Sugar Alcohols

I was warned! But they have never bothered me before. I had a low carb chocolate bar today (I'm on P3) and my stomach bloated up so much I had to change out of my jeans. My stomach hurts and I'm very gassy. I took a probiotic and am drinking water. Any other suggestions to help this pass? Or just wait it out? Thank god I only had one!

Beano is supposed to help, but you'll also absorb the sugar. Sorry, been there Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever learn.

Sue, we always kept charcoal tablets around and I think they do help absorb the gas. Hope you feel better by now!

Well, they're also good if a child has swallowed something poisonous, until you can get them to the hospital -

"charcoal tablets" I found them when I started having gallbladder problems. They were the only thing that somewhat helped when the attacks hit, at least until the Dr.s took it out

That is good to know in case I decide to try it again! I really would like to be able to eat these candy bars and have heard that if we eat it in smaller doses we can adjust to it without discomfort. Will definitely have charcoal tablets on hand when/if I try it again!

I've never been able to adjust to maltitol or sorbitol in any amount greater than what is in a piece of gum. There was an incident...with Reece's SF PB cups...on a 6 hour plane flight... Oy! I've never had trouble with erythritol or xylitol so I make my own goodies at home.
