Day 1, HCG drops, Newbie kinda', journal

Ok Ive been anticipating this first post, but todays my first day in taking HCG fusion - so I figured its time I get it over with as I really want to keep track of what im doing.

My history- Ive been lowcarbing for years. Was incredibly successful my first time around... 8-9 years ago? Lost about 50 lbs, and kept it off for quite some time. I discovered this site back then and have been coming here on and off lurking, for years.

Anyway, got nervous when Id see the scale go up and down, with 'life happening' and began going to the gym to sort of compensate for days I wasnt so lowcarb. Well this was around the ephedra era boom so I began to take ephedra to help with my work outs. Took it for a few years, pretty much daily. Never extreme amounts - but daily none the less. Eventually, the truth behind ephedra surfaced and I knew Id have to give it up. After years of this stuff, my metabolism was completely screwed in the sense that its functioning was entirely dependent on taking the ephedra - and its never been the same since. I shot up about 120-130 lbs (this is a teeny blurry bc i spent some time not weighing myself) in an incredibly frighteningly quick amount of time after i stopped. A year I believe, if that. (scary, so scary)

Now I will admit that I did not help the situation and ate plenty to justify weight gain, however I had never weighed this much in my entire life and truly believe i never would have, had it not been because of the long term ephedra use & stopping of it.

This very rapid weight gain resulted in many health issues. High bp. High sugars. High cholest.

Over the last 3-4 years I have been on the journey of losing this weight naturally. Ive done a good job. (pats herself on the back. haha)

Ive lost 60lbs in alternating of lowcarb alone, and lowcarb coupled with exercise.

Im at a stall. My doctor commends me on weight loss. My numbers are amazing and shes spoken of gradually taking me off meds as my numbers are really good but im not quite there yet. She says "youre steady", but I dont want to be steady. She agrees that Im very good at maintaining, but that im obviously stuck. I told her about my hcg desire and she didnt seem frightened. Said she'd had another patient try it and that they were indeed very successful. States shes not very educated on it but wished me the best of luck.

I want to lose another 60lbs. Thats my absolute ideal goal. I wish wish wish & hope that it will work.

Some might wonder why Id dare attempt another kind of diet supplement - but ive really researched the hcg diet and have honestly read so much more good than bad. I am young, but arent getting any younger- and believe that this is the absolute time for me to make this happen as I am getting older and know that the type of weight loss that this kind of diet results in, can only mean good things for me.

I hate to get sappy but I really feel like I've been stuck in a nightmare in this current body of mine. I dont feel like myself, I feel like Im never sincerely smiling, im incredibly insecure - and I just want a life where my faults, the bad in my life, my issues - arent all due to my being overweight. I want to take control of things and of my existence, and I want to like myself again. And while yes i certaintly mean physically, I also mean I want to be a fan of the person who can begin and follow through & be successful at a woe again.

I have chosen this specifically also because I am so good at maintaining and I eat lowcarb probably, and honestly - 90% of the time anyway so have no fears about the different phases coming on and the capacity of keeping the weight off once ive lost again.

Im tired of this weight. I want to get under. I want to lose these last 60 lbs before my 20's are over damn it.

So day one of taking my HCG fusion and am loading up on bad food.

8-9 years ago on lowcarb alone:
started @ 200 ended at 150-160

ephedra for years

got off ephedra

shot up to ~280+

dropped 60

Currently at 225

goal is 160 so really, my goal is 65lbs

Whew I feel naked. Ah well, I want to start off honest.

Wow! You have quite a story but I know how you feel sister! My "thinner" life began in my 40's--don't wait that long! I post in the lobby but I really wanted to learn more about HCG. Reading and learning, I guess you would say. Please let me know how you are doing! I heard wonderful things as long as you stick to the plan. Keep me posted-would love to know how it works out for you!

Hi Anonjourney. It is really important if you follow Dr. Simeons Protocol that you be taking the hcg the 2 days you are loading with high fat foods. You will be less hungry and more successful if the hcg is in your system before you go to the 500 calories. Have you read Pounds and Inches? Really will give you an indepth understanding of the whole protocol and his reasoning and research.
Again, welcome and wishing you success with your journey.

Sounds like you have a plan!!

hcg has been a new experience for me, I love it, I love being able to eat normal between roundsd. I like the idea of re-setting a damaged metobilism.

Best of luck and will look forward to seeing your progress.

As was said, best advise is to follow Simeons protocol and take the drops for two days while you are loading before jumping into that low cal phase, to make sure you get the hcg into your system.

ok so last I checked (Friday) I was down half a pound. I havent checked in since in fear of the unfavorable because I also got my TOM on Friday. Im waiting for that to go away so im going to weigh in tomorrow morning. eek.

now I had almost stayed on the plan entirely, except I had some red wine on Saturday night, and yesterday I had hot wings - but didnt have my apples or bread. NO cheating with carbs though? :'( Anyway thats what I like to tell myself when im entirely dissapointed at my cheating.

So yes, this is where Im at. And im being totally honest though i did contemplate not fessing up as I am ashamed of those cheats!

todays been a good day, had my chicken and greenbeans so far + my hcg.

Hi everyone. This is my first time with HCG and my stats are similar to anonjourney's so I'm thinking of journaling here too.

I'm taking the homeopathic drops. I was 224 lbs after loading for two days and after one day of VLCD I am 220. Down 4 lbs in one day is awesome! Although the loading put me up a few lbs.

