Any thoughts or advice you guys can give me is greatly appreciated. Should I maybe try a fat fast for a few days? I've never done it before and it kind of scares me, but I want to do something to shake things up.

Thanks for all the support!
I never ate grapefruit on a P2. Is that mainly the fruit you've been eating? Could be part of the problem. The other thing I would recommend is that you only eat when you are hungry. I only eat one meal a day and it's usually late afternoon/early evening. Then I drink a mug of homemade chicken stock or something to give my belly something to work on as I sleep. Works for me, but I like IF.

What are you putting on your salads? What is HCG Salsa? I'm sorry that your hubby isn't exactly (or maybe even close) to what you wish he were. But don't give up hope! My sister said that my bro-in-law actually apologized to her for over-reacting the other day. First apology of their relationship and they've been together for 30+ years. I'd have squeezed one out of him somehow, LONG before now.

Cheryl- My son's name is, ready for this, Dewey. Yes that IS his real name. He's actually Dewey Stephen Dolph V. I couldn't break the tradition eventhough I hate the name. I call him Junior as that's what I called my belly when I was pregnant. I just knew he would be a boy. No one else calls him that but me. I like the seperation of names esp. for facebook as I want people to know which Dewey I'm talking about. My daughter's name is my name (Melanie) and my husband's name (Dewey) smooshed together. We call her Laney most of the time but the little smarty pants that she is will yell at me and tell me to use her REAL name: Delaney Rose Dolph.

Oh and Cheryl, yes farm work is VERY physical. You are getting and amazing workout! DH just said to me he never sweats so much as he does when he's cleaning stalls!

Mini- woot! I hope it sticks also!
Too funny! So what do people call your son? What does he like to be called? I like Laney, too. Regarding farm work, I'm mildly to moderately out of breath the whole time I'm there. I have to make myself stop and rest for a few seconds and I blow my nose, then resume. It's going to get me healthy or kill me! One or the other.

That's awesome! How'd that work out?

Cheryl, have fun with the guitar class tonight. I don't have a musical bone in my body and have no desire to pick up an instrument at all. But I really admire you for wanting to learn. You go girl!
Thanks, Stacey. I'm leaving in just a few minutes for the class. Dusted off the guitar case and tuned the guitar. Got all my accessories packed up and mapquested my route to the school. I'll hopefully get there early enough to hunt down the right classroom. It's an hour and a half long, not an hour. I won't be back until 9:15-ish. I've yet to eat anything other than coffee and cream.

Later, ladies! Busy day and off I go again.

Hike-thanks for the comiseration. I just don't think dh realizes how much I would appreciate a little thoughtfulness on his part. I cook, clean, shop, bake, entertain, buy all gifts for all holidays, plan everything, pay the bills... Sigh. He does love and appreciate me, but woudl it kill him to get me some flowers once in a while? At least your dh is getting you massages instead of something like a vaccuum!!
as for your stall... you're doing an 800 cal protocol, right? How long has it been since your last round? I am doing pretty close to protocol w/ a little rogueness in mixing my veggies, a few onions and bell peppers in there, but overall pretty close. I'm always under 600 cals/day. This round is going better than my others, so far. But, I loaded well and gained 6lbs from that. I'm down that plus 2 more on day 8. I'd like to get back to LDW from last round, and hopefully a bit below that. We'll see.

Hey, down is down, and a different number. We'll count it as a good sign.

Cheryl-I agree, all that work is likely burning some calories. Your story about dh reminded me of my dad, thank you for sharing that with me. He was disabled and couldnt' drive either. He'd have me take him to the store to pick out a card, or just choose a blank one and he'd write something inside. He was very thoughtful and sweet, and I miss him a lot.

Still plugging away. Really enjoying the fruit in my protocol this round. It's not stalling me (yet) and I hope it won't. I'd miss it at this point!!

Oh girl, I've had my share of those kinds of gifts over the years - bike helmet, salad shooter, and the ULTIMATE "what the heck?" gift, an iguana!! The thing that blows my mind is that I actually email him the EXACT thing I would like, and I still don't get it! I, too, feel like I do everything, but he gets pretty ticked when I say that. I really do try to focus on his awesome traits and try not to let it get to me, but sometimes it just does!!

