Help PLEASE with p3/p4 stabilization!!
This post is about my sister. She is about 3 weeks into P4 and up until this point she has had to do correction days about every 3rd day. I told her about the Leptin reset principals and she has been sticking to them and today is the 4th day I believe. She gained one lb today, and gained 1 lb yesterday. I am so frustrated to see her struggling so badly. She is a twin and they both did their rounds together; one sister has stabilized with no problems but she has had nothing but problems!! Can anyone suggest any ideas for us to research? Any thoughts about why she is having such a hard time? She basically cannot tolerate *any* carbs without gaining. I feel so bad

Some bodies just respond differently!
I'm pretty sensitive usually, but after I accepted a slightly higher weight range, I stabilized much better. It could be set points (maybe her body is gravitating toward a weight she used to be?) or sensitivities to something she's eating, or too many calories overall... it could be any number of things. Time really helps, and as annoying as it is, taking the carbs really slowly helps. Especially around the holidays it must be hard and frustrating for her. The CD's still help me and it's been 5 months since my last round. I'm about 2lbs out of my range most of the time, but I can eat a lot more freely and stay stable. HTH

I'm just throwing this out here....I could not hold onto the 140's what-so-ever...so my last P4 when I started gaining... I started another round and lost to the 130's. I stayed on the round for 28 days and when I got to the mid-130's my losses started slowing down...and at 28 days, I stopped. For whatever reason, I continued to lose in P3...but overall, I am under my LDW 2 or more pounds consistently. I never had to do a correction day whereas I was doing corrections days every other day the two previous rounds (eventually gaining it all back) and I am now in P4 and maintaining nicely
![]() It may be that my body didn't like the 140's and needed a new set weight...but I know I am maintaining 135. She might try another round to see if it helps ![]() Hey Julie!! ![]()

Is she fine so long as carbs aren't introduced back in? Some people just can't tolerate starch or sugar, and that is just their lot. If she could handle them previously without weight fluctuations I'd look and see if her calorie level is too high to maintain her current weight, regardless of the macronutrients breakdown.
But post P3, especially, adopting a more paleo diet really is going to work the best. Keep sugar and starch as minimal as possible, only introduce a serving every few days to see which ones, in particular, are causing reactions. |

I find that I actually do better with a little sugar than a little starch - and certainly not the 2 together - Like Simeons says, that is a fast weight-gainer for me, especially when still keeping fat pretty high like most lowcarbers do. I would definitely back off the starch, perhaps do a P2++ kind of thing, eliminate all dairy, nuts, etc and get as stable as she can. And then, after getting through the first 3 weeks, if her weight is up an extra pound or two, it just may be what her body wants, and no amount of struggle will keep it lower. I routinely stabilize right at the tip top of my 2-pound range and sometimes somewhat higher. And doing another round may be just the thing, since every P3/P4 is different.
