800 Calorie HCG Plan

anyone do this instead of the 500?
just found out about it yesterday, seems the loss rate is about the same
my sister wants to start in February Im thinking this plan might be much more doable for her and her active life~shes already stressing about the 500 cal.

would love some feedback

Sleepy, I have done 2 rounds I adhered to the 500 strict protocol diet. When my dh decided he want to try hcg I was concerned because of his multiple health related issues. He has diabetes, is on medications for high blood pressure, high chloresterol and other issues. We did a version of the diet protocol for him that included more protein and more calories...around 700 to 800 each day. He lost 39.8 and is currently in the last week of R1P4. Oh and just as a side note, he never had to do a correction day during this period. He has stabilized beautifully. Good luck to your ds with whatever she decides.

I did my first round at 500 strict protocol and lost something like 22 lbs net, 28 total, over 5 weeks. After week 2 I was miserable - dry skin, just missing the fat.

I have upped my protein portion by the equivalent of one extra meal a day, and am not counting calories - the vegetables and fruit remain the same. Thus far my losses, as charted in Excel, have been more steady and at a steeper curve than on the 500cal. I have also decidedly gone rogue, adding in different varieties of vegetables (namely green beans, cauliflower, and zucchini) and kept up the good loss. I had one day in which I had to eat a meal provided by work (chicken with skin, broccoli and cauliflower in butter) and still had a loss the next day.

Altogether, I appear to be losing at or better than the rate at which I lost on the lower calorie protocol. I'm happier and more satisfied with my meals. The raging fat cravings are starting to kick in, but as I'm stopping after 3 weeks this time I am pretty sure I can tough it out.

Modifications can be done. I would say, however, if the results are lacking, default back to pure protocol.

Google Omaha Weight Loss protocol. I think that's what you are looking for. It's successful for a lot of people.

I also do rogue and eat more calories and lose better also

the 800 cal plan lets you have 3 egg whites for breakfast
and more fruits and veggies from what i can see

just wondered if anyone around here had success with it

Hmmm.
I think OWL has its uses, but if the issue is increased activity, I think I'd add another protein selection as a breakfast. OWL only allow 7 oz protein daily.

I was thinking about doing protocol with 2-3 eggwhites added for breakfast if I felt sluggish on a workout day.

OTOH, usually just some fruit and some veg does the trick, so maybe omaha is the way to go. I don't adore that theire extra calories come from popcorn and alcohol, though.

Just rambling. I'm conflicted about Omaha.

I'm curious about the "official" 800 cal protocol. I know that I lose better and feel a million times better when I'm eating close to that many calories.

I tried to find it in the book store before Christmas but it was only available as an E-book and I don't have one of those devises. Does anyone have any specifics on veggie choices, differences from Simeons, etc.?

I did 2 rounds of strict 500 calorie protocol and about went nuts from boredom. This round I went 'rogue' and am 'kindof' following the Omaha plan, but I have added in eggs for breakfast. Usually just 1 hardboiled, sometimes 2. I don't keep track of my veggies very closely, and my proteins are slightly more than 100 g. I have a few other minor 'cheats' but stay around 700 cals a day. I honestly believe that I have lost the fastest this round because it is SO much more do-able. May have to also look into the Sonia Russel plan as well- I get bored quickly. lol.

The info I have doesn't say anything about alcohol so maybe I don't have the right info. Also, I am under the understanding that should you choose to eat the popcorn it takes the place of the melba. Is this right? Maybe someone can offer me their wisdom - this if my 3rd round but first time trying something other than protocol. The thing that appealed to me is that basically lettuce is a 'free' food so I can eat other veggies with it and the fruit and veggies list is alot more diverse. But of course I still am not following Omaha 100% either so I guess it doesn't really matter, lol.

I think there are two plans being discussed. The 800 cal plan was outlined by Sleepy, above. The Omaha Weight Loss has the same protein as Simeons except the only shellfish you can eat is scallops or shrimp, no crab. Lettuce and celery are 'free' . 4 cups other veggies per day. YOu get2 fruits, the simeons ones plus cantelope, watermelon and blueberries (might be others, I forget) For your bread choice you can have a whole pack (5) melba, or 2 akmak, or you can pop a smartpop bag (100 cal) and split it for your two bread servings. It also allows pan spray, pickles, sugar free jellies, and other products. You can have 100 cal of alcohol per day as wine or a shot of booze or two ultralite beers.

So in my mind, omaha is just simeons but you get wine, lettuce, and popcorn with no extra meat.

That actually sounds like heaven. I’ve had trouble mustering up the enthusiasm to start another round and get back to where I was before the holidays. I don't remember about the alcohol either. I wouldn't want that every day, but it would sure make the weekends more doable. Has anyone actually lost, adding in the alcohol? I must admit to being a little suspect there.

Terri,
I have to admit that I have had alcohol on all 3 rounds so far and always have had big losses the day after, which I suspect is due to dehydation. Don't recall stalling afterwards but it's possible I did. I just drink vodka and water or maybe diet coke. These were the only off-protocol things I had in my first two rounds. I haven't tried wine or beer. But, I only have done it about 3 times for special occasions because it totally increases my cravings for thinks like nachos and cheeseburgers.

Yeah I know what you mean! I think the weight I gain from drinking has more to do with what I ate along with it or to recover from it.

Did you count the calories in your 500 or whatever plan?

I'm with Emel on this one. If I was to deviate from the original protocol at all, it would only be to add more protein. I can't see the point of being able to have popcorn instead of melba and a drink. I can do without those for 3 weeks. I like my meat! LOL

No, I didn't. I still ate my regular foods those days.
I probably had maybe 4 drinks each time.

Me too - but it's nice to know that on movie night at home I can have some popcorn with my boyfriend or have a drink with friends. Sometimes it's hard to let go of some things when every one else around you is indulging! For me it's more of a social thing, I guess.

I would agree. But (and it's a smaller butt, just not the butt I exactly want ) I admit I'm having trouble getting and staying motivated. And I would really like to get down where I was before the holidays and just worry about stabilizing for while. A long while!

Thanks, I like the idea that we're around the same stats (I'm only 5'1.5"). I just may be able to make this work.

Oh, all I was saying is I'd rather have the extra calories difference between the original protocol and this one with more meat, not popcorn LOL. Popcorn is more calories than my one stupid little melba
I like popcorn some, don't get me wrong - I just like meat better for the calorie/nutrients if you're going to take in 800 calories instead of 500, but that's just my opinion. I admit it'd be nice maybe once during a round but I'm a strictly protocol girl - so far.

I think the debate is rising because people have different reasons for being interested in the alternative plans.

For me, I feel like I need to curtail my workouts and activity because I start to feel puny and weak if I do too much. For me, the answer is to have protein to start my day. THus, the 800 cal plan would be my choice.

For others, the lack of food variety/cooking techniques is an issue. They might wish for a little pan spray or sf jelly to complete a fun healthy recipe. They may want to have resources to help them stick to the plan while enjoying the things in their daily life, like sharing some popcorn on family movie night or Friday night Happy Hour with the girls, or enjoying a fruit platter with melon at a reception. Maybe an extra salad or some extra celery sticks in the afternoon is all they need to nudge themselves to success. These folks should look at Omaha.
