HCG Newbie...and holidays
Hello. I have been on and off of these boards for awhile and am back for help once again....
![]() I ordered some HCG drops (last Thursday) and am waiting on them to arrive. I think that I am mentally ready to give this a go and have watched all kinds of youtube channels, researched, and read alot. Here is my only concern... I do not want to fail because of timing. Does that make sense? Here we are right before Thanksgiving and I want to go on yet another diet. I know this will work for me as I am ready to give it my all...but will my "all" be strong enough for Thanksgiving? That is really all I am worried about as I will be done with P2, if my counting is right, a few weeks before Christmas and I have "done Christmas" on very low carb quiet a bit...well...you know how that goes...LOL. The way I have planned it, if my drops get here in time, I will start my gorge days this weekend (I am hosting a very food involved Bridal shower weekend and this works out well for gorging... ). I will then be on P2 for 30 days as that is how long my drops SHOULD last. Then I will have P3 take me thru Christmas and New Years and start another round in Febuary.Am I setting myself up for failure with the "timing"? I am so geared up for this that I do NOT want to wait until after the holidays to start. I can go to a party and not eat...no problem...but the family events (Thanksgiving at my home!!!!, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day) are my worries with all the goodies just sitting around. And my family is an EATING kind of group. ![]() I am very energised waiting for the HCG to get here!!!! I can not stand waiting. I am excited to get this going. I guess what I am seeking is advice and encouragement and some TOUGH LOVE if needed. Thanks. Tiff |

A couple of thoughts come to mind.
1) The HCG does wonders with curbing the appetite. So that is a plus. 2) Planning is everything. I plan my menu according to protocol every day. I have been blessed with seeing the scale go down, so that motivates me to keep with my plan. 3) Determination is everything. How determined are you? Will you stick to protocol over the holidays? You can do it, if you are committed from day one. I really think that this is a doable plan no matter what time you decide to start. You can look at the holidays as a challenge to take on and overcome. Just imagine how excited, proud and motivated you will feel on the other side of the holiday to see the scale move down! The other day a vendor brought in piping hot Krispy Creme donuts, while other at work were enjoying them, I easily passed them up. I felt such satisfaction, that I did not cave in. My point is that everyday we are faced with the choice of eating poorly or not. We get to decide and we are either rewarded with losses or punished with gains. But we choose. This board is great for support, so give a shout if you need support. I know you can do this. We are all here for you and cheering you on. Wishing you great success! Winders |

![]() Tiff....So glad you are here!!!This is a remarkable journey!!! You can definitely do this!! BUT.......in order to do this diet you MUST be ready to make life changes!! The great thing about hcg is you will see immediate results. Either way you will know that it's working. If you cheat....you will see immediately the weight!!! If you stick with protocol....you will see the weight fall away!!! Read P&I (sounds like you already have in all your research). Dr. Simeons spent 25 years researching and developing the plan that WORKS!! (Wish he had continued to research and develop the plan even further!!!) One of the great things I've found about this diet is that you will learn how to eat healthily!! Follow the phases and follow them precisely. Great luck to you and we'll be here for you!!! Ask questions and look for that support!!! Betty ![]() |

HI Tiff
DH and I had the same dilema. My Dr told me about HCG a few weeks ago and originally we were going to start in January. THANKFULLY my DH convinced me that there is no point waiting and we had our load days last weekend and are on our 3rd day. I'm really glad we started already because I would probably be 20lbs heavier by Christmas if I continuted eating the way I was eating. Thanksgiving is going to be ok for me, I'm not a big fan of stuffing/pumpkin pie. I'm a little worried about Christmas but I'll be in P3 and will have more choices so I should be ok. For me, I'm just soo sick and tired of being this big and seeing the scale move up and up. I want to get this weight off and keep it off. It's such a nice change to step on the scale and see the numbers go down GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank you so much for responding. I am VERY determined to do this so when I get my drops I will start. They are not here, yet...but I am even looking into a local place to get them if they are not here by the weekend. I was really hoping to use the weekend and the activities planned, as my load days....we will see. I keep thinking about using Thanksgiving as my load days but that seems too far away to wait. I am so ready.
![]() OMG...I am a little peeved, however. I just remembered that TOM came for a visit today. You are not supposed to start the drops durring TOM, are you? How long after must I wait? He has not been around the last few months (did a few preg tests because we are trying for that...one reason I need to get the wait off, I think it is messing with me...anyway the preg test are always negative). Here he comes at the time he is MOST not welcomed. ![]() I was a rockstar on the old Kimkins diet (no lectures please), even durring the holidays...so I am hoping for that kind of will power. I know if I see THOSE kind of results I will be more motivated...and from everything I have read and seen, the results are so possible. I need to get this going before I regain EVERYTHING I lost while doing Kimins back in '07. I have not gained it all back, so that is a good thing...I just need to fix what I messed up. ok...I am rambling...but I am excited!!!!! ![]() Thanks again for responding. Tiff |

