Good Morning! R2VLCD19 here and I'm up .2, but still in the 190's. My weight doesn't fluctuate as wildly as it did it in P3, but it still fluctuates slightly.

Have a great day everyone!

So far I'm down 11lbs since starting P2 on 8/31. This week has been slow but steady but in a stall as of this morning. I am still proud but kinda feel like i'm missing the beginnings somewhere. Such as...

what veggies can I have and NOT have again ?
what size melba toast ?
I'm really seasoning things up a bit, is it too much ?
Should I replace meat with eggs this early on?
what cam I take for constipation ?

Am I thinking too much ?

A VIQ ( very important question) ... I have been stating " i've lost a certain amount in a certain amount of days. But should I only count the days that P2 started? I am trying to sort my daily average. I think all the information overload the past 11 days is starting to pull me away from the very basics.

Reason why I have so many questions is because between 1954 and now, there was no coke zero, health food stores offering so many items i've never heard of, no soy milk, none of the mix of seasonings you find in 1 jar now, so many items that you can get now that are low fat, low sugar etc.. that Dr. Simeon never knew about as they didnt exist. So.. how do you find variety without jeopardizing the consumption that he intended you have ? Yes, the easiest answer would be, just stay very basic as he created. However, what if it is ok to use alot of these new millineum products ? Back in 54 we didn't have computers at home to learn so much. There was no google etc. So what is the best way to proceed ? Do we need to investigate the make-up of each item to compare it to what he allowed ? Yes this is deep but I'm one of those persons that wants to know it all and get the best out of it.

I think I'm thinking too hard
Great job on the losses!!!

For your R1P2D .. day should be the number of VLCD's you are on.

what veggies can I have and NOT have again ? you should review the protocol, you can get in online for free or I'm sure if you search a thread here.. I know a lot of here reread the protocol every now and then.. even though this is R4 for me I will still catch new things or things I forgot.

what size melba toast ? the traditional rectangle one.. should be 20 cal each

I'm really seasoning things up a bit, is it too much ? No, as long as the seasonings do not have hidden sugar.. and if there is anything on the label questionable do not eat it.. basically stick to all natural seasons and season blends.

Should I replace meat with eggs this early on? you can if you want

what cam I take for constipation ? not sure about this one, I don't have a problem w/it... are you drinking a TON of water?!?!

Am I thinking too much ? nah.. I know for me I want to be sure I'm doing everything right... I don't want to have to do this again.. it works but for me is not fun.. so I want to do it right the first time!!!

Hope this helps...

I ate "just one" -- and that led to me eating almost the whole container . . .I woke up from a Corn Nut trance like one of those winos lying in the alley wondering why she is wearing her underwear on her head.

The good news: it's clean -- nothing but corn, oil, and salt.
The bad news: Corn's not protocol, oil is for SURE not protocol, my estimate is 600 calories of damage.

I did penance by drinking an extra 50 ounces of water last night and skipping dinner, and today I'm still down a pound! If the dreaded two-day effect doesn't appear, I may have dodged the bullet!

Note to self: NEVER buy those again!
MANY years ago, I decided that will power was simply not enough for me to not get in trouble with food. Certain foods "talked" to me, saying "Eat me, eat me, eat me." The only way I could stay out of trouble with those particular foods was to never bring them in the house. I still gained weight after menopause, but I stopped binging by removing those foods that talked to me. It was not even like an alcoholic trying to stop with one drink. If the stuff was around me at all, the way I got rid of it was to eat it so it would stop talking to me. It wasn't until many years later that I discovered I was bulimic, only I didn't purge. It was both emotional and physiological and total avoidance has been the only thing that works for me.

Since being on this program, the only triggers I have had were when my husband steamed potatoes or popped corn. I just steeled myself to let it pass, and so far, so good. None of that went into my mouth. We tend to eat separately these days (we both like different foods and often prepare our foods differently, such as he likes his roast well done and i like mine medium rare) and that helps.

Have you considered taking food with you instead of having to eat foods that don't get you where you want to go? Just a thought. I always carry my food with me whenever I have to leave the house and am gone across a mealtime.

