I'm not sure where people are on this forum. Hope if any of you are in the VA/DC area that you're well and that things are not falling off your walls!

We're about an hour away from Charlottesville (the epicenter) and felt pretty strong tremors. Very scary but grateful that everything's okay.

Yep, definitely felt it here in Raleigh! My chair was shaking and the dogs went nuts!

I'm in LA but was on the phone with our Hampton Roads office when it happened. Pretty funny--I'm in LA and THEY are the ones having the 'quake!

I'm in Maryland,,,a little shaking but no damage. We are about an hour east of Baltimore and they had some damage in the city.

Here in California, we eat 5.8 quakes for breakfast....lol!

Seriously, though, I hope everyone is okay -- I know how scary quakes can be, particularly if you've never felt one before... and this was certainly unusual for the geographic area. Please, everyone, be safe!!

NYC here. We shook on the 26th floor of my building. Had to walk down all flights when our building closed.

We're literally around the corner from Ground Zero in Manhattan, so they don't take ANY warnings lightly

I was particularly thinking about what a nightmare evacuation would be in the DC area. That traffic is really a mess under the best circumstances

Yeah, I'd pretty much lose it in a hurricane or a tornado I think... even a small one

As for being around the corner from ground zero -- I can't even imagine.... no wonder you take warnings so seriously!

LoL, I hear you CA girls. I lived in LA during the Northridge quake. The after shocks were 5's!

So true! We moved here in 1999 from Southern California (where I've lived all my life). My hubby is from Orange County. I was two years old when the Sylmar, CA quake hit in 1971 and that was a 6.6. If my dad hadn't pulled me out of my crib, I may have slept through it.

Tornadoes R Us...I live in Kansas. But we have basements and we know how to use them. If the New Madrid Fault ever does what they keep saying it is going to do one of these days, I will be skeered

Northern Virginia checking in here. It was horrible. I was at my studio and the whole building was shaking. A ceiling tile, a bulletin board and a clock fell down and a number.

Bay Area just got a little jolt of our own just now... very small, but shallow. Made me jump, and freaked out the birds.

I was here in 1989....now THAT was an earthquake...and an experience I'd rather not repeat.

it's been a big week, that way. Colorado friends had the biggest in quite some time late Monday night. Weird!
