Do NOT beat yourself up over a few pounds. What I have noticed is that window that Dr Simeons' gives us in his manuscript Pounds and Inches is just too narrow. I have been in your situation and it is terrible. A life of correction day after correction day is no way to live. My best advice is try to relax (I know, better said than done--I have literally been there and done that!) and just eat P3 for a few days. Do NOT think about doing any CDs for a week. See if that naturally gets you back in the window. If not, you may just have to relax that window a bit and adjust it by a lb or 2. Much easier than beating yourself up. Relax and breathe, relax and breathe.....keep repeating that til you actually do it!! LOL.. Oh, I see you are in my neck of the woods. If you need a hug, just let me know. I can meet with you and calm you down Haha.

So, I was reading back in this thread, and the DAY AFTER I posted all that, I stabilized!
The same fourteen pounds up from LDW, just like always, but instead of going right back to P2, I stayed at 155 or so for the longest time! Between 154 and 156, if I remember correctly. For months! I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I was so happy! Then in September, for no apparent reason, I gained 3lb to 159, then I tried a Whole30 from 9/5 to 10/5, and gained three more. 162. So I hung in there at 162ish through the holidays and went back on P2 this month. It's been VERY slow going. I'm in 15 days or so, and only down 8lbs. I have lost much more, much faster, in the past. I might go back to see my guy next month, but I think I better hang in there with P2 for awhile, because if I stop now and gain my typical 14lb, I will be way worse off! So...what I mostly did this past time, and I think this is what helped me stay stable, is I was eating some 80% fat in a day, and no more than 20g carb. Very little fruit, if any. My veggies were mostly greens or salads. I didn't eat a whole lot of dairy for a good while. After I stabilized for a couple weeks or months, I would once in awhile have half a banana or something, and I was OK! It was amazing. But now I just want to get back to the low 140s (or less-- that would be heavenly) and STAY THERE. I'm nervous-- but one day at a time. I sure as heck am not going to be stOOpid and try to add everything back at once. Modified P2, and that's it. P2 + fat. Wish me luck! |

Maiasaura- It's great that you figured out what works for you right now. Keep up the good work.
Dawn, there certainly are days I need a hug, thanks for the offer but most of all thanks for the reasurance. I'm much calmer now. I'm still up and down but as long as I remain calm and keep eating clean I will allow my body to make the decisions. It's not always about what I want, easier said than done yes. But if my body doesn't agree with what I want, it will be a never ending battle. Monday will be the end of my P3 or end of my three weeks. I don't believe it's said anywhere that I have to go to the next phase and add in starches or sugar so i\I won't. I"m very happy with the way I'm eating right now so I will continue this for the next three weeks then go back to P2. NicoleT, I'm very glad you found what works for you. Especially that you were willing to share your information here. It has help give me some food for thought. Thank you Deana Last edited by deanajane; 01-20-2013 at 08:42 AM.. |

One of the things I learned from doing this again and again these past couple years is that no, I can very likely never have sugar or starch again. Which is fine with me-- I would rather trade stabilization and lots of fat any day! I love my version of Bulletproof Coffee-- which is how I start my day (but not in P2). I use coconut oil and butter and cream. Two cups of it. I still have lots of water, but nowhere near the amt in P2. I love using bacon fat and coconut oil and butter to cook all my foods in. I love not worrying about the amount of fat I eat. There is a local organic butcher here that I am going to get suet and try rendering my own lard in the crock pot. This new way of eating really excites me, actually. I never, EVER thought I would break the sugar/starch merry-go-round. Yes, there are plenty of days I would kill for an English muffin or a bagel with cream cheese, but I am able to think it through now, and not cave. I don't even care about pizza. Or ice cream. There were days when I thought I could never live without ice cream or Hershey's syrup. Now it's like poison. I'm an alcoholic in recovery-- and I know that, biologically, sugar for me follows the same pathways alcohol did, which is why we alkies use sugar in crazy amounts when we get sober. I never thought I'd get off that train. I've got 18 years of sobriety and I'm finally eating relatively sanely. It's amazing. |

Good, yay! I am still in P2 but only down by about 15lb this round (been on 32 days or so). I want about another 10lb off, with my record of gaining back 14 immediately, this whole last round will be moot if I do that! Trying to find my old journals and diaries to see what it was I did that allowed me to finally stabilize, last April! ![]() |
