thank you , julie....believe it or not...when i started vlcd1 yesterday i was up 14 <cough, gag, cough> from my low it's so frustrating....but, after vlcd1 i was down 3.4.

it's amazing how good i feel after eating a high-ish protein breakfast and a lunch with some fat (30g fat for lunch)! i have allowed for 180 more calories for the rest of the day, but will only eat them if i absolutely need them.

Good evening. I'm sorry I haven't been around. I've been busy without Dh and life has taken over. I'm please with how this month has panned out and I am now at 106 pounds give or take. (only sporadically weighing). That puts me down 14 pounds about. I'm done cleansing and am working on healthy nutrition for my mind and body. I'm going to try to catch up and read back.

hi, cathy!

my rogueness is about the same as usual....600-800 cals...added fat...use all normal hair and body products.

for those adding fat....here's a great smoothie recipe:

1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup sf almond milk
1/4 c coconut milk or 1/4 cup hwc
1 packet wild strawberry crystal light

cal count:

w/ coconut milk 162 cals
w/ hwc 272 cals

so you can adjust it depending on how many cals you have to use. it's very yummy

thank you for asking about noah. he is good! still getting chemo. he's planning on being done on or around june 22nd as long as there are no delays or problems. his hair had grown back during radiation as he wasn't getting all his meds. now that he IS getting all his meds, he had to shave it again as it started coming out again. he handled it very well...so proud of him!

Julie -- I wonder, too, if the cycling will produce a loss -- straight calorie restriction isn't doing it right now, and honestly, I am perfectly happy to maintain here for a bit. I'm tired of fighting to end up at the same place. Maybe if I do another round after cycling for a while I will see results.

I am a leaner 107 than I was though -- that is visually obvious. Even though I haven't been working out per se, I have been doing a lot of walking, lifting, etc., and I build muscle like no-one's business -- so I know I have lost net fat. My arms, in particular, are extremely lean and very vascular -- enough to freak some people out, I'm sure --- lol! I like this look, but I realize it isn't for everyone.

Seriously, I can't complain (well, I could, but it would be silly) -- and boy do I look forward to some good eats for a while.

I am going to approach maintenance diligently, though -- and with the calorie cycling carefully controlled and weight monitored. All this recent up and down has taken the fear out of p3, which is worth its weight in gold, right there.

When you do high fat P2 what are you eating exactly?? I think I do better overall with higher fat too, as long as I dont eat any carbs at all...
Oh no! Rashes suck because it's never quite clear where they came from or when they're going to leave. I'm prone to things like hives and rashes. My skin is ridiculously sensitive. If I rub the back of my neck too vigorously with the bath towel after I shower it will chafe me.

Forget about Slimgenics. You have us!

Nice work with the scale drops, as well as all that exercise
Ground zero indeed. I never thought the horses at this place would be so touchy. It will be very interesting to see them at work once the therapy sessions resume. I'm not sure if I'm going to volunteer to be a side-walker. All this time I've been working under the assumption that it was within the realm of possiblity to be trained and accepted as a Leader. Now it sounds like that isn't an option and that bites, frankly. Not what I had been "led" to believe, but it could just have been me hearing what I wanted to hear. I do that sometimes.

You know all about Lyme so you can empathize with these beasts! And I'd be happy to send this little heat wave your way. Tomorrow is going to be above 80! This is absolutely NUTS. Then rain on either Saturday or Sunday. If Sunday in CT, that will mess with my scheduled trail ride at the stable. If Saturday in Maryland, it will mess with my family's plans to go hang gliding. No body wins in this scenario. I hope the rain is nothing significant.

Thanks for the praise! I need it.

HEY! Welcome back, Carrie! I was just asking Deb about you the other day. Don't think she answered me. How are you guys doing? How's Terri doing these days? Your kids look so adorable in that picture. They both really resemble you. Same pouty lower lip and soft smile.

I'm sorry you got out of hand with your eating but WTG on jumping back on board. It seems to be the "season" for restarting. A lot of us just started in the past few days. I'm trying to keep my plan like you said yours was but it's hard to keep the calories down that low when you are including some fat. I'm trying, though!

