Yep, that's what I've been doing. However, when I'm in weight loss mode, I limit my fruit and nuts very much and when I say bread, I consider rice, grains, flour things in that category and of course chips falls into my potato category. On exercise, I tried adding exercise in and once again it seemed to stall my weight loss so since 8/27 I exercised 3 days doing a 20 min. kettlebell exercise and haven't exercised now in about 3 weeks. I know exercise is good for my muscles so I plan to (try) and add it in after getting back to goal. I'm just not motivated because I know I don't need to exercise to take the weight off and then once it's off, why exercise except I know in my head that it's good for me.

A sample day for me would be, 2 eggs, sausage patty and slice of cheese for breakfast, a green salad with tomatoes, black olives, cheese, lunchmeat with ranch dressing, and dinner a protein like chicken, steak, ground beef or elk. I don't measure anything, I allow myself any condiments I want and don't limit how much ranch I use on my salads. I'm a pretty simplistic eater, I stick to a lot of the same foods and have found that after eating this way for so long that I don't crave sweets at all, in fact I don't really like them any more. My downfall are salty and deep fried. I'd take a bag of chips, fried anything or a beer over a candy bar or brownies.

This is just what works for me and I love it because I don't have to count anything, it is a lifestyle I can live with because I can eat anywhere and make it work. I absolutely hate counting anything. Everyone is different though and my girlfriend here tried this and she felt too deprived because she needed something for her that allowed her to eat in every food category.

I think from what I've read so far in the new book is that it is going to have 'all meat' days in it. After I get to the diet portion of the book I'll let you know. Right now I'm only to page 75 of 204 pages and it's still the science part of it but has referred to all meat days.

Oh, and this week I seem to be stalled, haven't lost anything but I think it's because I have'nt been eating enough fat, too much chicken. Changing that today

I hope you're enjoying your vacation!!

Thanks for the info. I'm going to do some hard thinking on that while I'm gone. I'm so sick of tracking every morsel that sounds real appealing and doable for me. I would like to be able to eat from all the food groups, but I don't seem to be able to lose that way unless I track like a bad dog and really limit quantity.

I hate when exercise stalls me too because I really want to keep it up. I find I can usually get away with it if I keep it to every other day.

Funny about the all meat days. I do that for a correction day now and that really works for me. And beef is always a good loser for me.

Well I'm off to the wild blue yonder! See everyone in a few days.

Morning Bud,
Best I can say about today is I stopped the bleeding. Down .10. I did work out last night. And I decided I'm not going to stop. The benefits far out weight any drawbacks. I truly believe that any bump in weight will be temporary and the way I feel completely validates the benefits.

Diet I'm taking day to day. Today - No S, Low Carb, High Fat, Moderate Protein, Not Counting.

How is your day shaping up?

on stopping the bleeding! yeah, you KNOW any gains or even no movement on the scale is from exercise, NOT adding true weight.

no-s w/ tracking today. 1153 cals.

90 net carbs
57g fat
57g protein

Well the food went well, but not so much No S. I was so physically busy my first day back at work, I had eaten all of lunch by 11 am. The girls went to the BBQ joint so I had them pick me up some Tri-tip (no sauce) with a side salad and ate half of it. Then had a great chicken caeser for dinner only to top it off with a big bowl of whip. So high fat/moderatish protein. I also power walked back and forth to the shop a bunch of times, so I guess exercise...check.

hey, not bad. so it's not *as* green of a day, but doesn't seem like a flaming red either.

stuck to my menu did fine. got QUITE hungry at ky's football game and after when we had to run to walmart and pick up the diva girl, but i didn't eat anything. waited till i got home and cooked up what i had planned. 2 eggs scrambled with 2 sausage links with a little sour cream on top.

i think today will be more of a high fat day (within my 1200 cals)

noah has a check up with the radiation oncologist. evidently she found out he had had a MRI so now want's to see him. i'm hoping she can show me the dec MRI and the one he just had...i'd like to see how they compare.

have a beautimus day!

Sounds like you're back in the groove WTG

I'm down 1.1 today, so feel good I'm moving in the right direction. I think I'll go ahead start my Friday weigh ins again.

Falls seems to finally be coming to California, lovely low 70s. Good luck with the encologist!

Good Morning Sunshine!
I started off yesterday with a BAB and that held me over much better. If I could just kick the after dinner whip, I'd have No S dialed. I tweaked my knee a little, not sure how, but I'm not doing formal exercise at the moment just to baby it. I am doing a lot of power walking at work at the moment, so I feel okay about that. I haven't kicked the daily weigh in yet so I have to report a .50 bump, attributed to two bacon meals yesterday and mid TOM.
I've been reading a lot about Nutritional Ketosis, which is the basis of FF plans. I'm currently just upping the fat but not counting still. If I go for a "tracking, serious plan" I may try that.