I'm doing the 800-cal protocol but honestly my calories are more around 600. I'm really just adding egg whites for breakfast, and upping my protein a bit. The protocol does allow for more variety of green vegetables, but I'm pretty much sticking to the same ones I've eaten in my last rounds. My last round ended September 30. I was already up a few pounds from my LIW when I started this round. I loaded well, gained 4 pounds, lost it right away, and now 12 days in I'm sitting at my LIW from last round.

I was really hoping to lose 11 more pounds this round, but at this rate, I'll be happy if I just get down another 6.

I will probably try to do a stall breaker tomorrow if there is no change on the scale. The protocol I'm following says I can try to eat a half cantelope right before I go to bed as a stall breaker. I'd never heard of that before. They also say I can do a Fage day - eating 16oz of Fage with 8oz strawberries throughout the day. I may try one of those since I did an apple day last Sunday and don't really want to do that again.

Cheryl, no my bowl is not as big as on Wikipedia LOL. Its more the size of a cereal bowl.
I've actually know this guy for over 10 years in a group we're both in. He was married. His daughter is 27 now and he and the wife called it quits. Then, I was in a relationship for a couple years. Last fall we figured out we are both single at the same time. I've always liked him as a friend so its nice.

Hi Ladies!

Cheryl -- I don't know how the hcg is looking like it will last so long -- I am doing the recommended dose, which is only 12 drops a day (6 in the am, 6 at night) -- Dosing seems to be right, as I have so little hunger.

It's supposed to be a 30 day round, but it looks like I may get more like 40 dosing days out of the bottle -- hey, that's a good thing! It means more flexibility on my as to when I want to end the round.

Today is shaping up to be a seriously low cal day -- as in, less than 100 calories. I had SF jello this morning, and couldn't make myself choke anything else down -- and I genuinely doubt I will eat at 11 tonight when I get home. I don't like eating at night.

On the plus side, I am peeing and peeing some more today -- so perhaps that bodes well for tomorrow's date with the scale -- I hope so!

My meeting with my thesis chair went really well today, so I am feeling much encouraged on that front -- now I have a class to teach, and then I can go home and collapse...lol!

Days like today are tiring -- I end up running all over the bay area on public transit -- and that gets exhausting (I take 3 separate transit lines just to get to school, and another 2 to get to work from there -- whew!) Lots of walking, too. And teaching is a high energy expenditure job -- So I suspect I will sleep well tonight.

Awww. How we miss those who have gone on to a better place! My dad is "over there" too. I feel bad for those who are unable to do for themselves or to do what they really would love to do for those around them. It really was endearing but like I said, after a couple times it was just another thing that I had to do in my 24 hours.

Well that's good! All of it, I mean. A small bowl must sound just as pretty. I think I'd only get involved with a man who was a friend first. That's the best way, in my opinion.

You and me both! That's a lot of freaking commuting, chickie. How do you find the time for LCF? I'm glad you are a peeing fool. Scale will be kind tomorrow, for sure! And WTG and Hallelujah regarding those thesis committee creeps!

I'm back home after my first guitar class. It was fun and I have homework! Looking forward to practicing what the instructor taught us. He was showing us some things about different styles of picking and he started playing the intro to Dust in the Wind. It sounded just like the original and my jaw dropped. WOW! I'm glad he's our instructor.

Tomorrow is 4 hours in the office at the farm. Hope it goes well! It will be my initial office volunteer day and I don't expect to get a lot done. She needs to see what I'm capable of doing that will help her out.

I hope everyone has a peaceful and safe evening. Hugs all around!

This is how my day ended up: Calories: 627, carbs 35 gr (ee gads!), fat 13 gr (93/7 ground beef - so rogue!!), 5 gr sugar (strawberries dipped in truvia yum!!). I sure hope I see the scale move. I can tell now when I wake up how I feel - bloated or whatever. So I will report in the a.m. I don't think I will see a loss. Today was the last of the Dreamfileds I had cooked up so cutting that will probably help too.
If no loss tomorrow I will blame the Dreamfield's. It could also be the Walden's Farm stuff because artificial sweeteners stalled me on Atkins, except Stevia or Truvia. When I did my first HCG round I did no sweeteners other than Stevia and Truvia and I had great success. We shall see. If no loss after tomorrow I will have to cut the Walden's farm stuff till P3. Tomorrow I simply must cook up some of the fish my boyfriend caught for me!! I think I will put it on the Foreman Grill and use some Ms. Dash lemon flavoring.

Oh PS I measured today. No loss anywhere except ...2 inches in the area like where the band of your bra goes around. Sweet.

