Sounds like a great barn day, Cheryl! I can't quite imagine doing that in the kind of cold you are facing, but it does sound tremendously fun, and also tremendously challenging.
Speaking of challenging, OH DUDE! I just did one of the advanced Bar Method workouts, and MAN did I work hard! I made it through the long arms section with the 5 lb weights, and I kept good form throughout, and it is going to HURT tomorrow...lol! I feel very proud of myself right now I'm working on building up that muscle base again, so I can keep my vow about weight and still loose all this goosh. My belly is changing really fast -- I have an honest to goodness flap of hanging skin now... genuinely skin, with very little else under it. It looks quite odd... but the gooshy fat/water retention is leaving... and I am sure the skin itself will tighten in time and with care. I sure hope so! I guess it's true that the gooshy stage preceded a loss.... and I will keep that in mind, as my legs turn into a mobile waterbed.....

I have to remember not to freak if the scale is up tomorrow ... my muscles are likely to be pretty sore and likely retaining water....
It's worth it, though... I am so glad to be working out again |

Hey Gals, you all have been really busy! I was up .8 this morning even though I'm a protocol girl. Didn't have a bm until after I weighed, so that must be it.
I went to JCPenney tonight to find some of my favorite Lee jeans in a size 6 and they fit! Man do they look good on me! I tried on my 8's and they are baggy so I've officially dropped SIX sizes! Still have 12.2 to go and I will get there very soon. I went a bit roguish today and put some cream in my coffee. I've always lost doing this and we'll see. I haven't heard about the position yet, but they said early next week. The only thing that I don't like is that I won't have to take a decrease in pay, but I'm at the cap of the range so probably won't see many raises. My ultimate goal is to be an underwriter with my company (they get paid more than supervisors). I was auto-declined for the two I applied for, but my time will come. Sleep well my friends...

Dude, Cheryl, seriously... my belly is freaky looking! My legs are getting there too.. it is seriously weird. Thank goodness it is winter and I can hide under layers of clothing.
It's also amazing how much of my belly left literally over night... I guess a nearly 2 lb whoosh can do that, when there is only a small amount of fat left to lose in an area... but it is weird nonetheless. I do think I am going to aim for the 95 goal, though I can't say that thrills me altogether.... looking at the gooshy areas on my legs, there is clearly a lot left to lose that is genuinely fat, not muscle. The key will be to work out as I go, so that only fat is lost, and not muscle too. Once I am on p3, I can build back up a bit... but for now, it is losing fat and maintaining muscle... My legs are still really strong, which makes me genuinely happy!!! My arms haven't lost much in strength or stamina, either... indicating that most of what I have lost has been fat, with very little muscle in the mix. I think I had very fatty muscle before, actually -- my muscles are quite strong now, but much longer and less stumpy -- so I do think I lost intramuscular fat. It makes a lot of sense... I built a lot of that muscle in the 80s, eating mainly carbs and doing hardcore cardio -- and that IS a prescription for fatty muscles. It also helps explain why I need to drop so low in weight this time, and why I don't look at all emaciated doing it, whereas I HAVE looked emaciated at this body weight (or higher) in the past -- I am losing excess fat, not structural fat.. and thank goodness for that! I just hope that by the time I get to my avowed stopping point, the gooshy fat is gone.... otherwise, I will not be a happy gal at all. |

DUDE! VIOLET!!!!!! SIZE SIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I bet you are one lean machine now!!! You sure you want to lose any more? I'm totally in support of you reaching what ever goal you set, but it sounds like you are in pretty awesome shape as it is!!!! You are pretty tall... so a six is a very small size on someone of your stature. YOU GO, P2 queen!!!!!!!!! Last edited by minimonkey; 01-13-2012 at 06:51 PM.. |

star Sorry you are getting sick..
Cheryl Brrrr, that sounds cold! I also LOVE pumpkin sausage soup...but my family does not so don't make it often. 128 this morning. Basically no progress this week...but then I didn't really do many low calorie days. I might need to pick up some hhcg to help me out. I'll try another week before doing that...hate how hhcg gives me killer ovulation pains + worse breast tenderness. |

Good Morning! Down .6!
mini, you should have seen the stares and compliments I got at our A.A. meeting last night. It felt good and was hilarious! I thought of that too...the weight range for my height is 129-174 according to this site Healthy Weight Calculator - Find your Healthy Weight Range - myOptumHealth which is what I've seen on more than one site. However, it states that my husband, who is 6'0" has a weight range of 136-184. WTH??? That can't be right. I'm hanging in and may stop at 145 (I want out of the 150's) then I can start exercising and toning up.A woman at my work, who's very insecure almost seemed angry when I told her I'm headed toward a 6 (because she's also in a 6 and is shorter than me). She is always trying to copy me, thinks we are in a competition and I wouldn't be surprised if she went down to a 4. She made a big deal of the fact that I'm four inches taller than her too. And??? She's a trip, is 52 and looks fantastic, but I don't compliment her too much because she fishes for them and then puts herself down. I can't seem to find many 6 Longs and I figure it's because most women my height are in an 8 or 10. I got 6 M and the length is long enough and no concern of them being floods. ![]() Have a great day everyone! ![]() Last edited by Violet_Dream; 01-14-2012 at 05:15 AM.. |