And....I can only ignore good advice for so long -- so I am going to maintenance for a while. HCG is going in the freezer, where it may or may not stay potent -- but so be it.

My body seems to love this weight, and honestly, I look good here -- so maintenance it is for now. This seems the ideal place to do it since I believe I have already established this weight as a set point. My body doesn't seem willing to go any lower at the moment, but I also seem to be pretty able to avoid gaining much, and when I do, it comes off easily.

I am going to do a JUDDD/IF-ing plan with p3 foods --

I figure my up days will be around 2000 calories, and my down days somewhere shy of 1000 -- that will average out to about 1500 calories a day, which is about right I think. I hope to get some metabolic and health benefits out of doing this.

I'm starting today with an up day -- late breakfast only, but it was a big one -- balanced fat/protein/carbs. I'll fast for the rest of today, and then tomorrow will be a down day, and I will weigh again on Friday. I'll aim for the two pound window -- but this plan has built in correction days already in it.

This will be an interesting experiment I think -- after all this dieting, I have never mastered maintenance -- so this should be a fun challenge.

My head just isn't in the game to lose those last 7 or so vanity pounds right now -- and that is all they are, vanity pounds -- if I really want to lose them later, I can do another round -- with the hcg, if it is still good -- or with hhcg, of which I have a back stock.

Time, now, to nourish and replenish -- get back on my supplements -- and enjoy some good low carb eatin'! Oh, I see a couple of Linda Sue's and Dana Carpender's recipes in my near future --- yum!!!!!
Yippee!!! Do NOT change your mind! You really need this break! I'm so happy you are going to chill for a while. Much luck and success on your JUDDD/IF'ing journey! (I LOVE LINDA SUE.)

I'm glad the newest rescue birdie is doing well! I got a puppy-fix today when I picked up Cisco from the groomers. Little black LOVE MUFFINS! And all you have to do is pay $1,000. Not me! (They weren't hers, but a good clients.)

MY birdies are loving this weather! They are back outside during the day. When I bring them in for the night, I need to clip their little wings so they can't fly away if they get loose out there.

Wow, guys! I agree with Mini here. Red Hot (G) Mommas! Be proud and wear it with honor. I was a Grandmother to my step-kid's kids and I was only in my 30's. I think it did something to my psyche to be called Grandma at such a young age, but it was the closest thing to having the love of a child that I ever knew.

Cheryl, once I get back on track for a while I will start weighing again. This weekend bumped me up, then I had a bit of a stomach bug yesterday, so don't want any high numbers to deter me. I reckon I will weigh this weekend sometime.

Congrats to all you grandmas to be out there!! What a blessing!
I'll check out your journal. I've never been there before and I guess it's high-time! You really know how to rock a LC P2! I hope you have an excellent weigh-in day when you do decide to step on that scale.

Well.. I guess I am at a selfish stage in life, and dont really want to be around kids ... hoping that will change. DD23 is not happy that I dont want to be a grandma yet... but I still have a teenager at home too.. ugh! LOL

Riley... do you lose an average of 0.5 a day still eating this way with HHCG?
Well, if you still have a teenager in the house, I feel ya. It's not too much to ask for a break in there somewhere! I think you'll change your mind when you meet the new little bugger.

Cheryl- I forgot all about humidity! I hate that even more!! ARGH!! Hope that holds off for you. Sun is one thing, dripping is another!!

Doing well. Just booked our family vacation for early May to Utah. We were going to go back to CO, but decided to do Utah instead, and the timeshare was available for cheap!! We'll be hitting Zion, Bryce and Moab. Always wanted to hike those!! If any of you have been, please share suggestions. I can't wait!! I'll be well into stable P4 by then and hope I can really relax and enjoy myself!!
Yeah! You'd better have a goodly number of years before you become a Granny! Humidity is the worst. You sweat and don't evaporate. Hence, sticky drawers.

