens with stevia just to keep an open mind. (I added carrots too)

Each of my juices had:
1/3 bunch spinach. 1/4 head boston lettuce. 6 leaves kale. 4 leaves collard greens. some red lettuce. 4 carrots. 1 cucumber. 1 zucchini. 1 apple. 1 lime. Made about a quart.

Normally I add 2 apples, 2 pears, some strawberries, a kiwi to my veggie drinks and it ends up pretty sweet - but I wanted the calories low, and it tasted ok. Had 2 of those yesterday.

I plan to do another juice day either tomorrow or the next day and I'll let you know. So glad you're here! So have you seen the movie too?

been reading around and you are on P2? When you juice, you said on another thread, you don't lose? So what is your experience?

Oh, and I'm starting P2 tomorrow.

We posted at the same time...

Ok, For me...I'm just doing cucumber and and green leaf I can get my hands on with celery. I'm leaving the fruits for my eating apple a meal.

I balked at putting the stevia in myself It was like..."Wha.." Didn't wanna do it...but it works. Maybe some of the fruit flavor stevia might work?

For P2 I would leave out the carrot.

So you only juiced the one time?

Yes, I've seen the movie...made sense and I still want to do HCG. It takes of the fat for me like nothin else.

But the truth is I was floored during the first round of P2. I have lived all my life without enough nutrition...I need more nutrition and I'm going to experiment with juicing.

I'm soooooo glad you created this thread.

Can't wait to see what happens!

sorry for all the posts...just should have done one long one...but I post and think of something else I wanna say...

I saw the movie and I thought, gee, that makes sense. But I know I need protein, so juicing with a hunk o meat a day, my intestines didn't like the sound of that, so protocol with juice so I have fiber from my fruit and veggies, low cal and protein...still a big shot of nutrients.

It's going to bring me up in cal a bit, but there are a group of people who do up to 800 cal a day.

MCT ...medium chain huh, what's the next part...fats. lol Like coconut oil only better....netrition has it.

But the last time I did a grand plan for my P3 I fell so sadly on my face. So, we'll see.

Yes, I just juiced one day. My husband keeps juicing, and I have been craving it like crazy! (If ANYONE would have EVER told me that I would crave juice, let alone one with vegetables, I would have told them they were CRAZY!)

Frankly, I didn't go so far as to work to leave out the carrots or apples. I'll experiment with that. And, like I said, I don't know if it stalls me because I lose so slowly anyway.

Did you see on the JoinTheReboot site how much protein was in those juices? I really had no idea how much protein was involved. Also, from the reading I have done lately, (and movies like "Forks over knives" another great one), the body actually needs less protein than we have thought over the past decades. I've read several medical journals lately that have agreed. (Sadly, because I love me some meat!)

When I started juicing, I saw SO many changes in my body, my thinking, and my skin. So do most people. And when I noticed my skin, I thought, "Wow, if this is what I CAN see, I wonder what is healing that I CAN'T see!" I can't wait until I can have all I want again!

Ok, so my juice today was

Beet greens
Kale
half Lemon, peeled
Celery
Green apple
Tomato
Stevia

I juiced the apple in with it this time and added the stevia after juicing and it did taste yummy.

MCT= Medium Chain Triglycerides. It is what is in coconut oil.

Hi,

Today, I juiced greens and cucumber for lunch along with eating a little salad an apple and chicken. On R1P2 I did really well so it would be great to have losses and still be able to juice. And, as always, I feel good after juicing.

Thanks Red, I did read the protein info on fsnd site.

So, I'm anxious to see how your losses stack up.

I don't regret the day I juiced. I had SO much energy. But I'm in my last five pounds, and I have 9 more days. I don't want to gamble with anything.

Thanks for keeping us updated!!

Juice on!

Day 3

VLCD3 R2 Juiced both days and I've had good losses. Same as the first round. Juicing greens with cucumber and celery, 1/2 lemon, added an apple yesterday. Mixed in a tiny bit of pdr stevia.

Feeling ok. For me I tend to have the worst carb withdrawals days 3 thru 5. Soo, just going to see how it goes.

Well, here's the thing. I'm in my last five pounds. And I'm not a chance taker. It takes almost nothing to make me stall since I'm insulin resistant and historically a slow loser anyway. I'd love to. Maybe I still will. But for now I'm keeping it strict because I don't want to take even one chance with the results. If my energy goes into another nose dive, though, maybe I will change my mind.

I went through a reboot with my BF after he watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. We did the version of juicing + foods for 15 days and it went pretty well. He lost 8 pounds I think and I maintained. UGH MEN!! lol. (several other factors involved.. but still!!!)

I'm following this thread to see how you ladies do in P2!

I never juiced but I was doing a Green Smoothie every other day in my last P2. It was just raw spinach, strawberries, some seltzer or plain water, half a lemon, and some Stevia.

Tasted really good and definitely gave me much-needed energy on a long-ish round. I *heart* green smoothies!

I haven't looked at the reboot protocol so I don't know how this protocol added to one mostly greens juice works out.

Really hungry just now so I'm eating lunch without the juice. I'll juice later this afternoon...that might be a factor...juicing for a snack.

Did notice today that I'm craving salt so I put some celtic sea salt on cucumber with chicken and an apple for lunch. Basic and perfect.

Red, I understand being cautious. I had read on another thread that losses increased slightly for someone like you who is very close to goal.

We'll see how this works for me.

Hi, it was 42 days .... well 44 if you count the brief 2-day interuption I took after day 30. Those smoothies really helped in the later weeks.

Yes, I'm thinking about doing a longer round. I've been seeing fat fast around and thinking I might do that if I stall along the way. Have to do more reading there. Also, It would break up a long round without losing ground. Or a planned interruption. But that kinda...I'm not sure I could do a planned interruption, just knowing me....

And about juicing. I have had a really easy four days of P2. My losses are really good, better than my first round. Overall, it's working well.

Twirl... I've done some longer rounds.

Round 1 57 days: 47 pound loss
Round 2 36 days: 22 pound loss
Round 3 part 1 33 days: 25 pound loss SHOULD have stopped there but did a PI and the next 21 days I just lost and gained the same 5-6 pounds.. I had hit a "normal" BMI and I could NOT get my head in the game, even though I still had obvious fat to lose. Total days of that round were around 54 PLUS a 10 day planned interruption.
Round 4 (current) will be a shorter one 30-35 days.

Long round can be tough to keep your head in the game... IMO. BUT they can be done!! I hope you have a GREAT round!!

Hi,

Ok, you did several longer rounds. You look great.

At this point I'll plan on a longer round and take it day by day.

Thank you!

Day by day is your best bet. Be sure to quit when you feel strong... I've pushed it too far on some rounds only to lose ground fast because I cave and feel like eating the house all at once... and sometimes did.. thus gaining quickly in phase 3.. that is NOT a good idea!!

Hi,

Thanks Shirley, I'll keep that in mind.

My energy is better thn my first round and I am juicing daily. Still staying with green juice and stevia.

This last Monday I ate everything I wanted, thinking back, it wasn't as much as I thought at the time. It was also the only day that I didn't juice. First day after, I stalled, stayed on protocol and added green juice. Second day I gained 2lbs. Today I'm down agian a lb below the binge day. So...I'm not devastated, which is nice.
