Sorry for the TOM issues. I guess you can say good timing at least. After the show and well before the wedding.

I seemed to have gotten a sympathy bump. Really don't know why. I'm going forward with my 88% day and will reassess tomorrow morning. I'm not planning on this as a sustainable life style, just an avenue to get where I want to maintain. My last two P3s I maintained great by balancing my fat and protein grams, going heavy on the fat. Hopefully this little experiment hasn't changed that for me. I think in a day or two I'll go back to P2 for a while. (DH started yesterday) and then try that balancing act in P3.

Hope you feel better soon!
my...ahem, ovary, lol DOES feel a LOT better this morning, thankfully. thanks!

i'm just so happy for mom. her sadness and grief of losing dad was just so exhausting as i just didn't know how to help her. she was simply not created to be alone, so i am so happy God brought into her life and wonderful, Godly man to pamper her and take care of her. he is the same age as dad...was married for 34 years (mom and dad were married 39 yrs)....and most amazing of all...he lost his wife to pancreatic cancer!!! that's what dad died from. they had an INSTANT connection and were talking marriage 3 weeks after meeting. i won't deny that it's weird to see her so in love with someone else, but that's for me to deal with. i am just glad she is HAPPY!!

can you give me a visual of what a menu looks like that balances fat and protein grams? i can'e seem to "get" that.

no, this thread is a carry over form the rather LARGE thread titled "My Alternating re-feed experiment".

that's so very cool about your mom, Carrie! I wish her blessings and happiness with her new husband.

No news from me, same ol same ol. David has lost 40 lbs in 38 days. He has about 11 to go...I expect it won't be any longer than 2 weeks and he will be able to move on to P3. I can't wait...there are many steaks in my future

That"s awesome Deb,
Is he sticking with the 500 calories or upping the protein a bit? My DH started yesterday, I told him about David and he was full of questions. Any advise from one DH for the another?

He is sticking very strictly to 500 cal. He's been amazing...he has done all his own cooking and has learned a whole lot from it. I'm really proud of him

I have vacation scheduled mid-July so I need to get my fanny in gear to finish weight loss and treatment so I have time to heal and go have fun!
Wooohooo! So are you lower in weight than in your Avi pic? You must be looking truly amazing by now! I don't like the sound of that medical problem. Is it something you care to talk about here with us?

i don't know if i have told you gals...sheesh, nice friend i am...but mom is getting MARRIED this coming weekend!! the 11th!! my sisters and i are standing up with her. so i got a purty dress to wear. so definitely want to keep the scale in check this week.
No idea what to recommend about maintaining at higher cals. I thought that was what P3 was supposed to do. I never tried to "push the envelope" during P3 so I don't know what to suggest. I hope you get it figured out, though!

That's absolutely wonderful news about your Mom and her new hubby-to-be! Seems like a match made in Heaven above. I'm so happy for her, and for him. May they have many years of bliss together. And congratulations to you and your entire family on gaining a step dad!

"Sympathy bump." You guys are so funny. I've heard of that "fat and protein balancing." I forgot who started that. Was it Shelby? I hope you find "something sustainable", too. And you made a good point about the timeliness of her TOM.

Gals, I'm doing great so far this P2 round. I'm down 10 lbs even after 8VLCDs. I hope this week continues to show me at least a 3 lb drop. I'm thinking if I can keep an average of 3-4 lbs per week throughout the round, I can be at goal by mid-April. If things can click along at least in the 3-lb range per week, I'm going to march right on through.

no, this thread is a carry over form the rather LARGE thread titled "My Alternating re-feed experiment".
When my Dad took off I was only in the sixth grade and he remarried right away. My mom didn’t remarry until I was a freshman so it was more welcome than weird. When we lost my Mom five years ago I was the one that actually helped my Dad be okay with moving on. He was terribly lonely (had never in his life lived alone) and at 78 there was no point in wasting time being lonely. My mom would not have wanted that. He loved and cherished her for thirty five great years. Now when he found someone that was weird. And a whole other very strange story, it was kind of a con that is still playing out. So yeah I get that you want them to be happy, it just takes some getting used to. I just always tried to think about how he was with me when I was making my choices good, bad and ugly and try to give him the same love and support he always gave me.

Okay so the balancing act. First of all I made a cheat sheet of my typical foods. It’s a different way of thinking and a bit of work so that really helped. After a week or two you basically get it without so much trouble.
I counted only fat and protein grams. I didn’t really count veggies and fruit, but ate only occasional fruit, regular veggies though. I seemed to do better with the fat over the protein by about 10-20% YMMV. That’s one of the reasons I latched onto the Fat Fast. Keep in mind, I like to eat! Here’s a typical day (maybe a little less veggies the usual, but I thought you’d like this day better because of that):
B – 2 eggs F10 P16, 1-1/2 oz cheese F10 P13, ˝ Avocado F13 P2, butter F3 P0
L- 5oz Tri Tip F10 P30, ˝ Cup cottage cheese F5 P13
S- Latte Breve (made with ˝ & ˝ ) F27 P7, ˝ Apple
Dinner – Gr Beef Patty F23 P23, Mushrooms and onions F0 P4
S- 2 Cream Cheese Muffins F22 P8, whip cream F16 P0, SF jello
Day total F139 P117