Cheryl, I hit advanced just for you1
![]() ![]() Seriously though, I'm loving your barn work talk. We sold and/or put all our animals (bunnies included) in the freezer last month. We just needed a break for the winter and time to work on the fencing and pins. We'll start fresh with all new babies in the spring. I hate doing barn chores in the winter and with DH working such long hours and my issues I'm trying to work on I begged for the winter off. Keep the stories coming! Paula, who doesn't love pumpkin sausage soup? My whole family loves it and my 4 year old had a fit when I bowled some up for grandma's house. I do add extra seasoning and of course a little extra sausage, some kale and triple the pumpkin and water. So it's a bit of a change up. I can't wait to get it out for lunch today. It's always better the next day!Violet- WOOT! WtG on the size 6! ![]() ![]() That's where I'm at for the most part. i might be able to go down to a 4. I hate that stupid BMI thing though. DH is also 6 foot at at 183 he looks sickly. For me it says 122-164. I'm sitting at 139 today and I'm told I look too thin. Mini- Kudos on the class! I also lose in spurts. Like it'll be nothing then bam it's gone! I hate that as One time I bought a pair of pants which the fit was amazing. And 2 days later they were too big! More personals latta! DH is working for another hour so I'm going to get a run in. We're hitting an ice sculputre festival today and then going sledding. I have all my soups and cocoa's ready and the kids are bouncing off the wall with excitement. Just need daddy! My weight was great considering TOM is here. 149.2! I'll take it. I treated myself to a lowcarb english muffin with sugar free orange marmalade for breakfast and a 1/2 of a grapefruit. A total of 175 calories of yumminess. Hmmm, I should have added some coconut oil in there too. I need the fat to keep me warm being outside all day!

VLCD12 and stayed the same today (165.7)...which was totally expected since I had major drops this past week. Any drop after this is Virgin Fat Territory for me...last time I was anything under 165 was 16 years ago before getting pregnant with my first son!
Getting nervous about P3 after having such a horrid time last time stabilizing but I do have Leptin in my back pocket this time |

Down 1.7. I'm a little amazed actually, considered I substituted my pretzels for a chocolate yesterday and ate tuna, and had a little bit of parmesan in my omelet in the evening. But, hey, I sure am not complaining.
If I'm down tomorrow I'll be amazed. I have a work function tonight and I will be required to eat the food there. There will, at least, be a gluten-free option, but there will certainly not be anything resembling protocol. I've given myself the permission to eat what I want within reason, even if it means a gain and 4 days of no loss.

![]() Coconut milk fasts tend to drop the pounds really fast for me, so maybe that'll not only help your throat, but the scale, too. Violet -- whoooohooo on blowing everyone's heads away with your SIZE SIX jeans!!!!!!!!!!
If you have trouble finding longs, maybe I can send you the parts I have to cut off all my jeans to make them fit, and you can sew them to the bottom of yours??? lol. I looked at that weight page you listed... it likes BIG ranges! It said I could weigh from 95 to 128 at my height.... hello? That is more than a 30 lb range! Wow! And as for your husband's weight... my 6 foot sweetie was just at 140 a few weeks ago, and looked utterly sick and horrible... so that is definitely wrong! |

My low from yesterday stuck!!! I am the same today... and given how flippin' sore my arms are, that is pretty miraculous. I wasn't even going to get on the scale, but am glad I did.
Only minor soreness elsewhere, but my arms and chest are definitely feeling it today -- that's a pretty killer arms set, and a ton of pushups and reverse pushups as well.... so I earned the soreness. It's protein for me today, and some fat ....emphasis on the protein, though. |

Paula -- sorry you aren't seeing progress this week. I hope you don't need to go back to the hhcg, if it affects you that much... but I do know the frustration of being stuck, and the willingness to do most anything within reason to get to goal. Hopefully this is just a temporary blip and the progress will pick up again!

Having a great day with the kiddos! Managed to get my run in then some sledding. Came back home for lunch and now my husband is napping while I bathe kids and play princess with my daughter (hair, makeup and nails). She made her first solo run down the sledding hill. I'm pretty proud as she was so afraid! It's a pretty big hill!
I love reading how everyone makes hhcg work for them. Gives me hope that I can somehow incorportate this into a regular thing even after I hit goal. Ok, now it's time to get everyone moving for the ice sculpture show and then we're going out to dinner! Yes, no dishes! |

Cheryl, I am NOT posting a picture of my gooshy butt on the internet, no matter how much you refuse to believe me...lolol!
I think ten pounds from here ought to do it.... any remaining goosh can be replaced slowly with muscle as I go. If I really get to 95 and still think there is weight to lose, I'll re-think it, but I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. At 95, I really should be pretty lean.... I have to remember that 10 lbs is a lot on my little frame. |

Cheryl -- yes, apparently that is true, about the fatty muscles. It was the wisdom of the 80s that cardio and low fat would make you lean out, but it turns out not to be very true... what you ended up with were a lot of people who dropped to ridiculously low/unhealthy weights, but still had a lot of intramuscular fat -- but who lost structural fat, and ended up looking way too thin in the face, and such.
That's why so many people ended up getting fat despite dieting and doing cardio, or had to stay at increasing starvation levels just to maintain... or so I have read, in any case. It does correspond with what Nola posted about spinning as an exercise.... |

I think that also led a lot of people to the idea that they would "bulk up" if they exercised -- they did have bulky muscles, but it wasn't muscle density. Some of the mid to late 90s FIRM tapes are testament to this ... the instructors have gotten fairly bulky over the years, despite exercising like crazy women....
Truly dense, lean muscles take up very little space -- and it takes a ton of work to get those kind of muscles to grow and get bigger. |
