WOE: one day at a time!! LC!
Start Date: July 14, 2003 - every day!!
Lildrew- Sorry you're up today. Hope your CD goes well. I've tried JUDDD in the past, but wasn't in the "right place" mentally to give it a fair shake. My DD's were torture, and my UD's were gorge-fests. Heather and Shelby have done very well on it. I was not ready for that discipline when I tried it. I liked the idea of eating anything l wanted on the UD's. I gained 5lbs in 4 weeks . But, if done properly w/ controlled UD's I think it's a great plan.

Shirley- I forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday earlier. I'm so glad you and dh got the chance to celebrate!! I'm also happy you lost more than dh . I totally get that!! Hope your week gets you back down where you want to be. And I wish you success on JUDDD. I think it's great you're serving whole food to your guests. Wish I were one of them. I too am an odd duck at social gatherings b/c of how I eat. I also tend to "conform" and bring baked goods or things we don't usually eat. I did bring a LC cheesecake one time and it was eaten quickly. I didn't tell them is was SF until later .

Theresa- on your day. Hope it actually improves and goes by quickly. on the loss!! You're super stable girl!!

Marie-stable while under Tax stress? That's a win in my book. Hang in there. Almost done!!

Leona-I think the straining is supposed to remove some of the whey and carbs from the yogurt. I don't know what causes the tanginess. Maybe that'll lessen w/ cooling and aging? Hope you like it.

I stocked up on my beloved Voskos GY yesterday. It's on sale , and my guilty pleasure. I was fully expecting to need a CD today (secretly hoping for an excuse to eat it all day!!) but was surprisingly, and happily, down 0.4lbs today!! I ate about 2000 cals yesterday, and at a restaurant, coming off weekend indulgences (fearing that second day effect) and was pleased w/ the scale this morning!! How bad do you think it is to do CD's when you don't really need them? Would it work at getting you to the bottom of your window? Is that a good idea? Or a bad one that a greedy girl wants to do?

Still in my window quite happily. In fact, at the risk of jinxing myself, I haven't been out of my window yet this P3. I did do a CD last week by choice, to get lower in my window before stabilizing. But I am really thrilled w/ how this round has gone!! I am quite happy here in the 140's and am actually hopeful I will be able to maintain this weight. I am still waiting to add more intense exercise until I'm at least a week into P4. I look forward to my zumba class, running (maybe) and lifting weights again!! I can't believe I actually WANT to do it!! And summer is around the corner here in AZ. Shorts, capris, tanks and, gulp, bathing suits are coming!! AHHHH!! Time to tone up!!

Have a great day!!

Well, as you know my week w/o hubby then weekend away netted us a very large gain. Hubby & I did a steak day on Sun: I lost 1.6 (due to cheating), hubby lost 2. Monday we did a protein shake day: I lost 3 pounds, hubby lost 2 (YEAH.. I FINALLY had a day where I lost more than him!! Hee Hee!). Today we are doing an over easy day. I still have 6 more pounds I want to see gone before JUDDDing. Hubby has about 5-6 pounds more too, but that will put him really close to LDW. I'll still be above LDW when I start JUDDDing... unless the CD's are still working then I might just continue to CD my way closer to LDW b/f starting JUDDD. I'm down to where I was before our trip.... now to lose the "hubbies away = stress: weight" that I gained last week Mon - Thurs. Hubby had gained a lot due to his week of travel then our trip.

I'll keep you guys updated on our CD successes... I'm planning on them all working... Positive thinking... RIGHT?!?! :-)

Here is the plan:
Today: Over easy day
Tomorrow (Wed): Greek Yogurt Day
Thursday: Egg day

That will give us a total of 5 CD's in a row. I've chosen to alternate them between meat protein days and dairy protein days. So far so good! If the CD's stop working I'm considering a 3-5 day stint of Atkins Fat Fasting which is usually good for a 1-2 pound a day average loss for me... and is ever so enjoyable eating 1000-1200 calories that are 80-90% FAT... YUMO!

I don't think I told you guys that last week I had some dental work done on Tues while hubby was gone. Well... this dentist did something BAD to one of the teeth she filled. I actually had to take Tylenol with codeine so I could sleep last Tuesday and have had a constant nagging pain, along with horrible shooting pain if I try to chew anything on that side. Today I finally have a vehicle so have an appt at noon to see if she can fix whatever she did... or if I'm going to end up getting it pulled b/c it is too severely damaged. I'm NOT looking forward to this... but I am looking forward to some relief in the pain. This morning it was tough eating the burger/egg. Too much chewing.... Thankfully the GY day tomorrow will give me a break from chewing.

Have a great day everyone!
What's an over easy day?

