Southern California HCG Meetup in formation.....need ideas please! - Page 2

I posted a couple of links upthread for Shoreline village, The Pike, Rainbow Harbor area, which would be a perfect place to meet. Click on them to see some ideas for what's available.

Would you like to "do something" ala go to the aquarium? Or ride the Aqua Link boat? Or do you just want to meet to walk/hangout/have coffee? I have ideas for all of the above, but I need your input first

Can everyone chime in with what they would like to do?

hmmmm, hard to pick, because I like to do all of those things. I think for me, I would not want to sacrifice talking and hanging out, so it there was an activity that could include that, I would like it.

The Aquarium would allow for that. The cost is $25 (10% reduction for AAA members) so I don't know if that's a barrier. If we're not up for that, there are a lot of restaurants and nice places to walk and hang out there too.

I'm all for the aquarium if you girls wanna go. It's one of the best and I haven't been there in years.

My dad and brother actually live in downtown Long Beach and they have a killer condo with a pool/spa on the roof. It's all walking distance, so we could even go there to hang out at some point if y'all want. My dad is rarely in town, so I doubt he'll be there...but maybe I can set one of you beautiful girls up with my big brother!!!

Stevie - I think the plan is the aquarium at noon on November 5th. More details to come about where etc.

I read your links--didn't even hear about this. I'm so sorry you and Sheri were impacted by this!

It's a long flight but it might be worthwhile--it's a gorgeous 100 degrees here and it's still light til around 7pm...

Yes, Saturday, Nov 5, noon, at the Long Beach Aquarium is the latest decision. Exact spot at the Aquarium hasn't been decided, although possibly it is self-evident (I have never been there). We haven't heard from everyone yet, so I am not sure if details will change. I hope you can make it!

Layla, where in Canada are you? Are you on the west or east? I drove the AlCan a couple of times and I also go to Toronto occasionally (I have a bunch of friends there). From the description of your life, it sounds like my life when I lived up in Alaska. Just wondering.

Here I am...I took this today to send to my DH. I just got my hair done.
It was a bit emotional sitting in a chair salon as you can imagine.

I'm still planning on coming. I think it will do me some good to be around some positivity in light of all the sadness that has been surrounding us out here. I'm looking forward to meeting you girls. Stevie, I hope you can come too!

Hey, guys! Sorry to be so absent--just not sure yet whether I can get there or not. It depends on whether Mr. Verb is coming home that weekend or not. (Long story short--he is working in Seattle right now, and we own a condo there, plus our home here. He gets here when he can and I go there when I can. But he's kinda sensitive about me planning all day outings on his "conjugal visit" weekend.

im sorry i did not see this until tonight, envious of your meet up!

i live in the northwest territories, about 60 miles from the arctic circle. if you watch the show *ice pilots nwt* they fly to my community. north of yellowknife (hourish flight) in a little town of 800 people. very cold in winter, hot in summer. we are not quite 24 hours dark/light but close, few hours *dusk* in the depths of winter and what seems like blinding light in the summer at all hours lol. there is a road in the winter but in the summer we are fly in/out only. i have driven the road but its a little scary. one lane, *snow* road...first time i was so sore from driving just from bouncing around. its not all bad here, i make it sound so lovely

but it is certainly a challenge. i only moved here 15 months ago.

i lurk because i am so jealous of you california dwellers, how beautiful that must be!!

that is very sweet of you to ask. We may be out of town, heading to the desert. If not, will call Sheri and hook up.

We are slowly coming to grips as best we can with this tragedy. It has bee very stressful for DH but I do believe prayer & talking it out has helped.
