p3 calorie question
How do you know how many calories to eat on P3? Last time I just started at 1350 (fitpal suggested this for me to maintain my weight) and did fine there but I wasn't working out. This time around I will be working out so should I jump right in at 1650??
Thanks!! |

I would say yes. Shelby might say try even more. You don't want to stabilize at too low of calorie intake.

Do always try to eat the highest level of nutritional calories you can without gaining weight, when focusing on stabilizing and maintaining. For many of us with diet-wrecked metabolisms this can be somewhat lower than some counters recommend, but I always tell people to start at 1800 and move up or down in 200 calorie increments until you've hit the sweet spot.

Thanks everyone! I would love to maintain at 1800 with working out. Not sure if my 5 foot body can handle that but I do love to eat!

AV - Calculate your BMR calories per the info in the other link and factor in your activity level. You might be surprised by the result--I know I was!

Yes indeed, exactly what Shelby said. Especially after resetting with something like the protocol, which re-regulates the metabolism (or that is what is aimed for, anyway) maintenance calories should be comfortable. Even on traditional diets, most women can maintain on 16-1800 a day, many on more than that, depending on their age, activity, and the weight they are trying to maintain.
