Simple Homemade HCG Friendly Shampoo/Condtioner

I've been lurking, but thought I'd come out to say, I am into making some of my own soaps and personal care products, and just started with HCG, and thought maybe someone else might benefit from my recipes for shampoo and conditioner. They always leave my hair silky and soft, and manageable (i sound like a commercial! -ugh lol)

Shampoo: 1 cup Dr. Bronners liquid castile soap, 1 cup water, 1 tsp mineral oil. Shake before using. Can adjust the oil to your preference. Your hair might feel 'funny' after shampooing, but please please have faith until after you do the leave-in conditioner step, that step is essential after this special shampoo.

Leaver-In Conditioning Rinse: 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water, 1/4 tsp citric acid crystals (optional, but give 'curl definition'). Shake before using. DO NOT RINSE OUT - THIS IS IMPORTANT. Can add some essential oils for a nice smell - i recommend lavender and rosewood. Could try rosemary and peppermint. Comb carefully with your wet hair, until it is dry. Then, you will be amazed how soft and nice your hair is.

Also for a bit more 'curl definition', if you're into that kinda thing, put 1/2 tsp citric acid crystals into a 2-oz spray bottle filled with water and spritz after your hair is dry, then 'sprunch'.

Hope this might help someone! I think it's much nicer than all the artificial colors/preservatives/fragrances and what else goes into the commercial stuff.

By the way, I have just started HCG Activator, and an on Day 2/evening of VLCD (4 lbs down!).

i tried castile soap shampoo and a vinegar rinse for a few weeks when i was trying to *green* up our house. my hair was awful!!! i tried all sorts of recipes and love essential oils and was *soooo hoping* it would work. sounds like from your post that my mistake was rinsing out the vinegar????? i have to be honest, i did add some essential oils and my hair kept smelling like vinegar, i read it would stop once dry but i couldn't stand it lol.

i will likely try it with your suggestions, i do have some citric acid from when i make bath bombs...i like the idea of natural products. perhaps i just have bad hair thats beaten into submission from products lol...if that is my *natural* look its scary and just wont do!

if its helpful for added suggestions...its VERY thick and curly and not in that beautiful curl way i envy on other people...its frizzy and large!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup - don't rinse out the vinegar, and...

...and the vinegar WILL smell some, while your hair is wet, or if it gets wet, so this is a consideration/tradeoff for the natural 'route' (I forgot to mention that-duh). You can try some sharper smelling essential oils like peppermint (take it easy that one can burn if too much).

But I like the way my hair feels and behaves so much when I do that rinse, I keep on using it - between home and the office - I might use something else if I were going to be getting *wet* around other people though!

I too have wavy/curly hair that LOVES TO BE FRIZZY, and it's this rinse plus the citric acid spray that keeps it under *some* kind of control, as well as or better than the many, many products I have tried from stores/salons.

thank you for your feedback, it's always interesting to share with others who have used similar 'recipes'!!

i will try it. i will be getting my hair braided during holidays in december and the salon products leave so much residue that it looks like dandruff after a while. its just the yuck residue and is not a good thing obviously. castile and vinegar is the way to go for extensions/braids as your hair grips better as well.

ive got a ton of essentials at home and will play around and try it with the vinegar left in.

thank you for the suggestions.