PPS. If I make it to 160 tomorrow I will weigh what my driver's license says I weigh. So suck it lady at the DMV who wanted me to change that weight last time!!!

I have gone a little rouge this round. But so far it has worked well for me. We will see tomorrow though. Today I had a class and it ran longer than expected and I was starting to feel weak so I went to the convenience store (horrible place when you're on HCG) but tried to make good choices. I ended up with 2 Vitamin water Zero's, and a package of fat free, sugar free, no MSG added Beef jerky. 1 pack was 2 servings but 27 g protein to the package and 140 calories. OMG it was SOOOOOO good! We have yogurt down here that is fat free no sugar added with fruit in it. So I had that for breakfast but it wasn't enough to get me through the class. We'll see if it derails me and if so how badly it derails me.

LOL!! Dh's are really something, aren't they? Ya' gotta' love 'em!! I can't see why you're stalling? Looks good menu wise, you're on Rx and it's been a while since your last round. I think that greek yogurt day is basically what I do for a CD in P3. I eat a larger portion t/o the day, but works like a charm - usually good for a 2-3lb loss. Hope one of those stall-breakers works for you. The cantaloupe is new and wouldn't take over a whole day. Wonder if it'll work? Keep us posted

Sas-hope the scale tomorrow makes an honest driver out of you

Mini-hope you're really through your stall. Can't wait to see your morning weight!

Cheryl-cool on the guitar. I always wanted to learn, but tried w/ steel strings and quit b/c it hurt too much. Got a guitar for dd (8) last year, but have yet to get the poor girl lessons!

Took an apple w. me tonight, just bought it, and it was mealy I was so disapointed!! What a waste!! Nitey-nite!!

Hi all -- I'm home, and tired, but had a good day.

My thesis committee members aren't creeps -- any of them -- but they are tough critics, all with different agendas. I actually love my thesis chair, but she pulls no punches at all --

I was quite pleased with the way today went, and I feel I have a solid sense of where to go from here.

I ate nothing but sf jello today, which is weirdly rogue, but it was all that sounded appealing. At least it was way low calorie!

I'm curious about the scale tomorrow too -- I almost think it has to be down, given the amount I peed today!

Sigh... Up one pound. I guess that's the rebound from the Chinese food. My body is a little slow. My fingers are very swollen so I am retaining water. But it has to be water becuase I'm so bloated. Right? Must drink lots and lots of water today.

It's days like today that I start really getting annoyed with DH. It's not his fault but he's got it so much easier. I think it was Julie who said she does it all. Pays bills, cooks, cleans, buys presents, etc... well here's one for today. My husband goes in around 2-3 in the morning. That leaves me to put the kids to bed and get them up in the morning by myself. Today my son has a 2 hour delay. Normally on a 2 hour delay my parents take my son and gets him to school but my grandma (96 years old) is in the hospital with a hip fracture (she didn't even fall) and they need to be at the hospital this morning to talk to the doctor. One can't stay with my son as it's my mom's mom and she wants to be at the hospital and my dad needs to drive her and the hospital is 45 minutes away. I have a meeting at 9:30 the same time my son needs to be put on the bus. The meeting is 1 hour away from my house. I would take him with and take him late but his school is 1 1/2 hours away from where I'm working today and by the time I'd leave from the meeting and get him to school it would be nearly time to get him back on the bus. It ticks me off that DH isn't around to help. He never is. He's in Detroit right now (a good 4 hours from here) so he's no help. I can't cancel the meeting. I can't take my son and I have no one to watch him. And DH wonders why I get so frustrated.

Ok, so my brother in law who works night is going to come here and get my son on the bus before going home and going to bed. God bless the man! This just isn't fair.

My weight was 140 even. I'm ok with it. Its still a tad higher than what I'd like to see but honestly I'm so confused as to where I want my weight to be. The biggest issues is all this extra skin. I know its skin and not fat but when you look in the mirror and still see a spare tire it plays mind tricks on you. I've lost 146 and some pounds. I'm 36. I gotta face facts that I'm going to have extra skin.

Ok, enough woe is me....

Sass- it's water. Just keep drinking water and it'll go away!

Mini- anxious to hear your weight!

Cheryl, good to hear guitar went well. I play piano and dabble around with the violin. Two of my sisters play guitar as well as my mom. My nieces play all sorts of instruments and I just started teaching my children piano. We're a musical family! As for what I call my son, I call him Junior everyone else calls him Dewey. He tells me I'm the only one who can call him Junior but it's funny when his friends are over and he's not answering to Dewey they'll shout Junior and he answers. LOL!

