not sure why on the turkey...in P&I it just says not all fowl is the same and only chicken...no duck either. The duck I understand because it is really fatty. But also somewhere it talks about why only certain foods and what he explained is although certain vegies, fruit, and meat are good for you and might even be healthier (like broccoli), they just don't break down the same way the allowed foods do. Basically, the hcg allows your body to break down fat in your body by not having to break down food you put in...so with foods not on the list, you body focuses on these instead of the fat in your body...make sense?

I don't know why turkey isn't allowed specifically but it is not on the list of foods in P&I. I wanted to make sure that I did NOTHING that would make me fail and that included eating only what was on the list (regardless of protein content, availability of food in the 50's, etc. etc.). I figured there was a reason that Dr. S specifically didn't include some veggies even though they were available back then and have similar calorie/nutrient count so there might be a reason that he didn't include some proteins, as well. He also didn't add them in later versions of his diet in the 70's when things like canned tuna and turkey were widely available. If you eat it and still lose, go for it. If you stop losing or slow down, it might be the tuna. It might also be hormonal fluctuations, water retention, or the phase of the moon. Good luck whatever you decide!

Started at 183.2 am down to 160.7 yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! would like to get to 140 - 135 so I'll be doing another round in about 10 weeks. It really hasn't bee too bad just yesterday was rough for some reason, could be hubby was making lasagne and it smelled wonderful. He takes care of his own suppers pretty much right now which is nice. i can't deny him his food just because I'm trying to lose weight.
