Are these fermented veggies??? They look fabulous!! What veggies do you have in your jar?
Our family does fermented dairy, mainly kefir, but I have NOT taken the time to do fermented veggies yet. We do Kombucha in the summer too. We run an organic dairy, beef, chicken, pork, & hen farm. PLUS we try to grow almost all our veggies for our family of 8. So.. even though I'm big into kefir, buttermilk, homemade butter, sometimes make cheese (cheddar & mozz)... I have not been disciplined enough to get serious about fermented veggies. I think part of it is the kimchi I've had was mainly cabbage, carrots and onion... does yours have cuc's in there??? It looks delicious!! ![]() Sorry if I'm asking too many questions or discussing something not appropriate for this thread. Blessings, Shirley - Round 3 VLCD 51 - 25.4 pounds Total hcg loss: 87.8 |

Hopefully they turn out. In the kim-chi I've got nappa cabbage, bok choy, daikon radish, carrot, apple, ginger, garlic, salt and a little bit of whey I strained off some plain yogurt. Today I made some ginger carrots and some cardamom golden beets! I can't wait to try them. Next time I'll have to add cucumber to the kim-chi, that sounds really good too!Wow, I'm a little jealous of the farm and a little not. My dad grew up on a dairy/wheat farm in ND and I know it's TONS of work. But the fresh milk/eggs/meat/veggies would be amazing. Fermenting the veggies is so much easier than canning them, takes way less time, and waaaay less effort. I whipped up the kim-chi last night in less than 2 hours from start to finish, and that included washing all the veggies. Plus I'm slow! ![]()

One of these days I'll get Kimchi down! I know it would be a fabulous addition to our meals to eat even just 1 tbsp at the start of a meal is supposed to aid digestion. :-) I LOVE the veggies and combinations you are fermenting. Please do share which ones you like best and how the combo's and flavors taste once they have fermented. You might already know this but if you buy plain yogurt and strain/drain it in a muslin cloth, you'll end up with Greek Yogurt and can use the whey for your fermenting! Yes, the farm is a lot of work and we don't even work the fields, we are renting and don't rent enough land to make hay too, plus hubby is a full time technology guy. My teen daughter and I milk the cows, my teen sons take care of the calves and pigs, my 8 yr old helps me with the hens... so it is team work! We have a small herd, just enough for us and the locals who care about real food, but still it keeps us busy. We decided to forgo tapping trees for syrup this year. Since hubby and the two oldest teens have done hcg with me, we find we just are not going through as much natural sugars as we used to. We are big stevia users now and that is ok. The littles still use the maple syrup and raw honey that we harvest, but the rest of us don't. We might still do bees this year b/c we sell the honey locally. But syrup is a LOT of work and we just don't want to do it this year. I have enough from last year for us to use a gallon a month in the next year and I will not run out. Lately we've been going through a quart a month at the most. Blessings,. Shirley - Round 3 VLCD 51 - 25.4 pounds Total hcg loss: 87.8 |

Ok, last picture, I promise. I'm just so excited every time I see these colorful jars sitting on my counter. From left to right... kim-chi, ginger carrots, golden beets with cardamom. Yum!
Shirley, I actually did that with the yogurt. I bought some plain organic that was about to expire and strained off the whey. I sent the "cheese" to work with my husband. He's going to use it in place of cream cheese for his meals. (He's away for 48 hours at a time at the fire station.) Your way of life, though very busy, sounds extremely rewarding. You truly seem blessed! What a wonderful way to bring up your children. |

WOW!! You guys are AWESOME losers today!!
![]() ![]() I'm down -1 today weighing in at 146.2... each ounce is virgin territory for me... I've not weighed anything below 155 since I was in 9th grade. So I'm pleased! I may conclude this round any day now... I'm struggling with hunger and don't want to go into my next TOM with cravings AND hunger. So just taking it one day at a time for now. Mornin’ all! VLCD10 here. I’m down .6 today. I pushed the calories yesterday, so I wasn’t expecting any loss- but I’m clear. It’s a cold rainy day in NYC today
Hope I keep a good mood with a smile on my face. Either this hcg or my nuvaring have been making me depressed lately. Can’t pinpoint which one. I’m trying to hang in there though! |

Well this must be the morning for losses, at least for most of us (heatherwagnon and Kari M.
). I'm down 1.4 this AM which is a very nice surprise, I was expecting nothing since that had been the trend for me for so long. I'm much closer to goal now! It just might be attainable... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this loss sticks. Have a great day everyone! |

