Trail Blazers and Path Takers

Some of us have had great success with following protocol while others have had better results forging our own trail. And while we might follow well-worn paths, we’re just as apt to wonder off in search of a pretty view. We are currently exploring JUDDD, Fat Fasting and varying forms for protocol. We are previously from the http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/hc...xperiment.html thread that had to be closed due to size.

All are welcome here to share your views, explore new ideas, lend or gain support and just enjoy the company. :hiya:

:hiya: hey, my buddy bud!! it finally happened, huh? :(

thanks for starting a new thread. :high5: great name!

TerriMM 02-03-2012 03:14 PM

You're quick girl! I was just posting it on our "old" site. Glad you like the name; I thought it seems to fit us well.

How's the FF going?

I was dying from the shear small volume of food yesterday, but today I'm good. I feel like I should eat more, but I'm really quite satisfied. I haven't decided yet if I'm going back to P2 with the grains or not. I might just do it with more protein. I'm feeling better already stepping away from the carbs.

privatediva 02-03-2012 03:15 PM

markin' my place!

dazygyrl 02-03-2012 03:16 PM

FF going great!

my 10am meal kept me full till 5pm!!

i had:

1 egg + 2 yolks cooked in 1T butter, topped with 1oz cream cheese
most of my nearly expired avocado...had to scoop out the yucky parts...lol...topped with 1T mayo.

this little ditty kept me full for 7hrs!! crazy!

just had my cream cheese/HWC concoction. mmmmm....good!

should be good for the rest of the evening.

how about your's?

TerriMM 02-03-2012 03:29 PM

So far so good. The cream cheese muffins held me over a lot better than the 1.3 oz of tuna and mayo yesterday. My body is also re-tooling to burn fat I think, because I'm starting to feel better. I'm actually looking forward to the scale tomorrow :aprayer: At this point I think I'll continue tomorrow.

:hiya: Deb

CherylB 02-03-2012 05:36 PM

Signing in! Love the new name, Terri. It is going to be a wonderful thread and we will all reach and maintain at goal long before it gets closed, like the first one! Pause and think about THAT! This thread is going to see a whole lot of success stories. :)

TerriMM 02-03-2012 11:13 PM

I like it Cheryl! Great way to christen the new thread, with success. :high5:

Well it's the good news/bad news story. First I miss calculated calories but figured it out only after I pushed the envelope. Ended up with 1357 calories. But the good news is it was 85% fat. The other bad news is the push the envelope part was a small piece of Tri Tip that was very salty.
So yes, we're skeerd.

C'Marie 02-04-2012 12:38 AM

HEY! Here you are! LOL :hiya:

dazygyrl 02-04-2012 05:29 AM

good morning on our shiny new thread. :D

i am down 2.8 from thurs morning's weight. secretly thought i'd be down more, but it's ok. another fat fast today. i have a show this evening...a "girls' night out" vendor thing i was invited to. it's an hour away....it's from 5pm-10pm....it's snowing buckets here....i'm not *quite* ready for it...but am praying for a great show! (i don't think it's snowing where the show is).

i plan on eating a bit more protein so my fat ratio won't be quite as high as yesterday. this is what i'm planning on.

coffee w/ a total of 4T HWC

8oz 93/7% ground beef topped with 2T mayo (this will help keep me full longer)

taking along 2oz of pecans to nibble on at the show.

cals: 1042
fat: 94.3g - 81.5%
protein: 39.7g - 15.47%
carbs: 7.8g - net 2.4g - 3.02%

:aprayer: for a good weigh in, bud! :high5:

TerriMM 02-04-2012 08:04 AM

:hiya: Marie!

 on the 2.8. Now you didn't weight in yesterday after the birthday celebration, so you know that 2.8 is actually a very conservative number. I think your daily plan sounds very doable.

Okay I was skeerd as you know, all that hard work just to be ditched with a math error and a little piece of Tri Tip. Down 4.3 :jumpjoy: Making a total of 5.4 for two days. So you know I'm sticking with the Fat Fast today, probably tomorrow as well.

dazygyrl 02-04-2012 08:21 AM

holy schnikes, girl! what an awesome drop!! WOOT!! :high5:

   That's like a Christmas morning miracle! :jumpjoy: Don't you wish you knew what you did that was so right so you could repeat it? Maybe just eat the exact same food in the exact same amounts today and see if it was just "due" or if it was something you did yesterday. Wooohooooo!

Nice drop, Carrie! I agree with Terri about the party thing and not weighing afterward, so the 2.6 (I think that's what you said it was) is quite good. Have fun with the vendors. Sorry about the snow storm. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable day. :hugs:

Hi, C'Marie! Nice to see you again! How've you been? Catch us up, please.

I ate more than I should have yesterday and was on the go so I didn't weigh the food I ate. I ate chicken but it was fresh from the store and I couldn't help myself from picking at it on the way home. (The store is at least 5 miles from home, so that's a lot of picking.) And then I drank 1.5 mugs of homemade chicken stock (throughout the day) that I made two nights ago. I really have no clue what the calorie or fat content of that stuff is so I need to figure that out so I at least have some idea. I've been estimating a 1/2 mug to be 50 cals.