I'm curious about this as well... I can't imagine it would hurt things unless you're doing them often. Once a week or less seems completely do-able. I'm thinking of doing a cd tomorrow just to get a bit lower in my window as well. Maybe we are a bit greedy!

I am down 1 pound this morning, which I am glad for. I suspect my gain yesterday was from too much sodium. I was looking at my ****** and I had over 2x my RDA of sodium the day before. Oops! Needless to say I am now watching my sodium levels as well. I'm feeling a bit frustrated though. It seems like if I eat anywhere over 1600 calories, even sometimes under, I gain. But 1600 is my maintenance level... should I be trying to eat more than that during P3?

Julie - How are you doing so well and eating so many calories? I know I'd have a gain if I ate 2000 calories in a day (at least I think I would) but I'm so scared to try. Are you seriously burning 2000 calories in a day or is that over your maintenance level of calories? If so, how do you choose WHAT food to go over your calories with? Would it be too much trouble for you to post a sample menu?

Julie, I personally wouldn't do a CD just to get lower in a window. I would choose a "lean day" ---no nuts, dairy, protein, veggies, salad, one fruit - P2++ type. I think the psychological benefits would be good, but I'd be concerned that doing too many CDs unless you're JUDDDing where the sir1 gene gets involved and you're on a schedule of up and downs. What if a person overdoes them and then they become ineffective when really needed? I dunno. I've only been maintaining almost a year now after my low in May 2011 (with one round in the middle this January 2012) so I'm no expert though.

I would agree with you C'Marie. I have heard that too many CD's done too often can eventually stop working. NOW.. that being said, I was the QUEEN of CD's my second round and never had one not work except when my gain was due to sunburn or exercise. I do agree too that the SIRT1 factor is what sets JUDDDing apart from just doing a CD each week because.

So Julie, I'd say if you WANT GY.... just eat it for breaky and a snack, but mix in some other foods that you do really well on in phase 3. Enjoying GY daily is one reason I LOVE phase 3 & 4!!

Leona and over easy day is why you eat 3 - 7 ounce burgers, each one topped with a fried egg. So 1 burger & 1 fried egg for each meal. It is a YUMMY CD... honestly one of my favorites b/c it is SOOOO satisfying and filling. I often eat hamburger and fried egg for breakfast now b/c I love it! I had my one egg & burger at about 7 this morning and was NOT hungry still when I got around to eating lunch at 1.

afternoon everyone! today is an UD and I'm .2 under LIW, i'm cool with that, where I won't "mind" losing weight, I'm happy with being at/around LIW. I was a bit hungry on my DD yesterday but not bad, nothing I wasn't used to the first week of p2 lol. Today I'm full as a tick and with my menu already in sp i'm still missing 450 cals and that's IF I can squeeze in my cream cheese muffin snack

Oh, that does sound good! I'll keep this in mind if I need a cd...

I'm straining my yogurt today. It was just more runny than I was hoping for, and I like the idea of straining out some of those carbs. I'll use the whey to soak some organic pumpkin seeds I've got.

I just finished my big caesar salad w/ 3 HB eggs. I'm stuffed! But I was really ready for lunch. I haven't really been eating a breakfast, I've just been drinking my juice w/ the kefired cream in it. It has kept me satisfied till today. I was feeling weak and really getting hungry when lunch time came around.

Stablility is AWESOME!!!

Heather, have you tried upping your DD calories to see if you continue to stay stable? Just curious?? I know my JUDDD maintenance calories would be quite comfortable. How many weeks have you been doing this now?? I thought you entered phase 3 right around the time I did which is almost 3 weeks ago now.

I've charted out what my DD cal's will look like at 20%, 25%, and 30%. I'm thinking that even if I push the envelope and start at 35% I will kick in the activation of the SIRT1 and then can gradually work my way down. That is why I want to be at my more "stable" weight before I start JUDDDing.

Thanks for the input and advice ladies!! I pretty much did as you suggested. I didn't do a GYCD. I agree that I don't want to become immune to them (like the boy who cried wolf). I haven't been out of my window (yet!!) this round, but if/when I am I'd like it to work!!

I did enjoy my GY w/ strawberries for bfast though. I made some egg salad for lunch (also ) and had a few dark choc covered almonds . Not sure about dinner yet since we'll be out running (drive vball carpool tonight!). I was tempted to try and push it. I guess it's that long running "you must lose weight" mentality that I've had all my life!!

Leona-"Julie - How are you doing so well and eating so many calories? I know I'd have a gain if I ate 2000 calories in a day (at least I think I would) but I'm so scared to try. - Hate to admit it, but that flatters me. I'm still sad that I'm above LDW (my how times have changed. In past rounds I've struggled to get back into my window most of the time.) My recommended cals are about 1800/day. I'm likely not burning much more than that, not back into exercise yet. Waiting until through P4 and stable.