How nice to have a time-share! I've been to Zion but not hiking. My hubby was blind and had a partial foot amp so we were kind of sedentary. I would have loved to hike in there, though. How beautiful! I believe there is something called "The Narrows" (or is that on Lake Powell?) As long as you aren't down in there during a flash flood, that would be an amazing hike.

That's great you'll be in P4 by then!

Very, very happy for you. You're going to be feeling so energized in just a few days. You'll be zipping around, bench-pressing dressers and stuff.

Some poor person got mauled by two pit bulls in CT today! I always focus on the report too late to hear how old she was but I thought they said 90! She had surgery and is in the hospital that I used to work at. Lord help her to heal! What a terrible experience. I hope she has no memory of it at all.

I have a very relaxing night and day planned for tomorrow. I cancelled going into the farm's office to work with that lady and I may cancel that altogether. If she can give me stuff to work on from home, I'll still help her out. But I'm doing too much and spending too much time there and it's only going to grow from here. I have to snap out of it.

Cisco looks so gorgeous and feels so silky after her hair cut! I think it must feel really different to her when I pet her because she just takes it all in. I think she knows she's beautiful.

Have a great night tonight, ladies! Hang tough and let's kick some P2 (or JUDDD or whatever) butt!

PS: I bought some brand new bedding today. I can't remember the last time I invested money in bedding! I now have two new pillows, new sheets and a new comforter! (Prices have gone WAY UP! Walmart is not longer cheap.) Tomorrow I will flip the mattress and "go to town" on this bed. Clean dog, pristine new bed.

Cheryl --

Since you are in CT, and working at the stables, PLEASE do regular tick checks on yourself, and get to a doctor ASAP if you get a bite. You don't want Lyme, trust me.

Today turned into more than an up day -- sort of a p3 feast day -- a bit like my loads, except I ate to satisfaction and not beyond. I was just flat-out hungry today. I scrapped the IFing too, in the service of replenishment.

I'm not stressing it, nor am I weighing tomorrow -- I'll do a couple of down days (tomorrow is going to be really down... 500 calories of protein down...), possibly followed by a fat fast, and then weigh on the weekend.

A lot of the research indicates that really sharp caloric spikes are the most effective at revving up the metabolism anyhow -- so we will see how true that is for me.

In any event, I think protein days and regular fat fast days are going to stay on the menu for some time... I love my fat fasts anyhow.

It'll be so nice to get on the scale, see that same number again, and be able to declare it a victory! Guess who is going to do some LC cooking THIS weekend!

Cheryl-go show off your pretty pooch!! and enjoy that "like new" bed!! It's little things like that that make you feel great!!

Mini-glad you enjoyed your day. I think a bit of replenishing is good. And that gnawing, not full feeling will eventually go away. I'm so glad you are doing this!!

I am a bit over on calories today (1900-2000 again), and seem to have fallen into the chocolate covered almonds . I fell hard. They're so good!! I hope all that sugar won't kick my scale tushie tomorrow. I guess we'll see. I'm feeling more empowered to be able and relax and experiment a bit w. my food choices. I do really need to get back to real meals though. Too much GY, cottage cheese, choc almonds I did have leftover P2 chicken lettuce wrap (1.5 serving size) for lunch, so I'm getting plenty of protein.

I am waiting to start back to the gym until P4. Maybe a week into it? We'll see. I'd like to be really stable b/c I retain a LOT of water once I start lifting. I am out of the habit and have likely lost a lot of strength. I like to lift heavy, but will be taking it a bit more slowly, and lightly since I don't want to be too sore.

Have a great night all!!

Mini, I swear, I'm not stalking (LOL!), I just adore you and have been following your (and all the great ladies here) progress almost daily. I just had to pop in and say I'm sooooo glad you've decided to maintain for a while. I don't know much about dieting (based on my results) but I always felt your struggle, and I think you've made a great decision! I look forward to your success and hope to someday be inspired, too!!

Dont EVER let DH "cook" supper!! I didn't feel up to cooking last night and DH said "dont worry about it I'll do it" He rummaged around the kitchen then said "dinners ready!" grilled cheese and SPAM sandwiches (and he knows I dont eat bread in any form)
this morning I'm SNAT (slightly Nausous all the time) and SWOLLEN
my ankles are swollen, my fingers are swollen, my eyes are so puffy I cant hardly see out of them AND I'm back up 1 full pound.

