Men on hcg?
I'm starting my third round of hcg tomorrow. Today I got the shock of my life when my husband told me he wants to do it too! I am having a hard time imagining him doing it. Of course I didn't tell him that.
I'm worried because he has a huge appetite. He's 6'2", and needs to loose at least 30 pounds. I explained everything I can think of, and he wants to try. He's seen me do it, so he knows what it's all about. He started the drops today, and is staring the diet Saturday. Any advice? |

Hello! My boyfriend started this round of hcg with me because he saw me do so well on it before. The only problem was that in the first few days, he worried about doing the protocol perfectly and making sure the calories were perfect. He felt like he was failing me if he wasn't perfect on it because we were doing this together. I reassured him that his weight losses and gains will fluctuate wildly and to not be too concerned about that. Also, I reassured him that I'm just happy that he's supporting me and that he will get better and better at hcg'ing as we go along. I told him to be patient and see how well he does in the first week before judging himself or hcg. Now, it's day 5 and he's lost 8.4 pounds. He no longer says anything about not liking the protocol or failing me. He loves how he feels and the results. Before you start, just let him know that it will take an adjustment and to be patient for the first week until he figures it all out. Also, let him know that you don't care if he does it perfectly or not, you just appreciate it that you can do it together.

Thanks for the reply! He starts tomorrow! I was wondering if I should give him a little extra meat. I guess I just go with he standard protocol, and add to it if he weakens.
Your boyfriend sounds wonderful! |

I was wondering the same thing with regard to upping the protein. My DH is loading this weekend. The last time he did it with me, he didn't last because he was starving. I think he lasted a week and gave up. Should I up his protein by an ouce or two or go with standard protocol to see how he does. I am not sure and certainly don't want him to be hungry.

I don't do strict Simeon's protocol, I'm on RX and my doctor has a slightly different plan that includes higher protein. I'm a protein fiend and I get fatigued if I don't get enough. I have 2 oz with breakfast and 6 oz for lunch and dinner. I can go as high as 8 oz twice day but I don't stay there. I've lost fine with 2 oz bkfst/ 6 oz lunch and dinner. Maybe not as much as some people, but average over 1/2 a lb a day.
My dr. says if you are over 150 lbs, do the 6 oz, over 200 lbs do the 8 oz. I know it isn't strict protocol, but just wanted you to that some people do more and still lose weight well. |

Hey everyone. My dh is in VLCD3 of Round 2. He is 6' and as of this morning weighs 238.4. He started R1 on 11/7/2011 at 282.0. In 35 days of R1 he had lost 34.6 pounds. We then followed Dr. S. protocol and moved him to P3. He stabilized beautifully. The entire time he was in R1P2 we DID double his protein and give him more of the vegetable. (He is diabetic, no thyroid and has other health issues)
I am so proud of him. So far everything is working just like Dr. S. said it would. Wishing you both well. It is wonderful to do this plan together. Betty

It has been 3 weeks now, and he's still on the diet! The first few weeks were a bear. I even tried to get him to quit, he was so grumpy! He's not losing by leaps and bounds, but not bad...about 15 pounds. He has about 20 to go. We're going two more weeks, so I don't think we'll make it to his ideal weight.
I've only been giving him a few extra ounces of protein a day. He told me today that he know it is fine. He said he actually has more energy than ever! Isn't that amazing? |

Betty, that is great news! I can't imagine how wonderful it is to do this plan with a significant other. What a huge change on so many levels that you get to experience together.
Criosa, so good to hear that he is feeling more energetic. When people give me a hard time about how "unhealthy" they think this diet is, that is generally my response. I trust my body and it is hard to believe it is unhealthy when we feel as good as we do during the process. I never lose the super high numbers others post, but 15 lbs in 20 days is nothing to sneeze at! If a few extra ounces of protein makes me feel better and able to stay on the diet, it is worth it to me. |