I can't figure out how to copy my ******, so here's my summary from yesterday:
B: coffee, cream, 3 scrambled eggs and cheese, 1 sausage link
L: Turkey, lettuce and cheddar cheese rolled up and dipped in mayo
S: Stevia sweetened frozen yogurt
D: Chicken, pesto, swiss cheese, sauteed onions and roasted tomatoes (insides of a chicken pesto lavosh wrap from Pita Jungle) and a side Greek salad w/ dressing.
2042 cals, 126.5g fat, 83.7g carbs, 156.6g protein.

I'm not sure why I am down a bit today, only 0.4, but still down. Coming off my weekend indulgences (pizza, toast and choc raisins) maybe it's just my body heading back where it was? I hope so at least.

Ironically I was a bit jealous of you!! you seemed to bounce right back from your weekend last week and were below LDW most of the time. Where are you now? I guess eventually you'll have to try to up your cals, at least to your RMR level. I doubt you'll gain from it. You were wtching your ratios pretty carefully, right? Are the numbers coming in where they were before?

Shirley-that over easy day sounds like a winner!! Let us know what the scale thinks of it tomorrow .

Marie-thanks for the advice. I agree. And you've got lots of experience w. all of this!!

Heather-under LDW is all good in my book!!

I'm feeling nice and full now. That egg salad always fills me up. The choc almonds were just silly indulgence. I'm weak I tell ya!!

Oh my word - you have NO idea how glad I am to find this site! I stumbled upon it quite by accident while looking for 'Sugar Free Bacon' ... lol

I am on P3 day 3 - and struggling to wrap my head around eating the GOOD FAT and eating LOTS of meat! I'm happy to read what others are eating ... that helps me UNDERSTAND what I can eat ... lol

I thought I had to wait for P4 to eat Almond Flour!? - hmmmm ...

Hiya and welcome! Did you find your sugar-free bacon? Many kinds that are "low(er) sodium" weirdly are also sugar-free. Here on the west coast, Albertson's and Ralph's/Kroger Low Sodium brands do not have sugar. Weirdly, the Costco Low Sodium doesn't either. And they are all yummy! (Take it from the girl who eats a pound a week! ) Also, you may eat almond flour in P3--it's just that many people wait a little while to add nuts and nut butters/flours because of possible sensitivities.

Hi all! I'm a little over my window today and still taking off the St. Pat's weight but I'll take a 0.6 gain after an UD any old time! Still under 145 which is my true goal.

I also had shirataki noodles for the first time in forever on Sunday night and I have two things to say about those.

1. They are much better than I remember. Maybe it was my technique. Maybe it was the dish (in an Asian chicken stir-fry type thing). But I actually enjoyed them.

2. They do NOT seem to want to "leave the house" iykwim! Good grief! I NEVER have Bernice issues of this sort and I am UNCOMFORTABLE to say the least! Extra magnesium tonight and some cabbage. Hopefully that will move things along... Feeling thinner though and will be coming in right around 650 calories today.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

YEAH on the happy scale day... and UGHH about work... hopefully it won't turn out as bad as it appears so far. :-(

My update...........................

RIGHT?!?! :-)

HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY
What is an Usborne book party???I know that the publisher Usborne has great books!!!

I am ALL over that over easy day! Love me some fried eggs on ANYTHING!
I SO hope your tooth feels better!!Good grief! Pain SUCKS!
I am so glad that you and your husband are doing this together! I am going to try to get my BFF to do a round w/ me when I move back....it should be my 3rd round and I will start it right after our B'days....his is the day before mine!

I had a slight gain this morning 1lb. I'm going to say that maybe it was because I ate late last night since I've noticed that eating late normally doesn't work well with me the next morning.
I'm still not complaining because I'm still within my 2 lb. range. I've eaten GY for breakfast and lunch today and will eat a sensible dinner tonight, just to make sure I stay where I am. Thanks for checking on me girlie!!!

glad your day is over, I have to hold my tongue most the day every day

These are awesome! I halve the recipe and only make 6 at a time and I use the aluminum cupcake wrappers they don't stick to those too bad, this is the basic recipe but there are like 5000 different things/tweaks you can do to these! You can put them in the fridge or freeze them, I didn't really like them thawed
CREAM CHEESE MUFFINS
16 oz cream cheese
2 eggs
1/2 cup splenda (I sub davinci sf vanilla for this)
1 t vanilla (I leave this out cause of ^)
1 T cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350
soften cream cheese
add all the ingredients together and mix well
pour into 12 muffin cups (I get about 3/4 full)
bake for 20 minutes
If you want them to "look pretty" use a water bath for a slightly longer period of time-I personally like the middle to sink a little so my little dollop of sugar free strawberry jelly to sit in

Theresa - your ice cream recipe sounds awesome! It was almost 80 here today, so I've been craving ice cream! I'll have to check it out...my arms could use the work out for sure!

