Need Advice About Long-ish Rounds
I really want this to be my last round. I know weight seems to come off more slowly as I get smaller though. I've still got time to see how much I can take off in the next few weeks, but after being used to rounds of 25-30 days, I'm expecting I might need closer to 40 or more. I started at 158.3, gained 8 lbs loading, lost that, and now I'm at a net loss of about 1 lb on day 10. I want to get to 145, which I don't think should be unreasonable. (Tell me if you think otherwise.)
Any thoughts on whether I should just plow through... plodding along past the 40 days if needed, or if I should take a little break, start P3, but come right back to P2 after a week or so? And if I do take a break, when I come back to P2, how long should I be on it as a minimum/maximum? |

hhcg or hcg?
My understanding is with hhcg, you can go longer without any issues...and I wish I had the first time but I know of others sho did longer rounds on hhcg (like over 40 days) without problems....since I am not an expert here...I'm hoping those who know better than I chime in...I can share one thing I have noticed about longer rounds...I do much better on them |

Sorry if I was unclear... I have no desire to stop now at D10! No way... I'm still plodding along. I'm just wondering if it's wise to go past 40 days (if need be), or if I suspect I need to go longer, if I should take a little break midway (like stop around day day 40), take a 1-2 week break on P3, and then go back to P2 to lose more?
I'm trying not to get my hopes up - I just know that in the last few rounds, especially since I've been wasting my first week of bigger losses just on loading weight (can't figure out why I'm destined to gain so much loading), I slow down tremendously with weight loss after the first week. I still have just over 12 lbs that I'd like to lose. If last rounds are any indication, 3 lbs/week is about the maximum I can expect from here on out... that's 4 more weeks or 28 days... bringing me right around day 40 - best case scenario. I'm more likely to lose less than 3 lbs/wk though. I don't trust my body to lose better than this at this point. Thus my suspicion that I'll need more than 40 days. |

my question is are you on prescription or homeopathic?
If you are on homeopathic, you can continue without a break. I am pretty sure others have gone beyond the 40 days without a break. You can take a break and go back too, but you can probably go longer without the break My best rounds have been 30 or more days...but I should have done 40 or more on my first (in my opinion) Last edited by beachagain; 03-14-2012 at 11:58 AM.. |

I would say that if you are doing homeopathic, you can go as long as you want or can handle. My first round was 74 days straight. This is my third Round and it has been sloooow going, but worth it.

Hhcg you can go as long as you can stand - but be aware of your own body and possible protein deprivation - I can get there pretty quickly (I have a very high need for protein and not everyone does). If you're on Rx, then common programs/wisdom says no more than about 40 days.
And WOW @ Lidrew - week 5 down 5 pounds! Holy moly, cutie! You're rocking it! |

I'm on hhcg. I take sublingual drops. Ok... So just plow through as long as I can... that's a good plan for now.
Thanks, everyone! C'marie- interesting that you should mention protein deprivation - I wonder if that might be a problem. I am the type of person to crave protein. How else would you sense such deprivation? I'm very tired while I'm on P2... Might that be a sign? That's one thing that makes me wonder if I'd survive a long round without a break. |

My first two rounds were 40 and 50 days and about 40 days into it I just can't do it anymore. I'm sick of the food, obsessing about other healthy non protocol foods that I can't eat. I'm hungry more and more between meals and at night. My protocol meals that used to fill me up don't completely. I don't know if that is protein deprivation or immunity (which I'm not supposed to get on the rx subligual tablets, my dr says), but that is when I end the round.
Generally the first 30 days I'm satisfied with the food and feel like I'm in sync with the program. When that changes it is time for me to stop, although honestly I languish in that state for a week or two more hoping to drop a few more pounds. I'm starting again tomorrow with loading on what I hope will be my final P2 - and a 30 day round max. I'll go to 40 if I need to and if I can, but we will see. My doctor says fatigue and extreme hunger means protein deprivation and has instructed me to increase protein by 2 ounces twice a day for a few days when that happens. It's not protocol though. Just my experience that it does help. |