A lot of those new millennium products (as you call them) are what make people sick. If you read Kevin Trudeau's book, you'll find out about the major profits being made from feeding people foods that first make them sick (and FAT!), then selling them weight loss programs that don't work, drugs and medical care after that, and creating huge demands based in people's suffering.

Each of us have to make our own decisions and learn our own lessons. Our bodies are different, our age is different (age does matter), and our stage of readiness to make long-term changes is different.

From P&I:
Quote:
Breakfast: Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only
one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours.
Saccharin or Stevia may be used.

Lunch: 1. 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast,
fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp.
All visible fat must be carefully removed
before cooking, and the meat must be
weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled
without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna,
herring, dried or pickled fish are not
allowed. The chicken breast must be
removed from the bird.

2. One type of vegetable only to be chosen
from the following: spinach, chard,
chicory, beet-greens, green salad,
tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red
radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.

3. One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba
toast.

4. An apple or a handful of strawberries or
one-half grapefruit or orange.
Dinner : The same four choices as lunch.

The juice of one lemon daily is allowed for all purposes. Salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil,
parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc., may be used for seasoning, but no oil, butter or dressing.

Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at
all times.

In fact, the patient should drink about 2 liters of these fluids per day. Many patients are afraid to drink so much
because they fear that this may make them retain more water. This is a wrong notion as the body is more inclined to
store water when the intake falls below its normal requirements.

The fruit or the breadstick may be eaten between meals instead of with lunch or dinner, but not more than four items
listed for lunch and dinner may be eaten at one meal.

No medicines or cosmetics other than lipstick, eyebrow pencil and powder may he used without special permission
I was disabled for 9 years because of toxins that had accumulated in my system and now only eat organic foods. When I started this program, I found I had to eliminate all salt, so now use potassium chloride instead. I do not trust "low fat, low sugar" claims and if you read their labels, they are made with all sorts of chemicals that mess up your body, but make large profits for the companies that make them. READ LABELS!

I have kept to plain and simple and really like the simplicity of it. It takes all of the work out of the program for me. P3 is much more challenging and involves a LOT more cooking. I only eat twice a day and by adjusting my dose, I do not experience extreme hunger. What little hunger I have is managed by drinking water and it goes away. I REALLY LOVE EATING THESE FOODS! They taste absolutely delicious to me without additives of any kind.

On P3, I get more creative with spices and cooking methods, but on P2, I make it easy on myself and it makes it easy to stick with the program. I do not feel deprived in any way, and as you can see in my response to Porkfat above, I used to have an eating disorder, so I do know what that's like.

Like I said, we are all different and at different stages of readiness to make long-term changes. I personally don't think the availability of chemicalized foods and food additives is a plus and many fewer people got sick OR fat in Simeons' day. Trudeau's book goes into that in detail. These chemicals mess up our bodies and work against our being healthy or slim. Some people handle them better than others, but they are still not good for anyone, in my opinion. You will have to find out what works for you and it's the long term picture that keeps me on track. "Cheating" is not in the cards for me, because the only person I "cheat" is me, and I just don't want to stay fat any longer. End of venting.

Checking in with a 0.8 loss this morning, which averages out to my usual 0.4 per day when coupled with my "no change" day yesterday. My blood sugars are way down (YAAAAY!) and this morning my fasting level was 111. That is 55 points lower than it was in March, before HCG. Getting my diabetes under control without medication was just as important to me as losing weight, and I am succeeding at both!

Have a great day, everyone!

One of the reasons I chose this protocol is I wanted to detox and start with a clean slate. Resetting my metabolism is a key factor in P3. My background is one in which I practice a Paleo/Primal WOE. I am used to low carb high fat diets (15+years). The protocol calls for one to eat real foods, preferably organic. Cleanse, detox, lose fat. These fake sugars and chemicals in processed foods is something that does not appeal to me. Low fat also is something that I think needs to be debunked as saturated fat is healthy fats (actually it is being debunked). Processed foods are addictive on purpose and if I don't know what something is on a label or would not naturally eat what is on a label I don't want it in my body. You are what you eat so getting real sources of fats, proteins, and carbs is real important to health.

I know foods can be addictive, more so than alcohol and drugs some believe. I certainly do not want to play into the hands of Big Farma and Big Pharma. My family's healthcare cost for the last 15 years has been $0. I plan to keep it that way.