I'm on D5 I think of P3. I'm .4 over LPW...I'm happy with that. I have been enjoying my food and not hungry at all. This morning in fact, I didn't even eat breakfast. Not so good bc I know I need to rev up my cals...but it felt good to not feel the 'need' to eat. Almost made me kinda think I could try this JUDDD thing. My biggest hang up on it though is I think it would be easier to JUDDD during the week, weekends would be tough. Also, I like to make and plan my meals out on Sunday so all I have to do is grab a tupperware and go. So I am concerned also with having to plan multiple meals (lunches for work) depending on my UD's and DD's.

I think I forgot to mention that i got the recipe from Linda's website....but I've seen it done in science classes before. It was tasty!!!

I have been reading everyone's posts on JUDDD....i think I like my food too much lol...but I agree the weekends would be hard. I don't know what your situation is...but I live alone so weekends can get kinda lonely and I'm afraid that if I am in the house bored...I might be tempted to eat more on a DD. Of course, logistically I know I need to not eat out of boredom...but I am a realist...I will be tempted to graze all weekend.

Are you seriously burning 2000 calories in a day or is that over your maintenance level of calories? If so, how do you choose WHAT food to go over your calories with? Would it be too much trouble for you to post a sample menu"

Oh Julie, you're so sweet that you were jealous of me! And you should feel flattered! I've been watching your progress in awe wondering how you're eating so much more than me and not gaining. I still am!

I am going to try to up my calories tomorrow, and my protein and see what that does for me. This would all be a lot easier if DH would stop sabotaging me with wine every night. It's really hard to know what to do when I've got to calculate in the wine, and I'm not very strong when it comes to saying "no" to a good glass of red with my dinner!

I'll see in the morning for sure if I'm going to be brave enough to put my plan in action, but for now the plan is more, more, more.

Hi ladies! Yay for those maintaining, and sorry to those struggling. This thread is MUCH busier than the P2 thread. Don't think I can keep up with personals, but I reading it all!

Today is P3D2 for me, up 1 lb but sill .6 below LDW. Hope it stays the same tomorrow! Loving my GY!

Hope the scale is kind to you all in the morning!

Good Morning all!!!!
Tonya, I am on here multiple times a day and I can't keep up with as many personal responses as I would like! I just hope that everyone knows how much they are loved and appreciated!

Ok MAJOR question....how does one loose a pound one day then gain 4.5 the NEXT?????
Needless to say that was my scale this morning! I did a lot of water yesterday, had cabbage for lunch, though it has never bothered me before....I did make the ice cream w/ the half and half....but my calories appeared to be w/in range?!? I am right at my window and since today is my long long long day with my kiddos I decided to hold out on a cd for just one day...I will go back to my GY tomorrow if it is up. And hopefully it will be as kind to me as it was last time....or maybe I should go home and cook up some chicken thighs in preparation for tomorrow?

What do ya'll think? Should I switch or go back to the GY? They both sound appealing to me! Now that I know I can have my coffee! lol

My parents get here saturday...the house never did get cleaned. My taxes...yeah...not so much! My dad will pitch a fit....even though I am 42. I don't know at what point he is going to stop treating me like I am still 15...we actually have fights about that all the time. He says he does it to protect me...I keep telling him I am an adult, almost 43 and I have made it this far...nagging NEVER sets well with me and i don't like to be micromanaged...hence the problems with my job! So far she hasn't been in my room yet...give her time though...it is only 7:46!

I hope everyone has a super duper day!!! Check back later on in the day!!!

I'm a huge fan too. It was my first time even having GY and I am addicted...I eat it everyday now. By the way, I'm down 1.6 this morning, so I'm back on track again.

Yummy, I'll have to try this tonight. I'm sure I can use splenda instead of truvia/stevia, right? I hate stevia.

NNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!! I'm sorry that the scale didn't work out in your favor this morning. I've found that cabbage does that to me...maybe because it gives me gas and makes me feel really bloated. That was bad during P2 because it was one of the only vegetables that I could have and I loved.

I wouldn't do a CD just yet. When I was up yesterday I simply ate GY for breakfast and lunch and then ate a nice steak w/broccoli for dinner. I was down 1.6 this morning. Of course, I still had my coffee with HWC in the morning. Maybe just try doing something simple like that today.