Have to agree with all the men talk. Y'all might remember DH was unemployed almost 2 years. In all that time he only took the kids to school once...

When he was unemployed, he decided he would "help" by doing dishes every day. That lasted about a month, then he decided to tack that chore onto our teenager's list of things to do. He spent all day playing video games (and sleeping) and was too busy to do a ten minute chore himself.

We had a huge blow-up over buying the stove. He was convinced he wanted a flat top instead of a coil. I pointed out, rightly I believe, that the partner who cooks one meal every 3 months should not get majority say... Plus we use our cast iron pan every day for my anemia...those scratch flat tops quick. Plus our coil was scratched, oh, at the beginning of DHs unemployment when he decided to help clean by scrubbing the stove with a steel scrubber (he ruined the toilets next with those). One wonders if he purposely ruins things to avoid 'helping'.

Rant Off.

OK, same weight as yesterday, had a nice 1500 calories P3 day, ready for 'low' (800-1000).

Melanie, I am so sorry! I do most of the things around my house and sometimes it would be nice to feel more appreciated. I do most everything with my 3 kids as well, but at least I don't homeschool anymore. That was sending me into the looney bin!

And I totally agree with the skin issue! My son stretched my stomach out sooooooo much and I have nice loose skin in my front belly. I know I have abs under there, but I don't know if I will ever see them again unless i have surgery and that ain't gonna happen.

Sass, I am sorry that you are up a pound. I know when I am retaining too and I hate to get on the scale. Keep it clean these next couple of days and you will be lower than DL weight! Take that DMV lady!

Am back to siggy weight today, so hoping to be below that tomorrow. Put on a pair of pants last night that were a bit snug 2 weeks ago, but now they need a belt and I was hiking them up all night. YAY!!

Okay, I really want to do more personals, but I should have left my house 5 minutes ago! Thurs is a super busy day and I am making a meal for a friend who had a baby last week. I know my day will be like all day!

Have a great day!

WOE: one day at a time!! LC!
Start Date: July 14, 2003 - every day!!
Morning girls!

Melanie and Paula - Dh's usually have it pretty good. I will say that my dh is very industrious (overall). He works faithfully, and when he was laid off several years ago, he really worked hard to find a new job. He is willing to do whatever it takes to provide for us, which is great comfort to me, since I quit my job to homeschool our girls. God has been very faithful to provide for us through him.

Just last night dh and I were chatting. I told him it would be nice if he got me flowers or something, every now and again, just to show that he cares. He (who doesn't pay bills or know much about our bank account, and tends to overspend on stuff we don't need which I get upset about since I am trying to pay off our debt) asked if he could get me stuff. He said he was worried I would be mad at him for wasting money. Ah men, ya' gotta' love 'em! I told him not to order me a dozen roses online for $60, but maybe pick up 1-2 to give me now and again. He's really a good guy most of the time. Normally his job is the trash and loading the dishwasher at night. We're all selfish creatures, and need to work on putting others first. In marriage, we all make our "deals" and have our give and take. I've seen it with all our friends. We strike a balance of work and play and reach an agreement of our roles. What works for one won't work for all, but when we reach that balance we can have a happy marriage (most of the time ).

Melanie-sorry for the stress on getting your son to school and working!! That must be such a challenge. Glad you BIL can help. Hope your grandma is better!

Paula-you're a saint!! I would have killed, or at least maimed, my dh in that situation. That must have been a very stressful time for you, and you were doing hcg and losing weight in the middle of that? :notworthy: You're a better woman than I!

Mini-glad you like your reviewers. Respecting them is a definite bonus!! They just want you to do well, I'm sure. How's the scale today?

Stacey- on the pants! That's WAY better than a number on the scale!! all that exercise is paying off!! I too would love to have surgery one day (never happen), I'm a saggy mess!! but, I'd still rather my skin be saggy then full like it used to be!!

I'm down 0.4 today. I can tell the losses are slowing down (day 9) as I reach familiar territory. I'm still 3 lbs above my LDW from last round back in Aug. I'm hoping to get below that number this round and be able to maintain more closely. I feel and look better and am really happy thus far. Still only occasional mild hunger, and good energy. Not sleeping real well, but generally feel good and am pleased with this round. I really think the long break between rounds did wonders for me!

