![]() ![]() ![]() When I saw my name, I thought I was in trouble, lol. Thank you!! ![]() You know what's funny? For SO many years, I hid from the camera. I hated the way I looked. Now I cheese for it whenever I can! Also, for many years, I wore my hair long, not because it was particularly flattering (my hair is fine and thin) but because fat girls DO NOT look good in short hair. Last month, while grooming my puppy, I turned the clippers on myself and buzzed my hair super short. It was quite possibly one of the BRAVEST things I have EVER done and I could ONLY do it because of all the weight I have lost. You can SO see it in my face now (the weight loss) and I don't have to hide behind limp, stringy hair any more! ![]()

Also, while I owe SO much to HCG, what I owe more to is THIS FORUM. I had never even heard of the HCG diet until stumbling across this forum from the Atkins '72 one. Back in March I was struggling to find my weight loss way and I thank God every day for the accidental, random click that led me here!
YOU ALL are the reason I am where I am today and I thank you all for your wisdom, experience, encouragement, and support! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I am totally totally in accord with the hair thing. Even though mine hasn't been long long for years (because it's just ridiculously fine, straight as a string...and kind of feathery, fly away stuff...like a toddler) I have worn it longer than I liked it during the last couple of years. I have always looked best in the style I have now...kind of a pixie cut...but I sure didn't look good in it fat! It is SO joyous to have cute hair again. It looks so much healthier and shinier too. I think I've actually had some of that pregnant lady hair thing going on...the lady who cuts my hair, the last time I went in, said "what the heck are you doing?" and held a mirror close to my hair where she had parted it in the back to show me tons...like...TONS...of little half inch long brand new baby hairs all over my head! That will no doubt cease when I quit dosing but it did occur to me that is yet another reason that researchers need to look harder at HCG. There are some real "fountain of youth" properties that need to be explored.
Anywho...Lilac...you just are ridiculously pretty and I'm so happy for you to get to enjoy that now!

![]() Grrrr.... not yet. I DID try it on and COULD get it almost 75% zipped. I had to stop before the other 25% because I couldn't hold my breath that long. ![]() Someday though!! ETA: Oh. EVERYONE was shocked by my radical haircut. I got open-mouthed stares and not-so-nice comments that bordered on offensive - everything from "you doing chemo?" to "are you batting for the other team now?" But you know what... I don't care!! It took guts and I am rockin' it! Last edited by LilacBruze; 09-05-2011 at 10:31 AM.. |

Thank you, everyone!
I really do feel like the caterpillar who became a butterfly! That picture of me from 2007 - that was after the first round of steroids that knocked my MS into remission. Steroids plus some major depression revolving around the whole diabetes/MS thing (I was diagnosed with both within 3 weeks of each other) put me at over 290 lbs then. I was miserable and SO unhealthy. Mini - feel free to smack away, lol. I find the majority of snide comments have come not so much from family and friends who have supported me through this journey, but friends and people who are envious of my success and look for ANY comment to bring me down. I don't let it bother me at all. I feel great and I look great, and really, if it's not comments about my hair, it's comments about saggy skin, or choice of outfit, or really anything to try and steal my sunshine. One person gave me some crappy under-handed compliment along the lines of, "well, all the weight you lost really brings out your wrinkles now", to which I replied, "the only reason you see them now is there's no fat to hide them." |

Oh, and I want to mention here because I am not sure if I have posted this before...
While you all know that this has improved my diabetes tremendously, my MS symptoms this year have been almost negligible, despite having quite a few new lesions in my brain and spine. New lesions usually means a flare-up of symptoms, and subsequently a relapse. But I have felt GREAT this year - a year that I was actually anticipating a relapse since previously the relapses were occurring every 2 years - 2007, 2009... but so far (knock wood) 2011 has been problem-free. I really am wondering if HCG has some medical benefit in this area! |

Lilac, I know everyone as told you this before, but you truly are an inspiration! I will sometimes be thinking about how "hard" HCG is, and eating such a limited menu, then I think about you and how long you did it and how much you lost, and you give me strength.
you are a beautiful lady and I want to just say Thank you, for contributing to this forum and letting us all meet you!! |

Barbie!! I did not see this until just now!! How have you been? WHERE have you been, young lady??
![]() Thanks so much for your kind words. I am just someone on a mission. This was my year to get my health back and take control of my life. No more, no less. I am not Superwoman, and believe me, I have had the same struggles as everyone else, the same temptations, the same issues to overcome. It took my mom almost dying to make me realize that my addiction to food was not worth leaving my kid an orphan and my husband a widow. Sometimes it really does take something drastic to finally give you the strength to do something you never thought you could do. I have said it before, if you would have told me a year ago that I could lose almost 80 lbs in 5 months, I would have thought the ONLY way that would be possible (short of putting me into a coma and feeding me through a tube) was to have gastric bypass. I believe in this diet. I am proof that it really can change your life! I can't WAIT for my next round. I am chomping at the bit but after 90 days of P2 I am doing the full P3 and P4 to let me body rest and re-set. So far, so good! Thanks again! You can always PM me if you need support or the tough love I am fond of dishing out! ![]() |

I have decided to update my stats and my ticker to reflect my highest weight instead of the weight that I started dieting at back in March. Actually, I don't even think 290 is accurate, I think it was closer to 297 but I can't find the paperwork from the doctor visit at that time so I can't validate it with proof.
Good grief. I look at myself and absolutely cannot believe I was 300 lbs and in a size 28. NEVER AGAIN. |

Hi Lilac! Nice to meet you on here! What an absolute inspiration. I know what you mean about this forum. Whenever I need info, inspiration, guidance, support, a dose of reality, I find it on here. I tried to explain to a colleague of mine but she just didn't get it. It's all good though because this isn't about her. It is about me