So, I'm up 0.8 today. I also noted around noon that I didn't take my 0900 pellets that I set an alarm to take. I turned off the alarm and didn't take my first dose until 12:30. :( That could be part of the up-swing, too. Oh, well! Today I'm going to do it carefully and stay home.

I hope everyone has a great day today! Terri, amazed and happy for you at your wonderful whoosh!

TerriMM 02-04-2012 04:40 PM

Hey Cheryl,
I hear ya, I'd love to repeat that! It's a little harder on the road; I'm already at about 850 calories, but in the mid 80's for fat. I think I'll do the cheese crust pizza again for dinner and maybe some real whip cream later if I'm still hungry.

Are you back on HCG? I thought you were doing Atkins. What made you change? Are you doing protocol? As much as any of us actually do  I'm trying to decide whether to go back to P2 or stick with this a couple more days. I might just ride it out if the scale keeps co-operating. I guess the consensus is up to five days, but I'll have to pull out my book and check it out again.

Hope everyone is having a lovely and safe day. Hate to tell you, but it's in the high 60s and sunny here. I just came in from sticking some poppies in the ground.

CherylB 02-04-2012 04:51 PM

I change back and forth. I think I got a fire lit under my can after I had to defend Hhcg to an Atkins person on the '72 thread last month. So I restarted P2 9 days ago, so VLCD 7 today. But I'm rogue all the way. I'm kind of doing a combo Atkins/hhcg thing. If it is successful over the long-haul, I will divulge all. I'm trying to keep calories around 500 but it's so strange. I've been having more hunger doing it this way than when I've done it more like the Omaha Weight Loss plan, where I'd eat popcorn and an apple every day.

I forgot you were on the road! Have fun and be safe. Do you stay in hotels at night or do you do road trips that bring you back to your own comfy bed each night?

I think anytime someone changes from Atkins back to hhcg, it is for one reason only:

SPEED. I want to get farther, faster, now. ;)

beachagain 02-04-2012 05:41 PM

:hiya: hey everyone...been really, really, busy (and a little irritated too):dunno:

TerriMM 02-05-2012 07:46 AM

Good Morning,
Down another 1.90 today for an ongoing total of 7.3 in three days. 1435 calories yesterday 83% fat. I am truly amazed!

:hiya: Cristen, good to see you. Sorry you’re out of sorts. How’s your diet? Maybe try upping the fat, some people say it makes them feel better.

Hey Bud,
How’d you do yesterday? Did you have a nice afternoon with your friends? Hope you had a safe drive.

Morning Cheryl & Deb!

ugh....this is the THIRD time i have to type this dumb thing! stupid internet.

so happy for you with another great drop, terri!

not sure what to day is. high fat and higher calories for sure. ate out for lunch with my sister. stuck with a chicken thigh, pizza tops, the cheese off the cheese bread with a bite or 2 of the bread, part of a salad with egg, sunflower seeds, and ranch. what i have eaten today that i can track has been is 1000 cals.

beachagain 02-05-2012 03:47 PM

Hey Layla :hiya:  good to see ya again!!:high5:

Terri...still trying to do the Leptin Reset...but I got frustrated a few days ago and was lead astray :laugh:

SO...I am trying to get back on track...still maintaining in the upper end of my window...but I was losing (really, really slow...but losing)...got down to 138ish...stayed there too long and went nuts:doh:...shot myself in the foot:stars:and I'm jumping back on the horse:dunno:
**sigh**

haha...sorry about the cliff hanger Cheryl...I am just a little annoyed with my own lack of patience and willpower:dunno:....anyhoo...wishing you great success with this round:shake:

Terri...are you still doing the rotation diet?
heck...maybe I should give it a go again:clap:

CherylB 02-05-2012 04:27 PM

Carrie, sorry you keep losing your post! Third time's a charm, they say.

Cristin, sorry for the goof-up. Been there! A number of times. Just do what you need to do to make today a good day and tomorrow will take care of itself. (Hey! I just made that up but it is kind of catchy, isn't it?) I'm adding that to my siggy!

beachagain 02-05-2012 05:59 PM

:goodpost:

yep...I agree...it just sucks to feel so disappointed in yourself when you think about the big picture...I would have been over halfway through with the reset, and now I'm starting over...I wish I could kick myself:D:doh:

dazygyrl 02-05-2012 06:39 PM

here's a few pictures from my table at last night's show. did great. made 3x's my table fee. so it was worth the white-knuckle hour+ drive in a snowstorm to get there. :D

That's great, Carrie! It all looks so pretty and professional. I'm so glad it was a profitable experience. Sorry about the snowstorm, though. Hope you're home safe and sound now.

Cristin, I hear you totally. I had originally thought I'd reach goal by the end of September. Instead I did a regain/lose/regain thing and now I'm in the lose part again. When will we ever learn? As for me, I am going to say "NOW"!!