Oh, my new stove is here and I love it! Just boiled a cup of water in just under 2 minutes!

And the oven capacity is huge...according to consumer reports it cooks from 2 shelves evenly (one of the things I could never do on the last oven).

I am in oven heaven!

And I am triple excited to (finally) have a self cleaning oven!

Mini, are you in located in the San Francisco area? We are visiting there for the first time next month and I'm SO excited to see the city.

I have the same issue. I used to have such a nice, flat tummy. Now I have a flap of skin hanging over the waistband of my pants. Don't know that it will ever go away.

Julie, I think our DH's are brothers from another mother. We've had the exact same convo. I do love him more than anything and I know he puts up with a lot from me too, so I try to keep it all in perspective.

R2P2D13 -1.0. Of course I'm glad for the loss, but on the other hand, I'm a little concerned about how I got there. Yesterday I walked/ran on the treadmill for 35 minutes, and eliminated both fruits. I upped my protein at lunch & dinner to 5-6oz each. However, I only ate 480 calories. That was NOT my intention, but I guess that's what happens when you eliminate both fruits. I was definitely more hungry yesterday too, and peed like a racehorse all day! So today I'm not exercising and will add back in one fruit to see what happens.

I also feel like TOM is going to show at any moment. This is definitely earlier than it should be, but I know HCG can mess up your cycle. It could explain my stall for the last couple days, but doesn't really make sense with the 1.0 loss today. My body is so weird!

Hiker -- yes, I live in the East Bay, and work and go to school in SF proper -- it is an amazing city -- I love it here! We did have a little earthquake yesterday, though -- enough to get me hightailing it out of the ancient building where my teaching office is on the 5th floor --- lol! That (and the cost of living) are the only drawbacks to living here.

SOOOO... nice drop of the scale for me! Yesterday's drop stuck, and took another 1.4 with it! Yahooo! Now I have lost all the p3 and load weight, and it is on to real losses from here. I want to keep that going!!!!

Don't even get me started about division of labor in relationships!

My partner is disabled, so he really can't do much housework -- though he does try. He's unemployed too at the moment, and also spending all day playing video games, and grouses if I ask him to do anything much at all

My roommate does a bit of work, but sporadically and unpredicatably -- and it doesn't begin to account for cleaning up the messes she actually makes.... so I end up doing about 90 percent of the housework for me and two of the messiest people I have ever, ever met. All this while I am the only one who is doing full time school and working at the same time.

No amount of fighting has fixed this at all. I resent the heck out of it, but I also hate living in a filthy house, and that is the only option other than cleaning it myself.

Roommate at least does a lot of the errands with me (groceries and so forth) and that is a big help, since she has the only car.

Oh, and did I mention that I also carry over half the bills (sometimes closer to 75%) for all three of us ??? GRRRRR.

It wouldn't bother me so much if I got thanks a bit more often, and snapped at less often for the things I don't do right.

I'm thinking maybe the running helped. I ran Tues and dropped a lb overnight. Yesterday-no running and only down 0.4. Not complaining, just trying to figure it out. Hope you figure it out and can keep it going!! And about our dh's. Maybe they'll do better as we're learning to be direct w/ them. My mom did tell me that subtlety is wasted on men!

Mini- I hope it sticks and keeps going for you. Eat, girl!! you can't live on jello!! You want your body to trust you and release weight !!

I'm off for lunch. Love chicken lettuce wraps!! Feels like a real meal!!

Nice stove, Paula!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, it is interesting how many of us shoulder the burden in our relationships. I know that sometimes goes with the territory of being a woman, but we seem to have a real tendency to do that more than most women, even....

Gremom---- Whooohooo about the pants!

Hiker -- So glad about the loss for you, too! I honestly think sometimes the losses just come in waves on this protocol, and it isn't so much about what we do or don't do on any given day -- the stalls break when they want to.

Julie -- glad that your round is bringing you losses consistently -- let's all keep this up and make the rest of this round rock for us!

I ate 2 eggs and 1 white just now (with an itty bitty splash of cream in there) -- so I will keep it to veggies and maybe a fruit for the rest of the day -- and/or jello It was nice to frontload some nutrition, though.

Despite my best intentions, I've gone a little rogue -- but I am keeping to the 500 calories, and to p2 foods, with the exception of the jello. I know that 2 eggs is deviating in terms of portions.... sigh. I will do the best I can not to stray very far from protocol as written -- especially now that I can see results happening!
