Halfway There! Cravings Anyone?

Hi all! I am getting ready to end my 3rd week of R1P2. Currently on my 19th day with a loss of 18 pounds and 17.5" from (Neck, chest, bicep, waist, hip, thigh).

Another 18 pounds will take me within goal.

Week 1: HUNGRY....detox...hard because I didn't load well.
Week 2: Loved it, no cravings...did really well on protocol.
Week 3: I WANT peanut butter! I don't crave anything else...I am not tempted by the foods my family eats. I just want a spoon of peanut butter. I am also hungrier in the morning and start spreading my meals out a bit more.

What has kept me on protocol: seeing the weight loss and the way my clothes fit. I am bound and determined to lose this weight for good.

Every weekend there is some party where in the past I would have consumed a bottle of wine or two. It has been interesting being the only one sober to say the least. (quite funny actually)

I am however ready for a 3-4 glasses of wine night! How long do I have until I can safely consume a couple glasses of wine?

I haven't decided how many days to go on this. I SHOULD go to 40 to attempt getting closer to goal weight! I am trying to convince myself right now.

Alcohol of any sort was my ticket to weight gain in P3 and P4 - so try and see if you are sensitive to it before you go all out. My lucky little sister lost weight with a glass of wine. I only gain and gain and gain whenever I add in any kind of alcohol.

I was HUNGRY too in week 1 b/c I didn't load as well. So in week 2 I am now doing drops 6X a day instead and hunger has ceased a good bit.

I drank a glass of white zen in P4 of my last round and I don't know if that was it but the scale went up. I'm wondering if a white wine would be better. Guess I need to see what the differences in nutritional facts are if there are any.

Well I don't drink except once every few months, half a glass of something here or there, so I can't help you (and yes, it always made me retain water like crazy!), but I hear you on cravings! It isn't out of control for me, and it's not sugar, I just crave rich, fat-laden protein like rib eye, short ribs, stir fry with plenty of sesame oil, etc. I am counting the days until P3 and refusing to give in for now, but just knowing that food is coming is incredibly helpful. I could never do extremely low fat diets long term, which makes me grateful for P2's short duration.

I am doing a 40(43, if you count the last few days) day round and it's only two weeks more of P2 strictness. I want to lose as much as I can in each round, because getting back INTO the P2 mindset is harder for me than staying in it, if you know what I mean. I can persist a few days more and a few more than that, now that I am in the middle of P2, but summoning up the strictness to do another round is much harder for me. So knowing that, I am doing the longest rounds I can stand to minimize the overall number of them. Your mileage may vary, depending on how your brain copes with the various phases.

Thanks everyone. I can hold out on alcohol and my goal is to do 40(42). A friend of mine has a glass of red wine every night on P2 in place of fruit. I just don't want to jeopardize it.

Are there any threads on when and how to introduce alcohol back in? (I am not an alcoholic, I just enjoy a few glasses of wine one day a week or every two weeks while socializing with friends.)

I can drink on P3 or P4. I like bourbon. I like it very much.

As long as I have no more than 3 very light drinks at a time (an ounce of booze in a tall glass of seltzer), I do fine. I usually lose up to a pound the next morning and then bounce back to my previous weight the next day.

I've been known to drink 3 times a week if there's a lot of socializing going on.

I drank wine a few times, sometimes one glass, sometimes just a half a glass as a spritzer with Perrier. Did fine on that, but I don't drink enough wine to be a good indicator for you.

I think we're all different. Best thing to do is to try it in P3, and again in P4.

Your days of 3-4 glasses of wine may be over. We have to give up the things that cause the weight gain in the first place and if 3-4 glasses of wine was your thing, be done with it. Become a one glass woman.

Peanut butter has a boatload of fat in it. Hang in there. You can have it soon enough. Stay on protocol. You're doing awesome.

I gain with almost any alcohol at this point. I can do a half a glass of dry-ish or something as long as I am completely without any other sugars or starch in P4. I am hoping after this round that can change. I don't drink very much but it's nice to have a glass here and there. I did fine with it after my first 2 rounds, then it was different afterwards with rounds 3,4,5..... So am hoping it changes again!

Also, peanut butter really is a P4 thing, not a P3, due to the legume factor - it's not really a "nut" like almonds, etc. It's a bean, so therefore P4.

I had almond butter in P3, so maybe that is an option IF you are even still craving it. I will crave someting for a few days then I forgetaboutit, ya know? The almond butter I used was ONLY crushed up almonds...I watched how it was made. I actually enjoyed it alot more than PB but it costs more...so I used it very sparingly. I think there might be mac butter, too...???

Right now, I am sooooo craving a huge fatty ribeye because the hubbie had one tonight. I could not even finish my sirloin (which has been just fine and dandy all during both P2s...) becaues I wanted HIS so bad and mine just did not look as good. LOL

Red wine in P2, no gain...but man did I get tipsy lol...
I was able to have red and white wine on P3 and P4 with no problem. HOWEVER, due to eating no sugar, after two glasses of wine I was drunk LOL...so that was my limit. I used to be able to down an entire bottle...lol...
I had wine every night of P3...mostly red, I found that after the diet white wine was too sweet and I got a headache, didn't matter which brand.
Going wine free this P2 however

came to mind right away before i even read your post! god i drooled in the peanut butter aisle at the walmarts the other day - nutella, almond butter, honey peanut butter, all of it, YUM. sigh...

eta: i drank wine and beer during p4 (maintenace). maintained okay, usually did a correction day(or pure protein day, whatever you want to call it) the next day as a preventative measure but always get belly pooch from alcohol so i cut back on my alcohol indulgence big time.

I'm starting to seriously crave fat again. It happened about the 2 week mark last time as well. The thought of bacon and chicken with skin on it sets me drooling. Nut butters make me want.

Day 25....Still going strong. 21 pounds lighter. I tend to have weekend halts. Probably due to a little extra here and there and being home rather than at work where I can control by only bringing my lunch. That and cooking for everyone.

I am over the PB craving and am doing great with protocol foods. I am just so hungry all the time. I CAN'T wait until noon or 6 when I can cook something and eat!