Just got back from some traveling - saw daughter and family (new granddaughter), a high school girl friend (50 years since we last saw each other! she was snowbirding here in Florida, saw it on Facebook!), and my college dormmate (also snowbirding, different direction here in Florida) ...
Anyway, when I got on the scale this morning I weighed 130#!!! My goal weight! I was worried about gaining weight - even though I tried to eat carefully I'm sure some of the food was not-so-good-for-this-diet - e.g., we went to P.F.Chang's and I got the beef/broccoli - some sort of sticky sauce that likely had fats in it? and served over a bed of rice (which got tangled into the broccoli) - but I guess I managed okay! Well, I'm excited about reaching goal! I plan to continue on with the HCG for a few more days, I want to stabilize before going to P3 - and then I AM GOING TO MAINTAIN AT THIS WEIGHT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!

BONNIE ![]() 5'7" - 68 years old I've been low-carbing since 01/01/1994 (weighed >200#) - reached my goal weight in 1995 (125#) - maintained with a few blips (gaining up to 160#) along the way - lost weight on HCG but hated the no-fat! - seem to be maintaining comfortably with IF and loving it! ... |

Leona... I don't really know what my goal is anymore. I had originally hoped to reach 135... but I did a PI at day 33 and could NOT get my head back in the game after resuming hcg. So basically VLCD 34 (post PI0) through day 47... 13 days I was very rogue doing FF's and finally ended with Fat FEASTING in other words gorging on fat for 2 full days before I cracked. Then had a semi normal day with the exception of eating out (hubbies first day on phase 4 and he wanted to celebrate with Mexican). Anyway, since Monday Feb 20, I've been back on VLCD but am allowing a titch more than 500 cals a day b/c I've been STARVING daily. I have now lost all that I gained with my gorge... and am in virgin territory.
I have enough Rx hcg to go through until about March 8-10... BUT with the hunger I'm experiencing I'm trying to figure out if it is a result of my "cheats" or if it is the hcg telling me I'm DONE. KWIM?? Sometimes we get a ## in our heads that isn't what is best for our bodies and since I've never weighed this, nor less for that matter, in my adult life... I'm trying to figure things out. My losses this week being on the VLCD (about 600 calories) has been almost 4 pounds in 4 days... which is excellent!! I'm thinking I will at LEAST go through until Monday. BUT if the hunger continues Mon might have to be my last day b/c I have TOM coming next week and do not think I can handle hunger like this along with TOM cravings and I want to END STRONG so that I will hopefully stabilize well... even with my rogueness for a couple weeks. BUT nothing in life is guaranteed... but I want to finish strong and transition to phase 3 properly, not at a time where I'm falling apart b/c I'm SOOOO hungry. I was a stricty round 1, round 2, and for the first 33 days of this round. Day 30 at about 150 pounds is when the hunger started and that is why I went into a PI... that and some stress I was going through.. .just needed a break from VLCD. ANYWAY... not sure. I'm 5'6" and large framed. Most guess my weight to be in the 130's or so... even nurses at 2 different Dr.'s offices argued with me when I got on the scale that I could NOT need the scale above 150 and that was when I weighed 160-165. So my body carries this weight well due to my bone structure. I also turn 40 in March, and have had 6 children... so I'm not a spring chicken anymore. Though after losing almost 90 pounds I feel like I'm 20 again! So... I'm taking it one day at a time... today I was 146.2... I'd love to end in the lower 140's if I can do that by Monday I might quit. If by adjusting my Rx dose the hunger subsides by Monday I'll continue on until I run out of Rx which will be sometime between March 8-11. I've always thought I should be around 135..... but when I weighed 235 for 6 yrs after my last baby.. I thought 155 would be a dream come true. Yet when I got to 155... I looked at me and remembered how 'fat' I always felt at that weight during high school & college. 152 and down is a healthy BMI for my height, so I fell really good about that!! Sorry to ramble.... maybe more than you wanted to know... but I guess it explains why I don't have an exact number in mind. BUT this will be my last hcg round. I hope to never have to do another one again. I stabilized like a rock my first round... second round was not that way... but Third time is a charm right?! |

so I'm wondering like you if my body is telling me I'm hungry just cause I'm smaller. I'm still doing the 500 but I'm just hungry lol! I don't know why either, i wasn't this hungry towards the end of my first round, kinda makes me mad, I haven't messed with my rx dose cause I had enough for 32 days and want to at least get through that, i think it takes me to this monday as well. I hope to not do another round as well but i just might in 6 months or so, maybe sooner if I don't stabalize like I hope. Anyhoo I know how ya feel to a T...AWESOME job on all your weight loss you are a spring chicken and 40 is the new 20 remember ![]()