Good luck and best wishes on your journey. I know we have different needs and opinions and hope you are successful.

Have a great day everyone!!!
I hear ya! I was down .8 yesterday and only .4 today. I really could not eat yesterday and only had raw ground buffalo for dinner. I felt like I had to force myself to eat that. Not sure what is going on but not only am I never hungry it is hard to eat what I force myself to. I really don't know what has changed as I was loving the taste of everything the first week and really enjoyed the veggie and meat portions (I don't do fruit or melba). I have been more active and drinking a lot more water but I figured that would make me lose (I was not trying to lose more; it is just we have great weather and I have been taking sons and dogs to the park).

I am still thrilled with my progress and know I can't lose >=1 lb everyday. I have been checking ketones and am constantly testing on the far end of the spectrum (and yes I have been drinking lots of water). I do not feel poor, still have lots of energy, and enjoy the protocol...just wish eating was not such a chore.

I have hardly had time to post this week,...I am R1P2VLCD29 (I think) and I am down a total of 20.6 lbs! Woo hoo!

Now that I have passed the 20lb mark, I "feel" like I have lost alot. The week I was awaiting TOM was brutal, with the scale hovering over the same pound! But, that is behind me and I am back to losing..,.YAY!

A classmate, who hasn't seen me since June, asked me if I was losing weight and that I was positively glowing!

I am UP 0.6 lbs this morning. The only thing I can think of is that I may have accidentally missed a dose of my drops. If that's what caused this, that's impressive in terms of showing the effectiveness of the drops and the importance of staying on schedule! Well, nothing to do but stay on program and see what tomorrow brings. Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning! Down 1.2 and feeling great! I haven't seen the 180's for years and here I am! Yesterday, I was FREEZING and I know that happens on protocol and I understand why. My husband always knows when I'm going to have a big loss because I'm REALLY cold like I was yesterday. A co-worker of mine that I told about hcg said she can really tell I'm losing weight. When I told her how much I weighed, she couldn't believe it. I also said I'm 5'10" so fortunately, I carry my weight well. My goal for this round of 165 isn't far away at all and my ultimate goal of 140 isn't far either. I hcg for giving me ME back!

Have a wonderful day everyone and congratulations to all of us for traveling down this miraculous journey.

After day 1

Congratulations on the losses! I had never heard about being cold before-- what is the connection.

Dropped 6.1 the first day on VLCD. I know the first day usually has a nice drop and being male helps, but it is always nice to see such a big number!

Morning, everybody! Down .5 this morning, which makes 8 pounds in 7 days. Not as fast as R1, but I'll take it!

1moretry: I find that not every bump on the scale is about something one did -- it can be about the weather (heat or humidity making you retain water), Bernice, your body adjusting to some of the fat loss, whatever. Don't stress about the .6!

Way to go on the loss.

A lot of people say the cold is the HCG working. I experienced it my first round but not until I lost about 10 pounds or so. Then I was cold a lot. This round, not so much. YMMV

Thanks! In my first round of forty-nine days, I had several small gains, but they were small and not in a row. I'm FREEZING again today and that usually means I'm getting ready for another drop.

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. I am down 2lbs for a total of 13lbs since 8/31. This evening had a nice grilled seasoned ckn breast and asparagus with an apple about an hour later. I was hungry most of the day today. Will try to adjust my drops a bit tomorrow and see if that helps. I found Stevia finally. great organic store and nutrition stores in the Dubai Mall. Yes lord!

Thanks ladies ! I appreciate your replies tremendously. I have read and listened via ITunes the protocol and compared that to reading that some ( which I don't want to compare my own body or practices to theirs) so I did wonder if it was ok to eat some things that I've seen. The items I referenced in relation to " new millenium" LOL were things such as splenda. DH and I found a great organic store in the Dubai Mall last night. We bought some items. I found Stevia in all forms and a few other items.

Checking in with a 0.8 loss this morning, less than I had hoped for, but I'll take it! I suspected I might hit a prior set point around 132, so am waiting to get past that, but am running out of time on this round. It will be what it will be.

