Bread + Fat = Steak Day

Simple equation.
Apparently, I still need to remind myself daily.

Fried foods get me to steak-day-status in a New York minute!!

If only steak days worked back to back, I'd be doing just fine!

This is my first winter being thin; and MAN do I ever seem to go for the "comfort food" when it gets cold!

Bread is evil. Wheat is the devil. Of course I'm gluten intolerant so I am biased, but honestly, Dr. Davis has convinced me wheat is no good even for people who are supposedly gluten tolerant.

Even my skinny young male asian friend discovered, after quitting the wheat, that he was eating less spontaneously and still quite happy with his food intake. Bread makes you eat, and often it makes you eat more bread. It does horrible things to your blood sugar and insulin and then spurs you to go eat more things that will do horrible things to you. Avoid at all costs!

Sorry you are having trouble! My son is gluten free (and a "bunch of other stuff" free), and I've definitely done better when not eating bread, or eating sprouted grain breads!

I stick to Ezekiel almost exclusively for any of the bread I do eat, and that's not even very much. I have found, after being wheat free, that I just *feel* so.much.better.it's.such.a.difference!

If you're gluten free and doing hcg, what do you eat to replace the melba toast?

I got Glutino breadsticks. 3 breadsticks is 20 calories. If you get the pretzels, 4 pretzels is just around 24 calories. I had no problems losing with this food.

Frustration understood! I hate how easily I can gain... especially compared to hubby who has been able to throw in an entire bagel with cream cheese or a full meal at Olive Garden (breadsticks included) without entering any danger zone!

I'm in a constant process of developing my own acceptable comfort food. Maybe you can too... just browse some low carb recipes and make your own adaptations. Creamy soups, gravy, mashed potatoes - all stuff I start craving in Thanksgiving/Christmas season, but it's tons of starch! So I've used pureed veggies to start thickening soups and gravies, and I've used cauliflower mash to substitute for potatoes... my tastes have adjusted so that I don't even miss the old stuff any more!

Good luck to you...