Okay, P2 morning of day 4: 216lbs. I'm down 8 lbs after just 3 full days!!
Days 1 and 2 I only had 350 calories and yesterday I barely made 300. I have to try and increase today.

I'm so heavy and I don't eat much, even b4 the protocol. So many times I would go to my Drs. (I've tried several different Drs.) and would tell them, "you have to figure out what's wrong with me. I only average about 800-900 calories a day."

I know that they never believe me. I mean to look at me it looks like all I do is sit around eat cheesecake and potato chips. But I don't. I get full very easily. I'm convinced that the calories in, calories out theory is wrong. At my weight I'm supposed to be burning over 2000 calories a day if I just sit around and do nothing. My metabolism has to be super slow because even eating so little, my scale only goes up.

I used to weigh only 103 and that was after having my four children. Yes, something is wrong with me and I am hoping HCG will correct this insanity.

So far, so good, but I have a long way to go so...

Felina, have you read Pounds and Inches? That was very informative to me about obesity. You are right your issues (like many of us) have nothing to do with gluttony!! Amazes me how some Drs. and dietitians still cling to these erroneous assumptions!!!
As Dr. Simeons recognized, children raised in the same family environment eating the same foods can be very different. I know in my family my brother 3 years younger than I was was always skinny I was ALWAYS fat as a child (continued that pattern my entire life til now). I was "dieting and worrying about every thing I ate going to fat" when I was 10 years old. Friends would eat candy, cake, pie, ice cream, pizza, chips (all those wonderful carbs and junk) never gain an ounce. I'd gain weight watching them eat it. lol
It simply has to be something other than what we eat!!!
Hcg seems to be the closest thing I have EVER seen to solving the whole metabolism thing. Wishing you all the luck in the world with this protocol.
Betty

Thanks, katiesmemaw. At least I get support here from people who understand.

Today my weight is at 208.5. I'm on day 12 of VLCD and down 15.5 lbs. So far, so good.

Way to go!!! KUTGW!!
This is an amazing journey you are on!!!
I'm in maintenance after 2 rounds that started July 3, 2011. I just finished up Round 2 Phase 4.
In the last (almost) 6 months. I NEVER had to do a correction day. I stabilized beautifully and I'm now eating like I never have been able to do without gaining weight immediately!!! I pray that this continues!! I will continue to weigh every day and I have NO PROBLEM recording everything I eat so that I can continue to calculate and correct any issue I may cause myself. I am worth every minute I spend on this and I WILL NOT backslide into to gross obesity!!!!! There, that's my list of New Year's resolutions. lol
Watching you Felina and Anonjourney as you succeed in the coming months!!!

You are sweet to give me such kind remarks. I'm glad you and your daughter are doing this together. It is sooooooo much easier to have a partner. A friend and I did the first round together and another friend came along on R2. Now my dh and dil are both on the plan too. Good luck to you two. and Merry Christmas!!!

Not so good news. The past two mornings I didn't lose at all. In fact I gained a half lb.!!! Despite eating only around 350 calories. I'm doing my best and don't believe I've done anything to put me off track.

I'm not too worried yet. I'm getting complements from people, my clothes are looser and it's getting much easier to do things so I can't complain. Still, I'd be much happier if that scale went down a little each day.

See, that's just more proof that they're wrong with they're calories in, calories out theory. If it was all a matter of simple math, I couldn't help but lose everyday on a 350 calorie diet. But there are other factors going on. That's why HCG is so important to me. I hope to correct all of this.

Anyway, I tried eating more yesterday. I heard from others online (and from my daughter) that they lose better when they eat closer to the 500 c.limit. So yesterday my calorie count came exactly to 500. It's 5:00 am and I'll weigh-in about 8:30. I hope that scale heads south.

Ah ha, no doubt about it!!! You were NOT eating enough!!! Less does not result in more loss on hcg. Also you will do yourself damage in terms of protein deficiency if you do not eat enough. Good for you to do the 500 yesterday. BUT, a word of caution. Don't get flustered and take it as gospel that it isn't necessary if you don't show a loss today. It may take a couple of days. Tooooooo many factors that come into play. Water gain, stress etc etc. Trust the plan. IT WILL WORK exactly as Dr. Simeons said it would work in Pounds and Inches. More than that Felina...this will be the LAST diet you will EVER have to do if you follow the plan. Honest......if I did it ANYBODY can do it!!!!

I see everything else has been answered, but I wanted to pipe in where it says you eat so liitle and still gain. this is me I ate between 800 to 850 and could not lose a pound, well not true Id lose one and gain two. My Dr was the same way, eat less and move more. Anyhow I say this to tell you to go to an endo and have them check your thyroid. Sounds like you are hypo thyroid. I am and now Im on meds. Im am getting reday to start HCG this weekend.

My thyroid has been checked several times and it is fine. What does an Endo do? A more thorough testing? I would love to find that whatever is wrong with me can be fixed by taking a pill.

Anyway, today is day 18 of VLCD and I am down 18 lbs. I did have to do an apple day yesterday because the scale hadn't moved in four days. It wasn't hard. I could only manage three apples though, so I didn't notice that I was peeing more than usual. Dr. Simeon's says the apple is supposed to act like a diuretic. Oh well, I was down a pound and a half the next am so that's fine with me. I don't know if I'm going to continue losing now, or if I'll get stuck again.

I'll let you guys know.
