Do any of you crave what you cook for your families?
I made blueberry pancakes & popcorn (not at the same time
) today, and I was really having a hard time resisting...especially the popcorn.Do you ever have a hard time when preparing food for others? |

In the beginning I do. But I make sure that my food is already prepared in the refrigerator so I'm not tempted to eat what I make for them.
When I loaded over the weekend, I had popcorn. Now it's out of my system, for now. ![]() |

I would...but my family has been very accommodating to me during this diet. My youngest kid is 17 and my oldest (23) is still living at home and is a chef/caterer. They fend for themselves, or my son makes magic for them. It's better than me anyway

Nope. I am not even tempted to taste what I prepare for them. The last time I made Thai sticky rice for my husband, I had to chase my daughter around the house with a spoonful to test its consistency. I would not put it in my mouth. I want to be thin much more than I want to eat food that's bad for me!

The only thing that calls my name is usually the sides (mashed potatoes, candied yams) my husband eats. Usually, I'll have just the protein and a low cal side, but he'll have a regular non-diet side and it pulls me. I'm used to this - been doing it for YEARS, so I don't crave the things I make for him.

The smells bother me sometimes, but as an experiment, I decided to embrace the smells. So now, when I think I really want something, I put it in a dish, put it right up under my nose, and sniff long and deep, 2 or 3 times. And I enjoy the smell of it. Usually, that alone is enough for me and if it's not, I just walk away. This is too important for me.
I'm fortunate in that my family has been very, very supportive also. |

Yes! I love to cook and experiment, so it's hard for me to cook without checking for seasoning levels. I end up making tried and true favorites that I don't have to check, and also :blush::blush: serve up more prepackaged stuff during P2. During P3, I usually just add a side to whatever I'm making... garlic mashed potatoes call my name every time!!
The hubby is not super stoked on hcg (it makes him nervous), but as he's never had a weight issue, he (mostly) keeps it to himself. |