I did fluctuate in my window but never had to do a correction day until I got lazy and let the protein get out of hand and started sneaking in questionable carbs. Part of the reason I'm not too freaked out about the bump today.

thank you for sharing about your mom and stepdad. so sorry about the con. i will tell you...and my sisters don't even know this...i just had a nagging "what if..." in the back of my head about this guy....even tho he is a devout christian and active member of his church...the speed at which their relationship developed caused me to have persistent "what if..." thoughts. i did mention this to my BFF (who designed the t-shirts for noah) of this. she too was going thru the same what if's.....well in her former life she managed a trailer park and was forever having to do background checks on people who applied for renting their units. so....she did her magic here and checked on the guy for me. all came back good. soooo....that helped to quell those nagging thoughts. anyway...i'm sorry your dad is experiencing a less than ideal relationship.

thank you for your sample day. i had made up a menu for tomorrow to try the balancing thing. i deleted some of it to make the fat a bit higher than the protein and i pushed the cals over my maintenance just to see what happens. i also included some granola to keep *some* carbs in my diet to keep the sensitivity them low. i will post it in a little bit.

Wow! A background check must go a long way in making you feel better about him! I think the speedy decision to marry is due to the fact that they are both in the same exact boat. Both widow/widower from a 30+ year marriage, and both of their late spouses died of the same illness! That'a lot of common-ground. They are both tired of being alone. It just sounds like a perfect match. I hope you can come around to feeling comfortable about him.

I always say that I'm done with relationships, but I guess if I came across someone who was a widower, I would give it another go. (As long as the other factors were right.)

It's amazing what you can find out about a person on the internet just by typing in their name and following the path. My step sister and I are the ones that uncovered the con because things that were said just didn't add up.

ok, so my maintenance cals are 1600-1800.

today i had 2080.

i had:

4oz natural pork sausage w/ 1oz melted cream cheese stirred in then i put one egg in it...cooked it...then topped it with 4T daisy sour cream. MMMMM...MMMM GOOD!!

2oz cream cheese atop 2T my fav peanut butter

6" spicy italian sub from subway (my carbs for the day) w/ mayo

1/4 c HWC whipped and put under 2T my fav PB.

cals: 2080
fat: 159g - 72.46%
protein: 75g - 15.19%
carbs (net): 51g - 12.35%

tomorrow, i will see what happens with fat and protein closer together.

i am planning on this for tomorrow:

2oz natural pork sausage, 2eggs, 1oz cream cheese, topped with 4T sour cream

fat free dannon greek plain yogurt with sweetener and vanilla added topped with 1/3 c granola

8oz 93/7 ground beef with 2T mayo, sf ketchup

2T Pb topped with 1oz cream cheese

cals: 1610
fat: 110.5g - 64.74%
protein - 102g - 26.44%
carbs (net) - 29g - 8.81%

soooo....we shall see.

well, cool! weight this morning after the higher cal/high fat day was essentially the same! now, i am sitting a bit higher than i would like, but cool to know that i can eat higher cal and stay the same. thought i might have dropped some fluid from ovulation, but maybe that's still coming. last month, i gained with ovulation and my weight stayed up then too.

soooo, it just wouldn't be right if i didn't change my mind...lol. i made dh some LC corn bread and want to include that in today's line up. then i got to remembering the most yummy muffin i whipped together to take to church sunday and decided i wanted one of those too.

my meal plan today:

B: 2 pieces cornbread w/ 2 T butter, a little sf syrup -- fat free dannon greek yogurt w/ 1/3 cup granola, coffee with 1/4 c HWC

L: muffin w/ 2T butter

S: 6oz 93/7 ground beef w/ sf ketchup

cals: 1524
fat: 113.6g - 65.18%
protein: 72.7g - 18.81%
carbs: 61g/38.5g net - 16.01%

a little lower cals. i wouldn't mind calorie cycling if it's higher than what i was doing. so we'll see what 556 few cals from yesterday does for the scale tomorrow.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuummy! I love corn bread!!

Well I made it to 87% yesterday
B-2 eggs, 1/4 Avocado, 1T HWC
L-2 cream cheese muffins, 1/2 oz macadamias
D-Cheese crust pizza
S-Whipped HWC with cocoa and SF Black cherry topped with canned whip

Calories 1222
Fat 177.75
87%

I'm down .30. I'm doing another FF day just because of the food I have to eat up, mostly cream cheese muffins. I am going to have a bison patty for dinner, but I'm trying to push the fat the rest of the day and at dinner to keep the percentage up. Tomorrow I'm going to jump back to P2 for a few days at least. DH is doing that now, so that will make it easy on both of us (he's down 4.7 in two days).

Hey Layla, hope you feel better!!

