Cheese on P3

I have a question regarding eating or cooking with cheese on P3. I have read somewhere that shredded cheese in a bag has starch to keep it fresher longer. I've also read it in the ingredients listed as well. Since we are not allowed to have starches on P3 does everyone just purchase the block cheese and shred it themselves or do you go ahead and use the shredded cheese in the bags without any issues? I was just curious how much of an affect the bagged shredded cheese would have on stabilizing as opposed to the cheese you have to shred yourself. Any thoughts, comments?

Thanks, I never thought of organic shredded cheese. I will have to remember that when I get to P3!

I have used the already shredded in the bag and been just fine. I just don't eat too much to make a difference. I prefer to use the blocked style cheese when I have my cheese with eggs in the morning--just have a hunk on the side of my plate. And use the shredded for casseroles. Just like Atkins (I am an avid Atkins fan) says, you should be cautious of how much you use because you can over eat cheese very easily. I also have used block cheese and shredded that once when I ran out of the pre-shredded kind and that worked out great!! So go with whatever works for you!!

I LOVE cheese, but try to watch how much I eat on P3 - when I read about the starch in the shredded cheese, I started buying the block (it's cheaper) and shredding it with my food processor - then I just put it in a container if the fridge. Not sure if the starch would hurt me or not, but I figured why risk it.

Some shredded brands dont have starch you will have to read the label. Trader joes shredded quattro fromaggio is my favorite.
