Non-food ways to comfort ourselves
I am noticing that even tho I am not experiencing REAL hunger on this WOE, I still want to eat. I have used food to comfort and soothe for far too long now.
I want to find other ways to manage my feelings and make myself feel better. I'm hoping you'll join in. Some ideas: Bubble bath Meditation Mani/pedi A new accessory - necklace, scarf, handbag Massage Book A class just for fun, for a hobby, or to learn something new Journal Learning coping skills: i.e., assertiveness, speaking my truth, setting boundaries What else? |

Lol, well you have already snagged my two main ones;
reading a book a bath.. ringing a good friend visit a friend- someone you can really talk to go for a drive in the country/sit in a park watching a good movie sit in a mall or cafe and people watch (buy a diet drink) go to bed lie down and meditate write in a journal all about your feelings/life Last edited by nola baxter; 02-24-2012 at 09:17 AM.. |

I am the QUEEN of thinking like this, so I totally understand. The main non-food way of comforting myself in this is shopping. You know how much money we save by eating these tiny amounts, never eating out? A lot! My husband and I are huge restaurant eaters. Since I never eat out on P2, I take some of the money and pop it into savings...the rest is spent on clothes and accessories to make me feel skinnier and sexier.

Great thread! The only thing I have to add is EFT (emotional freedom technique) and exercising/yoga. Sometimes if something in particular is bothering me, I'll tap on the acupuncture points for EFT (you can google EFT and learn how to do this completely free).
