Stupid exercise!

I've been doing HCG long enough to notice that when my normally somewhat sedentary lifestyle suddenly gets a mega-dose of exercise (typically in the form of walking all over my favorite Mouse's theme park), my weight shoots up. I've read, it's probably that I'm just retaining water in my suddenly overworked and sore, achy muscles. (As I've been sticking to my P3 foods, bringing my own with me for the most part.) But how long can I expect my weight to be up from excess exercise?

It's hard to pass up on so many goodies when I'm in the park, but it's even harder when I know my weight is going to go up regardless of how good I am with my diet!

Any thoughts on how I can keep the scale from going up while I'm touring Disney? Cutting back on the walking there is kind of impossible...

I would say start a regular exercise program of walking, which is in place prior to Disney anyway, that way, when you go to Disney, you will be more used to it, and your body should not rebel by holding water to repair muscles that are not used to walking that much. That would be my answer to the problem!!

Been home from Disney for four days, and my weight is STILL up at the top of my range (LDW: 153, currently: 155). I even did a Steak Day yesterday, and my weight didn't budge!!!

It's not helping that my mother keeps telling me that maybe this is where my weight is supposed to be... I'm still considered "overweight"!!! And I spent a whole week barely budging from my LDW while I started on this P3. Why can't I just get back down there? Sheesh...

I'll have to start walking more perhaps... don't know how, but I guess I gotta try. Thanks, Cat. I hope even with walking my weight will shift downward eventually.

I have been trying for almost 1.5 years to get below 150s... I tend to stay in this range, then go up and down... and its very frustrating. I dropped to 149.2 a few days ago, and then back up to 151.6 for several days, still hoping to drop again back to 140s... so expecting 135 is a pipe dream for me, but I am keeping hold of the dream either way. If you do not exercise regularly, starting a program could very well get you to your goal... I am already an avid exerciser, every day, so that does not help me unfortunately

Every time I start trying to exercise, my weight shoots up and it scares me! So I stop.

Maybe I'll get back on the Wii Fit... I like some of those activities, and the fact that I can compete with hubby and my kids adds a bit of thrill. Ooh... I haven't been on since I was in the upper 150s... so according to Wii Fit, my weight will show a big drop! That should be motiviating too! Haha!

So what phase are you at, Cat?

I am in P2 right now, and hope to find 140 by Christmas!! If you are consistent with the exercise, your muscles will adjust and you will stop gaining with it, and start losing. Its also very addicting, in that you feel so much better when you do it consistently. Even if not for the weight loss, I recommend it for the mental part of it. I used to be the worst couch potato you ever saw at 240 lbs, but I run 3-5 miles every morning now, I love it!! And yes, motivation is a great thing to see on the scale too!!!

Ha! I'd be lucky to be able to run 1/4 mile! I'll have to start a little slower... good job on your part though!

Good luck with P2... I found I this last round that I needed a Mini Steak Day boost here and there. Otherwise, I was not going down much.

TTFN! Out with the kiddos...

Yay! Returned with the kiddos... sent them to reading time, and I got on the Wii Fit - 23 minutes of aerobic exercise! I don't want to overdo anything, so I'm thinking if I just start with about 20 min/day this week, maybe I'll be ok... bump it up by around Thanksgiving? We'll see...

BTW... I even beat my son's rhythm kung fu top score! Now he's eager to get back on the Wii Fit too... wants to beat my score! Good! Positive parental pressure to get my little bookworm / human calculator to move a little more!

You are so not alone! I have had several people tell me that I should stop losing weight, but I am only 5'3 and am still 150, which is awesome, but not where I want to be.

working out

OK newbie here...reading what you said...so if I'm already in the habit of walking ( i do hills) ...when I start the HCG, will my body already be used to that kind of high heart rate work out? and wont start feeding off muscles and go into starvation mode?
I'm not trying to speed up the weight loss with the lunch walks...it just keeps me motivated and keeps me way from snacks.