I'm back up to 127 even, waist back up to 30 inches. Have been eating a clean P3, no reason for weight to go up.

There's really nothing to change...need to nourish myself and not "diet" my way down.

According to calories in/out, I maintain at 900 calories for the last week. Hoping this resets soon as I obviously cannot live at that level!

WOE: one day at a time!! LC!
Start Date: July 14, 2003 - every day!!
Paula- You're doing the right thing, even if the scale isn't rewarding your decision. That calories in/calories out thing is a bunch of bunk!! How can nutritionists still stick to that? Hopefully you'll enjoy that metabolic advantage of LC soon. Your body is probably just depleted and taking it all in (in case of another famine ).

Lynne-so good to "see" you! Hope you're doing well (and I agree w. you).

Soon-that's not much gain for all that water retention!! I'm sure you'll be down tomorrow - drink lots of water!!

Dazy-great loss!! Hope you can resist that temptation tonight!! That's hard, the social eating in P2 kills me. I always wish I could go away to an island and eat by myself while on P2!

I'm doing well. Apparently the choc almonds I consumed yesterday (lost count!! ) only brought a lb w. them. I'm 0.6 over LDW today and feeling good!! This has definitely been my best P3 yet. And, since I hope/plan for it to be my last, I'm super glad God saved the best for last!! I'm not really doing anything differently. I was really strict this round, and esp. those 2 non-dosing days. In past rounds I'll confess I cheated a bit that 2nd day, which usually brought me well over my LDW by my first P3 day. Then, being starved and deprived, I over-did the beginning of P3, usually landing me in CDville right away. This round I was careful and controlled, esp. in the beginning, and am actually enjoying it!! I'm trying to celebrate this, right now, b/c who knows what tomorrow or next week will bring!!

WOW! This thread has exploded the past 24 hours, including new (to me) faces. There is no way I can respond to individual posts, but did read them all.

I went super rogue yesterday -- asparagus, green bean salad, venison chili, Greek yogurt w/ cottage cheese sweetened with no sugar French vanilla coffee creamer (not even going to read the ingrredients on that!), grapefruit and a Cuties. Ended up about 600 calories as I'm very careful about fat. Down 1.5 lbs. this morning!!! Come to think of it, the only food item on protocol was the fruit. Yikes!

Cheryl, thanks for your reflections on fat / low calorie. I'd really like to add a bit of fat, but decided that my losses are so good at this point, I'd be stupid to add something that will possibly stall me. I might change my tune next week as I become food bored very easily.

Have a great day everyone.

I should check myself regularly but I don't. I'm not out in grassy areas, just on well-trodden paddocks, run-ins and the wide dirt driveways and paths on the main grounds. But if I end up in "fringe areas" I'll be careful. Living in CT the vast majority of my life kind of makes me lax in that regard. But my dog gets checked everytime she is allowed anywhere other than my yard. I put the tick/flea meds on her once a month. (No flea problem here, thank the Lord.) After I go on that trail ride on Sunday, I'll check myself over good.

You sound happy and content to be where you are right now and that makes me so happy for you. Enjoy the replenishment!

It's been so long since I worked out with weights that I don't even know how it affects me on the scale. Isn't that sad? I know you already posted the results of your little chocolate nut adventure today so I'll comment about that there.

Woohoo! Since you are eating fat this round, can you just scalp a couple pieces of pizza? The wings might not be too bad either, really. As long as they aren't battered like a chicken finger. You might just have a good rogue P2 day with those foods! Can you fast until dinner?

Oh no! He made exactly what HE WANTED to eat for dinner. MEN! I think I would have made my own dinner once I laid my eyes on that spread. I'm sorry you are feeling so putrid today. I hope the ill-effects pass quickly. Keep that man out of the kitchen!

Crap. I'm sorry about that, Paula. The mysteries of the female metabolism. All you can do is your best. That's all any of us can do.

