Twirl, just curious, are you eating protein as well as juicing?
I'm on P3 now - and I'm dying to make some healthy juices - just a little bummed because I'm not supposed to include the carrots. I usually add like 4 carrots, 2 apples, 2 pears and a PILE of greens to make over a quart of juice. |

We eat carrots in small amounts after week 1 of phase 3 if we are doing great with stabilizing. Usually on salads... but I do not see any danger in trying 1 carrot... see how you do, then increase according to what your body is telling you.

Hi Shirley,
My Bff wishes to do a long round for her first time on Hcg. I did Rx Hcg four years ago on one 60 day round and lost 45 lbs. Although, it was tough at times nearing the last couple of weeks, I had a few cheats. Since you have done both, short and long Phase 2, I am curious, which you would advise for her? I believe she said that she has 80 lbs to lose and I am trying to coach her. She will be doing Opti-Lean. Thanks for any guidance! Oh, and I am Juddding right now with success and plan on keeping at it till I reach goal. It is slow, but since I feel better and am in no hurry, I am enjoying myself while dieting half the time! ![]()

I weighed 222 after I did phase 1 (the detox phase). I had a personal goal of getting off all the babyweight (have 6 children) which would mean I wanted to get 47 pounds off to reach 175. I started to research about those who did long rounds successfully and those that did not (due to cheats). I was VERY determined since it was my first round and easily stayed on track because my average loss was .8 a day. I was blessed and did not see any gains or stalls my first round. IMO, ALL these things contributed to my ability to stay committed until the day I saw 174.4 on the scale. That round was a total of 57 VLCD/hcg. I did do a PI at about day 30 for 10 days, then hopped right back on the VLCD/hcg and did not struggle at all with cheats. I can only give my opinion which is based on my personal experience, those I've helped along the way, and fellow hcger's I've met in my 1 year journey. If I were to go back and do it all again.... I might have made my first round even LONGER. My losses were great, my mood phenomenal, my body felt super, and I was slimming down at a great rate! I had a family vacation that started after day 1 of Phase 4...which is why I chose to transition. PLUS.. I had lost 47 pounds... felt like a completely different person and started to really crave those yummy phase 3 foods (cream, bacon, eggs... MEAT ). I have since met folks that have done 100+ days of VLCD/hcg.. some with a few PI's (Planned Interruptions), some almost straight through. My personal opinion is that rounds of that length can be VERY hard on the body due to the restrictive nature of the nutrients we consume while on the VLCD. Most of us on this journey are women... who are aging.... and have less than optimal thyroid & adrenal health. The VLCD/Hcg is very hard on the adrenals and can push some into adrenal fatigue... those that were already on the verge of it anyway. Please understand I am NOT saying hcg causes adrenal fatigue or the thyroid to crash... I am saying that many of us who are obese have many physical struggles that we are not yet aware of because we have been in denial due to our obesity and propensity to stay away from doctors, or simply because we do not have good physicians who have taken the time to listen to our symptoms as well as test us thoroughly enough to find the sources of some of our struggles. Thus doing an extended round can have nutritional and hormonal consequences. Remember the strict Simeon's diet keeps us just above protein deficiency. I realize this answer is very "deep". BUT these are things worth considering when you are wanting to do a VLCD for an extended period of time. Recently I've expanded my research to include information from Dr. Abbot who created the OWL, a modified Dr. Simeons hcg protocol. He does rounds that last continuously until patients reach goal weight. BUT he allows more calories per day which means most patients do not lose as quickly as the Dr. S strict protocol. He also requires certain supplementation. IMO the most important thing is to really listen to your body. I believe that this protocol allows us to better understand how our body fuctions and what it's needs are. When I work with folks doing long rounds I encourage them often to think about how they are feeling. Are they starting to feel tired, weak, fatigued, EVEN if their losses are still great and there is STILL a lot of abnormal fat left. Sometimes these feelings are our body trying to tell us it is in need of greater nourishment than the protocol allows. Some folks end up thinking of food 24 hours a day... dreaming of it... which is often another sign that it is time to transition. I caution people to not allow a goal to push them too far to the point where they cave the last few days and start eating EVERYTHING in site... this happened to me on my third round which is was foolishly determined to reach a "goal" and my mind an body simply could not handle it. Always end when you feel strong, committed, and confident that you can transition to phase 3 smoothly. I really do not think there is any clear cut answer for ANYTHING we do that is off protocol... it is simply NOT protocol so we run the risk of it NOT working... but each of us has to decide which path to take. I'm VERY excited that you are enjoying JUDDD. My teen daughter is doing JUDDD and is doing great. She lost 4 pounds her first 2 weeks. We are allowing for higher DD's since she is a teen and active. PLUS, she has a desire to really learn balance. She also has struggles with allergies and asthma which she is already seeing improvement in. YEAH!! If I can help further, please feel free to PM me or post again.

Thank you so much!!!
You sound like you have done it exactly as it should be done. I guess I never thought of a Planned Interruption! That may help her to continue. As you probably have seen in your case, it didn't slow you down much, if any! ![]() I know for a fact that JUDDD is a healing way to lose, because if anyone had issues with my metabolism it is me. The best thing about JUDDD is all of the energy that I have and my sleep is sounder than I can every remember. ![]() |

I am going to try and get her to come and join this group for advice and help! She is not very fond of spending time on forums and in fact, it has not been her first choice to use Hcg. She is trying to get ready for a wedding of her son next year and I told her that if she will join JUDDD, she will get it off by this time next year!
I think she is worried that the pace is slower than she is wanting to do. Which in all truth, it is, so maybe she can lose most of her weight on Hcg then transfer on over to JUDDD at some point next fall. Thank you again for your advice! |

You are very welcome. I agree that JUDDD would most likely do the job too. I recommend JUDDD to those folks that simply cannot wrap their head around the strictness of the hcg protocol. Dieting only 1/2 the time is much more doable for most.
Many blessings to you as you continue your journey and help others along theirs too. |