Hey Bud,
Love the table! Congrads on the successful day.

My day was weird to say the least.
B-2 Cream Cheese Muffins C296, F30
L-McDonalds Grilled Chicken Salad (left most the lettuce) C400, F24
S- 1/2 Macadamia Nuts C100, F10.5
D-Pepperoni Cheese Crust Pizza C236, F20.25
At this point my percentage was only 74% (should have eaten only half the chicken on my salad that would have put me at 82%)
So after dinner I had:
Canned whip cream with jello C290, F28 87%
Cream Cheese muffin C148, F15
So I ended up with 1470 calories, 127.75 fat, 79%
At least I'm over the minimum, hoping for the best tomorrow. I know there is more involved then fat percentage, but right now that's what I'm trying to focus on for this FF round. And I imagine as my body adjusts the losses will slow as well. So far the losses have added up like this
80% - 1.10 lb
85% - 4.30 lb
82% - 1.90 lb
Tomorrow I'm working on 88%
B - 2 eggs, 1/3 avocado, 1T HWC
L - 2 Cream Cheese Muffins
S - 1/2 Macadamias
D - Pepperoni Pizza
S - 1-1/2 Cup Whipped Cream

Hope it's not TMI

Hey Layla, great to see you. Sounds like your return has been a challenge to say the least. Good for you for not letting it derail you. Curling sounds like fun. Do you do it on ice skates?

The very hardest thing about P3, I think, is accepting no losses, especially when you're so close to your goal. That's what got me last time too.

I'm done with rotation. I lost 4.5 in a week and a half so it wasn't a failure, just didn't work as well as protocol or even rogue protocol. But the change was nice. Then I went to a dinner party and had a 3.6 gain. I had been lurking on the Fat Fast Thread and made an instant decision to try it at that point. Especially since Carrie was too. :friends: One thing I think the rotation did do for me was set me up for better losses on the Fat Fast because of all the grains I was eating. I'm still taking HCG, the losses have been great, but I don't know where I'm going from here. DH started protocol today. I was going to go back to P2 for a while, but with the great losses I'm getting, I decided to ride it out for a while. During the week it's a lot easier for me to stick with a plan. I can only eat what a brought. :)

I think that's a great saying Cheryl and one we could all stand to be reminded of. :high5:

privatediva 02-05-2012 09:34 PM

ooo...look at all that beautiful Daisygirl! I guess you could probably tell from my last order that I'm mildly addicted to your vanilla bean stuff. (Mild my butt...I'm crazy about it) The lotion is so pure and healthful that I smear that delicous smelling stuff right on my coconut soaped face...and it's like eating cookies without the morning-after regrets!

C'Marie 02-06-2012 01:34 AM

Quick update for you, Cheryl - I'm *almost* down to where I was at my lightest since pretty much adulthood. I still have about 20 or so pounds to go, not sure. I am ending P2 next Saturday with my LIW, whatever it is - unless I decide to extend with pellets since I shouldn't go any longer than that with Rx. I may "protein-up" for a short P3 interrupt and start again or I may just P3 for awhile. I have some medical stuff still going on and have to go get an MRI and then do at least a phone consult or travel to Colorado and decide on a treatment there or a 2nd opinion here, but probably both. Then I will decide what I'm doing. It's been a long haul.

I have vacation scheduled mid-July so I need to get my fanny in gear to finish weight loss and treatment so I have time to heal and go have fun!

dazygyrl 02-06-2012 04:35 AM

good morning!

was so 'blessed' to see a lovely hormone gain this morning. mid-cycle. love it. this was a PAINFUL one this month. i get those sometimes where ovulation is so painful and last night it was. so not totally surprised by the gain.

so, not really sure what i am doing. my gut really felt good on the higher fat. but i don't know if that's a sustainable WOE. and i surely don't want to only eat 1000 cals a day permanently.

i wonder about higher fat with cals closer to my maintenance....i really would like to train my body to maintain at higher cals, but have no idea how to go about that. any ideas on that? today, i will try my maintenance cals at fat fast ratios and see how that goes.

i don't know if i have told you gals...sheesh, nice friend i am...but mom is getting MARRIED this coming weekend!! the 11th!! my sisters and i are standing up with her. so i got a purty dress to wear. :D so definitely want to keep the scale in check this week.

TerriMM 02-06-2012 05:21 AM

Nice. I was my Mom's maid of honor for her second marriage too! That man became my "real" dad.

Sorry for the TOM issues. I guess you can say good timing at least. After the show and well before the wedding.

I seemed to have gotten a sympathy bump. Really don't know why. I'm going forward with my 88% day and will reassess tomorrow morning. I'm not planning on this as a sustainable life style, just an avenue to get where I want to maintain. My last two P3s I maintained great by balancing my fat and protein grams, going heavy on the fat. Hopefully this little experiment hasn't changed that for me. I think in a day or two I'll go back to P2 for a while. (DH started yesterday) and then try that balancing act in P3.

Hope you feel better soon!