That's great! Still in your window? Confession is good for the soul. I did my first P3 so well that I had no problem stabilizing, either. It really does make a huge difference to go carefully at first and build up slowly.

What's a Cuties? I don't blame you for wanting to do a "wait and see" before you venture into adding fat. We all have to do what we are comfortable doing as a rogue.

I'm down another 1.2 but that's not anything remarkable after Day 2 on P2. I think it was because of my sleep last night. That and I haven't kept calories very low at all. Both days they have been up close to 1000. I will skip the chocolate Ensure that I was drinking (one per day) and that will help a lot. I just wanted to replenish myself at the beginning of this journey. I'll do it with lots of water and vitamins instead.

Going to be a hot one today. I'm going to look at an apartment at 5:30. They are having a showing (like an open house) and I want to see it in person. I saw a bunch of pics and it looks really cute. On the high end of what I can afford, but it includes heat and hot water which ends up to save me about $120/month averaged-out. They want $900 and they allow pets! Two bedrooms and in the town I currently live. Sweet! I don't think they want a new tenant until May 1 and that would be perfect for me. Say a prayer or wish me luck, please!

Hope everyone has a lovely Thursday! If you are feeling less than well, get better soon! Hugs and love all around!

I'm posting here too, since I'm not sure the fat-fasters thread is still alive? : ) Anybody who does fat fast, please let me know if I'm on the right track with my menu... I'm so nervous to try this!

B: 1 oz pecans
S: 2.5 T cocoa crack
L: 2 oz tuna w/2T mayo
S: 1 oz pecans
D: 2oz tuna w/2T mayo

According to fit day (which varies a bit from the calorie counts printed on the actual food I'm using...?) here are my menu stats:

Calories: 1212
Fat: (119g) 85%
Carbs: (10g) 3%
Protein: (35g) 12%

I'm open to any critiquing, and crossing my fingers that I don't gain 5 pounds!

If you are following Dr. S "pounds and inches"
asparagus is legal, vension chili made P2 recipe is legal, cottage cheese is legal and the grapefruit is legal
so you did better than you thought

and I cuties!! (little tiny oranges that are sweet like tangerines)

hi ladies!

day 1 of VLCD today, I loaded my way up to 211. trying not to freak out about it, especially since I remember thinking, back in the day, that you SHOULD gain around 5 lbs in a load. so I'm out of my window by 3.5 lbs. I'd been hanging out at around 207 through p3 and much of p4. I did have a few LDW days that made me stoked, but holding on there was a bit much to ask, apparently. sigh! so two days of 500ish calories is the plan, then expand it to 600-750. two days will hopefully help me get a grip. sigh.

also, garbage sleep this week. ugh! I just can't sleep properly. between the first few days of it being due to being paranoid about de-scabbing my tattoo (plus some residual ache from it), and my neck being a jerk, I haven't had a decent sleep in over a week, and clearly it's making me whiny!

I should probably stop neglecting the kids I'm babysitting and get off the computer. ha! have an awesome day, everyone.

Morning ladies, I did so so yesterday. Did fine until like 6 p.m. and then got hungry, and I could only fixate on the food... I ate about 800 calories, maybe a bit more... and was trying to fast... haha.. i suck at this! LOL

Was only down like 2 this morning, another boo... after first day, but I did not do well, so cannot expect much. Will keep plugging and hope for a better day. I keep trying to tell myself I hate food, but my brain is not buying it!

Sorry about the gain, but I had to laugh! Sounds like a meal my BF would cook up for me. That Spam and cheese probably had lotso sodium so I bet you are retaining some serious water!

For a first day for me, not very good at all. I retain water horribly with loading and usually drop 5 or 6 the first day, but did not eat right, so not overly surprised, but not happy either!!

What is coco crack again? coconut oil and ??

Thanks Erin! So far, I love the food but I really wish I could eat more! (What's new...)

Cat - I make mine out of Coconut Oil, Unsweetened cocoa, Splenda and Torani. I am the biggest chocolate fiend EVER, so I LOVE it and have been waiting so long for P3 (or any other excuse!) so I could have it again!
