Phase 2 & eating too little

Hello everyone!!

I'm a week into another round. And I feel like I knew the answer to this a year ago when I learned so much about HCG. And now I can't really remember.

What is the problem with eating too little? There are some times when I have no appetite at all, and my energy and stamina are just fine. (I got my body really healthy before starting).

I feel like I'm breaking a rule when I eat two or three hundred calories only - but I don't remember what it is! Last 2 rounds, I lost very slowly. Usually 2 or 3 days per pound.

So, is eating too little in P2 a bad idea? If so, why?

Most say you have to get in your 500 cal to keep losing, some do better with a little more. I lost better on about 350 average per day, never ate melba, most times only one fruit, always got got in the protein. I lost about 35 lbs in 40 days (2nd time, same pounds), and am currently P3D15, 1 lb below ldw, have been the entire time. YMMV, good luck on your round!

I'd love some more input on this please :-)
(I should have made the title something juicy. Like: "Chocolate, Wine, Fun times, and Salad Dressings.." ...or something :-)

Because there is a point where your body will use muscle for fuel and pull vitamins and nutrients from places it is stored (Calicium from bones and teeth) to conserve the small amount you are giving it.
I don't know why 500 is the majic number, I am sure for some people it will be lower, some higher....

In "Pounds and Inches" Simeons makes it very clear that any item may be omitted but none may be added. If you're not hungry for a meal or item then skip it, but I would not make a habit out of consistently under-eating your P2 calories. At least get your protein in!

Eating too little over a period of time will stall your losses as your body will begin to conserve every calorie it can. That is especially true of protein. Eating according to protocol provides your body with most of the nutrients she needs. Note I say "most". A daily multivitamin will supplement the remainder. Also, if you eat too little over a period of time and your body becomes accustomed to conserving calories and eeking out every bit of nutrient it can, you may find that when you increase calories in P3, you will begin to gain until your body realises it is no longer starving.

I can't find it now, but I remember reading in one version of P&I something along the lines that just as nothing should be added to the diet, neither should anything be subtracted. I don't think skipping a meal item occasionally will hurt, but I certainly would not recommend it over the long haul.

Thank you :-)

I had thought about that - but I am under the impression that the HCG nullifies the body's starvation mechanism. Otherwise, eating 500 calories a day would put us there really quickly!

My opinion is that it channels us toward using the stored fat for fuel; and so we don't go into the starvation mode thing. But, I don't remember where I read that - it was over a year ago.

Thank you for weighing in. I really appreciate it. I have such mixed feelings - because both things make sense to me.

My second time first time in 2010..Did fabulous very often under ate and was very proud of my self but exactly 3 months almost to the day I started had occasional heart palpations which I tried to ignore then a week or so later started to comb my hair and at least 1/3 of my his came out in the comb...So why am I back because the diet works like magic only this time I added a greek fat free yogurt for breakfast and larger portions of veggies so far that it but I am only a week into it...But not eating enough calories doesn't give you enough nourishment for your hair..Take biotin I am taking it now and have taken it daily since that fateful day...Good luck