My hubby has done 2 round each around 30 days, his second round he re-lost about 17 pounds... he enjoyed his holiday treats. He reached goal his second round 185. He is 6'2" and looks GREAT! I think he has lost over 45 pounds if I remember correct. ![]() My teen son has also lost over 35 pounds doing hcg. ![]() Hubby followed strict Simeons and my son cheated the entire time. Hubby stabilized like a rock the first time and seems to be doing so this time too. Son... he struggles. ![]() I was part of a VERY strict Simeons group my first 2 rounds so straying from the protocol was unheard of in this house. This is now my third and soon to be final round... I have about 30 ish days left give or take to get off my last 10-15 pounds and am REALLY sick of VLCD. I'm doing a FF now but will return to strict VLCD for at least 21 days before concluding my round. I think you are wise to increase protein if needed. My husband did GREAT on both rounds, but the one he took hhcg for he felt very weak throughout the entire round on Strict Simeons. This past round on Rx he felt GREAT! Tons more energy which allowed him to function well on the Strict Dr. S protocol. I laughed at the gal who posted about her hubby being grumpy at first..... that is SOOOOO me during VLCD. I start out VERY grumpy... then it evens out, then off and on throughout I'm miss grumpy gills again . THANKFULLY my hubby has been so wonderfully supportive through it all! ![]() |

. He didn't have any cheats either. It was still a successful round, but, more a typical round loss, like for women. I did 2 rounds. He has more to lose, but, I am not sure if he will do another round or JUDDD with me to lose the rest. I just had to respond to your post because yours is the only one I've seen whose dh lost as little as mine did.

Congrats to BOTH your hubbies!! My son & hubby lose fast. My son even lost well while cheating.... so not fair
.You know... I would not even ask my hubby to join me on hcg my first round until I was in "onederland"... b/c I only weighed a little less than him when I started the protocol ![]() . I felt like a blob next to him b/c I KNEW I weighed almost as much as him.![]() . Now... it is lovely being so much smaller than him! I'm almost 40 pounds less and will be 50 pounds less by the time I'm done with this round. ![]() Hcg is tough! If you are JUDDDing I bet it would be easier on hubby than another round of hcg. Have you ever gone straight to JUDDD from hcg or did you complete phase 3 and 4 b/f you started JUDDDing? OR.. Maybe you never did hcg? Sorry... I'm reading many threads but am not familiar with everyone's WOE history/journey yet, so forgive me if I'm being nosy or asking something that should be obvious. ![]() |

I was shocked and happy when my dh said he wanted to do a round of hcg. This is the first time in our almost 29 years of marriage that he has ever dieted. It's been nice for him to get a glimpse of my world, lol. I am excited at the prospect of a more active/healthy lifestyle together. I am not sure if he is going to do another round of hcg to reach his goal or start JUDDDing it. |

WOW!!! I'm so excited for you and what you and hubby will enjoy since you are both healthier! Thanks so much for sharing your story with me! Did you find JUDDDing to be easy after doing the VLCD? I'm thinking it would be an easy WOE to maintain...especially if having higher cals on DD's allow for maintaining. I don't ever want to be overweight again, let alone obese like I was!! It will NOT happen!! |

Every other day is very easy after completing two rounds on hcg. I am not one of those that ever lost their apetite. I was not that lucky. Each round was a struggle for me. I love JUDDD. Do some reading over on the JUDDD forum. It's very encouraging. There is no feeling of deprivation because nothing is off limits. It's all calorie counting. Honestly, after awhile your body is ready for a down day every other day. Congratulations on your success. Wishing you continued success. I have no doubt you will keep the weight off.

Nice pictures Shirley! My husband is also 6'2", but is only trying for 200 pounds. I'll take whatever I can get. Mostly I just want him healthy, but it's nice when he doesn't have the big round belly.
Your picture by the tree at 160 is amazing! How tall are you? I'm just under 160 pounds, at 5'10, and feel so pudgy still. |

I'm short... only 5'6" BUT I am large framed which I think is why I can carry 150-160 rather well.... as long as I have clothes on at least!
My rib cage, below my chest, has only a little fat left on it and it is 35". I can fit into a 36" bra, nicely now, but don't think I'll ever squeeze into a 34 even when I reach my goal weight of 135. Maybe, but I'll be surprised if it happens. This weight is completely new territory for me. I weighed 155-165 from age 13 - 23, then started having babies and have been obese ever since. I'll be 40 March 15th. I'm hoping to be at goal weight which will mean 100 pounds lost in 13 months! ![]() ![]() ![]() The picture of me and hubby was the one day I hit 148, then the scale went up and I got mad and went into a Planned Interruption where I did not behave... and gained up to 156. Today I was down to 150 after being back on VLCD since Monday. I'm planning to conclude my round sometime between March 7-10 and hope to be close to 135. Thank you for the compliments! ![]() |