I had a small victory yesterday: I pulled out my cold weather clothes and have to give away almost all of them. My turtlenecks were either size XL or a man's L (same thing, sizewise) and when I went online to order replacements, my measurements were for a PETITE size M! I am only 5 feet tall, but I can't remember when I could fit into either a medium OR a petite size in anything -- it's been that long! It felt like getting something of myself back and it felt good!

It also felt good to be able to buy women's clothes again. It's been years since I could find any that fit me. The Plus sizes didn't work for me, so I had to wear men's because I didn't have any curves left -- just a big bulge from shoulders to hips.

I still will need to replace 6 pairs of pants and all of my bras, but want to wait until I have gone through at least 3 weeks on P3 before I do that, so I can see where I land after the first bit of reshaping happens. It's gonna be expensive, but I've been planning and saving for it, as I knew I was not going to be able to wear most of the clothes I still had (I already had to buy a pair of shorts and 2 skorts for the summer and knew that my winter clothes were just going to be too big).

Have a great day, everyone! Congrats on the losses and hang in there for the rest.

Interesting that I just learned about the connection with feeling cold yesterday as I was FREEZING all afternoon and evening yesterday. I was uncomfortable during dinner but I had a 3.4 pound release so I will take the cold! Taking the time today to do food prep for the week so I don't have to think about it.

Have a great day everyone!

Nice loss! Good idea to try adjusting the drops.

Nice Non Scale Victory!! How fun is that??

I need to try on some clothes myself. My 18's are too baggy, but because I'm, well, hippy the 16's didn't quite fit last time I tried them on. It's been a few pounds since then and I'm looking sloppy in the 18's so gotta give it another go.

Last dosing day was yesterday. Lost nothing this am, but not surprised as I resorted to taking Sudafed for my sinuses yesterday. Still, lost 22 lbs this round and am looking forward to P3!! Don't know if I'll get another round in this year, but January for sure!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Morning, all! Down another 1.5 this morning -- dying to get into the 170s, which would be my lowest weight in 2 years. Beyond 177 takes me into fat that I laid down when pregnant with my 2nd son, who is now 16!!

Clothing size changes are the best, aren't they? I was looking at some cute clothes for winter, but since I'm early in P2 I'm hoping to be a much smaller size by the time I'm into the really cold weather. I don't want to replace things until I'm closer to a settled size for now, so I'm going to hold out for a bit.

Happy losing, everyone!

Hi Everyone! R2P2D21 here and I'm down another 1.4. Did I say how much I hcg? So close to that twenty-pound mark on this round. This has completely changed my life and how I feel about myself. I feel the same I did in R1: no hunger, no cravings and more energy. For comparison, I checked my spreadsheet from R1 and it took me exactly thirty days to lose twenty pounds and here I am at day #21 and already down 19.2. I didn't think I'd lose as quickly. My next P3 will be a lot more successful. I was so frustrated at not stabilizing, but this time I'm going to focus on a lot more P2 foods with increased portions. Dairy seems to be my downfall, I love it too much.

Have a great day everyone and congratulations to all of us!

It's hard to not be jealous of how much easier men lose weight than women do, but I am glad for you and your success. It's also nice to have a man on board. KUTGW!

Good job! I only lost 20 lbs the first round and it's not going to be that much this time around, so take your winnings and enjoy P3. Happy clothes shopping!

Great loss! Yes, clothing sizes make all of this more real. The scale says what it says, but it's the clothes where I can see what I am accomplishing. For the first time in years, I am looking forward to looking nice. It just wasn't possible before and I was just trying to cover up my fat.

Good for you!

Checking in with a 0.8 loss today, which gets me past my mini goal of 132 and the set point I was dreading. I have 9 days left before P3, and am now in totally virgin territory -- below what I weighed in 1994. That's 17 years ago! Talk about turning back the clock! Have a great day everyone!

Go 1moretry!! Whoo hoooo!!!!

I am down .2 on my last VLD with no drops. I'll take it!!! Yesterday for the first time I had people commenting on my weight loss. Yay! Now I wish I could squeeze in another round but I have lots of upcoming birthdays, and the holidays and MY birthday....so I dunno. I'll do my P3 and P4 and then see if a slot appears doable.