![]() ![]() I struggled with the same timing issues but decided...WTH ![]() I do love turkey and pie, but I can live without it. I am going to make do with my chicken, melba, celery and baked apples. This will be feast enough for me. I know a lot of people are going to load on Thanksgiving...but I prefer Christmas so I'd rather be done. I am in week 2 now, and will likely do 30 days (I started the 31st) so that puts me right around Christmas Eve to be in P4 ![]() I thought it would be fun to play with my ingredents and see if I can roast my chicken, make melba toast stuffing with celery (or maybe I'll do asparagus) and I love, love, love the baked apples Anyhoo...best of luck, there are recipes around to help out with the food choices...it's definitely doable

I peel and slice an apple (I eat the peel as I slice
)add cinnamon, stevia, nutmeg, lemon juice, water and bake for around 30 minutes at 350* You can use melba toast for the crisp (one toast with cinnamon, nutmeg and stevia crushed up together) and sprinkle on top and bake you can add whatever spices you like they are heaven![]() oh...and some people microwave them but I don't...I think it loses flavor Last edited by beachagain; 11-09-2011 at 04:15 PM.. |

Thanks again for all the responses.
I got my drops today!!!!! ![]() So I will be starting tomorrow with the load days. I was so nervous that I would not get them in time to start tomorrow that I went and found some at CVS and Walgreens (IDK what they were or even if they worked the same...box said HCG then said 100% hormone free? ) Anyway, I got them in the nick of time...LOL. They might have been sitting on the proch for days because I looked in the mailbox everyday NOT on the porch.... But anyway....Here I go!!!! ![]() Now I am off to find a thread (or start a thread) for folks just now starting.... Tiff |

OMG - This was A-MA-zing!
Quote:
The house smelled terrific while the baking was going on, and the apples were like a party in a dish! I will DEFINITELY be making this recipe again! In case anyone is interested, for the four apples I used about 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, fresh ground nutmeg (less than 1/4 tsp...fresh ground nutmeg is really potent!), and about 1/4 tsp. of bulk stevia by NOW (which is TOTALLY more potent than the packets of stevia). Combined these together in a dish. Took the juice of one lemon, diluted it with water, tossed the apple slices in the lemon & water, then sprinkled the spice mixture over the apples, tossed again to distribute the spice, put the lid on and baked as directed. OH - and added crumbled two GG Scandinavian Crispbreads to the toss before baking. Next time I may add three GG Crisps. Added a nice texture and held up well in the baking. Thanks for the inspiration! This was a great boost for us! Now we'll get our report card on the scale in the morning...LOL! (I ate a total of three apples today...tomorrow will bring steely self-restraint!) |

Discontinuing the LCF Forums?!
Did anyone else read the announcement that the LCF forums - all of them - are being discontinued? November 21 is when they're taking everything down. They want us to switch to the blogs instead. What up????

Blogs are going down, recommended to start a journal in the journal section ..... Dear LCF members, Several years ago, we made Blogs (http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/blogs) available to all registered LCF members. In 2010, due to spam abuse, we had to restrict access to blogs until a member had reached 25 days and 25 posts. Due to continued spam abuse and minimal blog activity by members, we plan on discontinuing the Blogs feature on Monday, November 21, 2011. If you currently have a blog on LCF, please be aware that your blog will no longer be accessible effective November 21. If there is any information you want to keep, please copy or print it now. As an alternative to blogs, we recommend Weight Loss Journals (http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/weight-loss-journals). Thank you for your continued support of Low Carb Friends! |