I'm sticking to basically protocol right now, but I may venture into slightly higher protein servings if I find a need later on, temporarily. If I get really sick of the food, I might throw in a different fruit or veggie that are on some P2 lists (even if not on Simeons'). We'll see... that's just for last resort mode though.
Two weeks into this I'm down 11.3 lbs, but only 2.9 after my load weight was finally gone. This past week was only 2 lbs lost in 7 days. Hopefully I'll get some better weeks coming up. |

I totally went into protein deprivation with my first 90 day round. I noticed it because my usually long and strong nails were very brittle. I craved SO much protein while in p3/p4 because of it. I could not get enough, really. And while most people groan at the thought of steak days, I craved steak darn near every day for a long time!
For my 2nd round, I was prepared and half-way through, I substituted an egg protein shake for one of my fruits. It was only 100 calories and 1 gram of fat and 0 carbs, but 22 grams of protein. It helped avoid the brittle nails and protein cravings.

I have felt that steak day temptation! Sounds so good! I wouldn't want to stop at just 200g for P2 though... I'd love to sink my teeth into 16 oz. of london broil cooked medium... I do feel a little funny if I don't have beef at all in a day though. I was just noticing that. It's like I seriously crave beef as opposed to other proteins. Shrimp and cottage cheese aren't sufficient... and chicken I get so sick of after several days... I love my beef though. I feel so much better when I've got it in my system. It might be a deep part of me - I craved beef when I was pregnant too! You should have seen the size of some of those burgers I ate back then... Kermit would have easily mistaken me for his girl... |

I fantasize about juicy ribeye during P2, it's so sad
![]() And there is a definite physical and mental fatigue factor to longer rounds. I'm convinced shorter rounds are better, though I didn't always feel that way. It just depends on you, your body, and what your goals look like. |

I experienced none of the physical/mental fatigue. In fact, everyone around me commented how happy and full of energy I was throughout both those monster rounds. I made sure to get enough rest, didn't exercise ONCE (lol) and took my multi-vitamin daily. It's a YMMV thing. However, my head was not in it 100% for my second round, and I did cheat every few weeks (P3 style for one meal), and also used my body butters and hair treatments because it was winter, and all that caused me to lose less than in my first round.

My first round was 72 days. It was a cheat-free RX round (my Dr says "immunity" is bogus and that staying on HCG for extended rounds is fine).
I would not stop, if it were me. Just keep going and get 'er done. |

Privatediva, how much did you lose on your 72-day round? You look amazing. I just saw you with your flat belly. I don't think my belly will ever be flat again. Do you exercise? How much?

I lost 46 lbs on my 72 day round, about 4 in between rounds (in P4...weight just dropped and I let it) and another 8 in my second short 'vanity round' that I just finished up. I didn't have any more than that to lose, so it was a really easy round for me. I went the whole 23 days because I do want to 'stick' the reset...but I had lost the lbs after 10 days, so I finished up the round with lots of extra protein. My P3 is going great (and easy) so far.
I have always exercised (but not in P2). I enjoy riding my bike and am fairly athletic. Since my daughter just graduated Army boot camp, we did some P90x together last summer to prepare her for that. I haven't been doing much lately because I just came out of P2 again. But I've started doing push ups and sit ups again, and walking. This summer I'll get on it a little harder. My dance card is pretty full right now and I truly have no time. I *like* exercise though, so I hope to get back as soon as I finish a couple of huge projects. I want to join an indoor pool about the time the outdoor pools open

There is a great book out called Super Simple hcg by Kathleen Barnes. Super Simple HCG Diet
Cronicles her 100 lbs. weight loss in about 8 months using hcg. 700 CALORIES, FF 1/2 & 1/2 in your coffee, 100cal whole wheat rounds or tortillas, occasional popcorn. She was a off protocal but so so do able. I cannot do without cream in my coffee. I lost 15lbs in 22 days. I've kept it off for almost a year now and am starting again tomorrow. Hoping for another 15 lbs. |