How's your day? How'd Noah's appt go yesterday?

day is good. delivered an order to my big account. now waiting for my friend to have lunch.

so sorry about your knee. be careful and heal fast! yes the high fat intrigues me but I struggle with how to do that to keep from eating butter, cream, etc all the time. it seems difficult to keep fat up without raising protein too much.

Noah's appt was fine. but then radiation never bothered him while he was getting it. we did look at and compare all his mri's. dr is Chinese so was hard to explain what I wanted to look at so just let it to.

Morning Bud!
I seem to have rekindled my obsession with the scale. Every intention of Friday weigh in and every day that's the first thing on my mind. I think it's partly because of reading all the NK threads and altering my diet a little closer each day. I actually added up the numbers to see how I was doing and found I was still heavy on the protein. So I tweaked my choices and ended up with a menu for today without really meaning too. So I'm just going to go for it.

The way I lined it up I coming up with 1619 calories, 149 grams fat, 16.7 carbs, 52.7 protein, 83% fat. If it goes well tomorrow on the scale, I'll post the "actual" menu I end up with for you.

Check out the bread recipe Nicole posted on No S! Looks like a real winner.

Happy, Happy Friday Bud!

Well first day I’m only down .20. I usually start slow and my best losses on day two and three when I do traditional FF, so tomorrow will be the day that tells for me. This is how my menu shaped up:

B - 1 egg, 1 yoke, .8 oz cheddar, 1t butter, coffee w/ 2 T HWC
L – 3.4 oz salmon, 1.4 oz mayo, 3.3 oz asparagus
D – Cheese crust pizza, 2 cups lettuce, 2 T Caesar dressing, 1 oz sunflower kernels
S – 12 grms SF whip cream, 2T HWC whipped w/1T SF chocolate Torani syrup
1625 calories, 151.2 fat, 57 protein, 16.9 carbs, 82% fat.

Funny thing is, when I multiply by fat grams by nine and divide it by my calories I come up with 84% fat vs. what Fit day says. I guess if it’s going to be off, I rather it under estimated.

Okay just to push you over the edge....... Hello Bernice, Good bye 1#. Making it 1.2 down today.

Feeling full High Fat is different, and it sometimes takes a couple days to fully kick in and I really think that is more of a head hunger thing. But you don't really feel full and much as you don't feel hungry. Sometimes after eating I do have that "oh now that was too much" fullness. But it doesn't hang with me and make me feel bloated. I rarely have that I need to eat now feeling and I seem to have an easier time of not just continuing to nosh. Admittedly it's taken a little practice, but I'll set my bowl down and say "let me see if that's enough, if I want more I can get some later." And more often than not, I'm good.

I think I'm going to go ahead and give this a shot for a while as a lifestyle vs. diet. I'm not going to eat with abandon, but I'm not going to worry too much about calories. Just tracking keeps things sane. I am going to track, for a while anyway just to get it firmly in my brain. And I did order the free meter just to see how honest it keeps my strips, but I can't see my poking my finger on a regular basis or spending the $ thank you very much. But I'm going for it.

Terri, I think this is worth pursuing! For maintenace, is your plan to adopt this a few days a week, and then the rest of the week eat "normal", for a lack of a better word? I could see this really working.

Hey Marie,
Actually I'm going to try making this my "normal" for a while and see if I can get back solidly in the 120s.

Morning Bud!
How’s Monday treating you?

I had another bump up today. Totally expected. Higher protein, lower fat%, alcohol and fast food over the weekend, and last night I started my slow burn exercise program. I would not have weighed but I wanted to see what the slow burn did to the scale. I'm going to continue to track this week and try to cut back to just one meat meal a day. Of if I do two, keep it to 2 oz or less. More toward my original FF menus which usually ended up more around the 1300-1600 calorie range anyway. I think I’ll make some cream cheese muffins tonight.

Breakfasts are usually eggs (heavy on the yokes) with any combination of cheese, pesto, avocado, etc.

Lunches I’m going to make cream cheese muffins, which are also a good sub for breakfast if I’m having meat for lunch. Otherwise maybe salads with cheese, dressing, nuts, avocados, minimal if any meat.

Dinners 2-4 oz meat, salads with dressing or veggies with hollandaise sauce our other high fat option. Of course my cheese crust pizzas are always a good option.

If I intend on doing this for a while, I will be need to broaden my options though.

oooo...issoyummy!!!

2 sticks butter
1 brick cream cheese
1 1/2 cups HWC (2 cups if you want it a bit thinner)
1 cup parmesan cheese
garlic and pepper to taste

melt butter and cream cheese together with spices over med high heat. whisk until smooth and creamy. add cream. heat to just under a boil. add cheese. heat and stir until cheese melts and everything is creamy. as it cools it will thicken. when you refidgerate the left overs it will get solid, but it reheats great. it may separate a bit when you reheat it , but it stirs together fine.

enjoy!

And so good on any sort of meat. Sorta a replacement for mayo or ranch.