Morning everyone, hope you all have a great day.

Hi, ladies. Sounds like you're doing well. Layla, sorry about your dang cold. Hope the sauna cooks it out of you!

I'm down another lb today which I'm tickled about. I may see a little rebound tomorrow because last night I was bad and had some wine. That can cause a dehydration drop on the scale the next day, so tomorrow we shall see.

12 years ago today, my dear hubby passed away in his sleep. I'm long-over it now but I do hope he is having fun with all his beloved family and friends who went on before him, as well as basking in the glory or our dear Lord! We will be together again someday, forever. You're still my hubby, Kurt! I'm still Mrs B!

Got the farm today and hoping it's not too windy. Cheeks suffer greatly and I've yet to figure out a way to protect them. If I wear a ski mask, I'll look like a bank robber and freak out the horses. If I used a long scarf, I'll have to wrap it around my head a number of times and then I'll look like a Muslim. Looks like I'll just deal with cold cheeks for now, once again.

Love you, ladies! Have a marvelous day!

If I used a long scarf, I'll have to wrap it around my head a number of times and then I'll look like a Muslim. Looks like I'll just deal with cold cheeks for now, once again.

Love you, ladies! Have a marvelous day!
Hey Cheryl,
Pound the water and maybe the "wine cheat" will stick. That's what I used to call it when I'd have a glass the night before Weight Watchers weight in.

How about a cowboy bandana? Kind of appropriate and you can keep it tied around your neck and pull it up or down as needed.

Here's to Kurt! Our loved one by proxy.

cheryl....hope you have a great barn day! and hope your wine cheat doesn't show up later.

hi, bud... on being down again! hope your P2 days go well. rock it, girlfriend.

as for me...i have been so miserable today. i must slept so hard and in a funny position or something, because my neck is jacked UP!! holy cow it hurts....my back muscles have started to tighten up all the way down my back to compensate for whatever is going on with my neck. i don't have any motrin at the shop to take to see if that will decrease the inflammation. will take some as soon as i get home. sigh....sorry to whine.

my lower calorie day is going well.

I have really been focusing on water consumption this round. For every two mugs of coffee I drink, I down a full quart of water. Then I can have the 3rd and 4th mugs of coffee followed by another full bottle of water. The bandana idea might work. I'll keep that in mind. "Loved one by proxy."

I'm sorry, Carrie! I wish you had some Motrin on you. I carry some in my purse. I hope it loosens up soon.

well hello...lots of great conversation in this thread...not much to add other than scale is still on the downward move and i am right into it, mind is there now. whew.

terri; curling, its on the ice but with shoes. i wear runners myself but there are shoe options. its obviously such a canadian sport lol, I'm new to it an am suffering to think of a description; you take these *rocks* and push them down ice to a sort of bulls eye. 3-4 people per team and it involves sweeping. its fun, way more challenging than i thought.

think i am going to try rocking the treadmill tomorrow am, feeling energetic like a run would be good for me. will see.

have a great evening everyone.

Ouchy Bud. I hope you feel better tomorrow. Hopefully you had a nice hot Daisy Girl bath tonight.

Not much movement but the right direction. So tonight I'm scheming. Here's what I'm thinking: Today I did 1679 calories, 85% fat, if I have a significant loss tomorrow I'm going to try alternating high fat days. If I don't, I jumping on P2. Are you currently trying to stabilize or lose?

Every time I get into the exercise groove I either gain or stall so lately I haven't been doing much. I really miss it. I hope to get to "goal enough" soon and get started back. If I don't, I’ll probably start anyway. If I can just get back into walking that would help a great deal. I think I'll push my walking buddy to go tomorrow.

Curling looks like fun, I've seen it on TV. And I'll bet its challenging.

How's your cold? Did you kick it??

good morning. neck feels a little better. more movement in it, but still sore...but more like a sore muscle than being nearly immobile.

scale down 0.6. i guess i'm just figuring out maintaining even tho i'd like to be down 5 more pounds. i think i'll work on the 5lbs later. but in actuality, it seems maintenance takes just as much as losing....or figuring it out anyway... would be so nice to just eat without thought, ya know...

having a girls day with mom and my sisters today! sort of a "bachelorette" party day. heehee... gonna get manicures for sure, and i don't know what else....just hang out. looking forward to it.

Sounds like a lovely day, enjoy. Glad you're feeling a little better.

Not only does maintenance take as much work, it's much harder because you don't have the loses to keep you motivated. But .60 sounds more like losing, nice way to start the day. Just to eat without counting or planning, I think I forgot what that's like

Well I'm down 1.20 today. I actually ended up with over 1700 calories; I forgot to count the HWC in my morning coffee. So I'm going to give alternating calorie FF a try.

Have a wonderful day!

It will happen. The first couple of months of maintenance, I was a zealot about tracking everything that went in my mouth. I find that now I only do it when I'm having something really different...and mostly I do that to check the fat/protein balance. I honestly don't think anything about calories or carbs anymore (heresy, I know)
