need some advice (dawn maybe?)
hi everyone!
i did p2 successfully and dropped 30 pounds for my wedding in May. i have stayed about 5 pounds over my ldw and have about 10-15 to go before i am truly happy. i tried atkins but did not have great results. after about 5 pounds i couldnt stay in the midframe to stick to it. i do much better on a very restrictive diet where i know exactly what to eat and when, and i loved hcg. plus DH is gone till xmas so im only cooking for myself. here is my predicament. i did one short and one long round of p2, and once i was on p3 (around mid may) i stopped my BC (ive been on it for 10 years) and also stopped the steroids i had been taking for 6 months for crohns. i suffered some pretty extreme hair loss....i would esitmate about half my hair judging on my ponytail. enough that DH and family mentioned something. its growing back, albeit very slowly. i would LOVE to do a short round to lose the extra pounds before xmas but i am terrified that i will suffer more hair loss. i cant tell if it was the extended round, the steroids, or the BC (or all three) that made it fall out. i was taking vitamins during p2 although not religiously. any advice on how a short round might affect me? i know all three separately can cause hair loss and i think combined it was the perfect trifecta...but im curious as to what you all say. as a sidenote i still have a bottle intermountain pellets that is 1/4 used from May. think it is still good? |

Oh, I am no good on the hair thing. Mine is just fine, even with me doing the hcg for 2+ years. But I don't have the issues you have had. I was only taking hcg, not BC or steroids. I know that others are taking Biotin for the hair loss--or to prevent it from happening while on P2.
As for the pellets--I haven't used them either LOL. So I don't know how good they would be. But I do know that I have used opened bottles of homeopathic hcg drops from rounds past with no issues. If I were you I would try them and see how they work out. No need to waste them if they are still good.

shoot, thanks anyways! i am betting that it was the combo of all three, especially with how much the steroids made my hair grow. im going to pound the vitamins this time and use a prenatal instead of regular multi

I have had serious hair issues in the past with low cal/low carb dieting. To the point that my hairdresser was like "OMG what the he11 are you doing to your hair???" Weird breakage, weird growth, weird loss.
On hcg, I made sure to get the best supplements to prevent hair loss and my hairdresser now is very pleased. I have more and thicker hair than I've ever had in my life. Instead of a prenatal, get a good B100 and take 10,000 to 15,000mg biotin (capsules, if you can find it) daily. (Prenatals and multi's are pretty useless.) I'd also take a good iron supplement--iron (bi)glycinate is a good one that doesn't upset your stomach. Probably 50-100mg daily of the iron. I did the pellets and I have a bottle leftover from May that I'll use for my round in January. I think as long as they have been stored in a cool dry place that they are probably fine. |

Hi Abby, I had the hair loss thing going too. I'm currently in R2P4day2. My hair has always been fine as frogs hair anyway and I actually look like I've had Chemo right now. Short short short. I did take Shelbyla's advice and got some Biotin Capsules BUT I am so bad about taking them. They won't do me any good in the bottle, lol. Good luck to you.

I hope I don't insult anyone here for recommending this. But one thing you might consider if your hair loss is really bad is supplemental hair. I was born with an inherited condition that causes my hair to completely fall out from time to time. So I wear wigs full time. My only regret is that I didn't start doing this earlier in life. The hairpieces that are out there right now are so realistic that you'd never even know someone was wearing synthetic. And they're extremely light, cool and comfortable too. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more info.

i would love to avoid that route if possible. i had never had hair loss before, and didnt until i stopped p2 and the hcg and started p3. i had read that hair loss usually starts when the body is repairing itself after a significant loss in vitamins/calories, when you re-up them to a normal level. i want to do antoher round SO badly but im so scared ![]() |

I can really sympathize with you on this. I would definitely avoid it if I could too. I've had this problem since I've been about 12, so I feel blessed that there are options out there for someone like me. But if I thought that vitamins, biotin, etc. might help, I'd be all over that.
