I have a Vitamix blender but veggies just turn into mush in that because you have to have water to cover the blades.

Any ideas on a decently-priced, easy to use, easy to clean food processor?
I love, love, love my Ninja! Wally's had it if you shop there. The main reason I haven't grated cauliflower or any other veggie is for the reasons you mention. Too dangerous!
I bought an older Vita-Mix off an auction site that I've never used...

Dinner will be: Grilled 7oz filet mignon, 1 cup sliced strawberries

Where are you getting your fat? You don't want to your body to get used to a low fat regimen during this hypothalamus resetting phase (P3).

Dammit, Jim!

Work gets in the way of so much *sigh*...I only have a few years left before I could semi-retire and am totally looking forward to that!

I may start another round next month, too. Have you decided on your load day dates? yet?

I'd love to know how to get them crispy ifyou would share your secret!

Paula and Miamiloca - What kind of iron supps are you guys on? I have had great luck with iron biglycinate in helping my anemia. To get un-anemic (if that's a word!), I take 168-224mg daily (6-8 28mg caps with 500mg vitamin C each time). For maintenance, I take 2-4 caps. It helped get my ferritin, serum and % saturation into the good range. Just a suggestion.

After grating a whole lot of knuckle into my cauli-rice attempts, I used my food processor as C'Marie suggests. It works great and no shredded knuckle! I can't remember my brand but it's a smallish one that I use for just about everything. A snap to clean too. I will look at the brand when I get home...

As far as P4 goes, still maintaining away over here. Earlier this week I was UP almost 3 pounds from a sweet potato chip experiment. 1oz apparently = 2.9 pounds! Not out of my window, thank goodness, but I probably wouldn't have experimented unless I had been 3 pounds under anyway! Anyway, still working THAT off and hopefully I'll see the low 150's again tomorrow or Saturday.
Shelby, you are a wealth of information on supplements!
What do you think it was about the sweet potato chips that did it? Crazy!

Had a few bites of some homemade guacamole, a few strawberries, and some broccoli for snack about 10am. It's now 5pm and I've eaten nothing since. I am so NOT hungry that even the thought of eating is making me . Roasting some chicken thighs and cooking up a big batch of chili (to freeze for hubby who's still on P2) so I'll try to eat one of those in a bit. I wasn't expecting to feel like this but now that I think of it the first few days of R1P3 were like this too. Oh what a problem to have, huh?!
Neeko! Fat is our friend!
Not being hungry is so typical for a lot of us coming off P2. It's nuts! We think and dream (mental/emotional hunger) of fat, fat, fat and then we sort of have to wait a bit for our bodies to catch up (physical hunger). I think it's a sign that we did everything right up to this point.

I've calculated about 55g of fat for what I have listed for today's menu. Is that low fat?

LB,

if you go to ****** and put in what you've eaten for the day it will calculate the percentages out for you for fat, protein, carbs. Congrats on P3. I can't wait to get back to P3. I miss my fat!

LB, I think that might be a tad too light on the fat. Add some butter or some mayo or some coconut oil somewhere, or try a fattier cut of meat after a few days Of course, up to you.

I have an update on my hip. Suddenly today I can bend with my left leg waaaay more than I could, like to a deep squat position and take my left hand and reach the left side of my left foot. That is lots more flexibility than I used to have. I was sore as heck yesterday, but something is looser. I didn't go in today, but I will hit it again tomorrow. I called the assistant and talked to him and told hm to leave a note for the main guy to remember what the heck he did yesterday, because there seems to be progress. I am NOT going back on P2 until I see this through to as far as I can take it! I need the protein and to have all my strength. If I gain a couple pounds, then so be it. I'm going to keep it as clean as I can so I know I am doing my best.

LOL no! It wasn't meant to be, honest! I just meant that I also have to balance sky-high cholesterol with my diet, and still sort of ramping up despite the fact that I really don't have an appetite! Plus, I really don't have the time to do the whole Fit Day thing. I barely have the time to record this stuff in a journal!!

C'Marie... c'mon... MORE FAT? I feel so these last few days!! I forgot to add fat from the butter I plan to put on my filet, and yes the coconut oil too that I use in the pan when I sear it. So add um... well... I don't know... but at least 5g more!

ETA: Oops! This is why reading the labels is important! I TB of coconut oil and 1 TB of butter will add 20g of fat to my 55g!! Is THAT enough? <-- not tongue-in-cheek, serious question!

Does this mean it's feeling better? Or just more mobile? I hope it's better and maybe this is a breakthrough!!

Yes, more mobile, not yet feeling "better" cuz that's a relative term. And frankly, I'd pick mobile over better feeling any time. Maybe both will come. I covet your prayers! I'm not afraid to do the work, but I have a feeling THIS particular need is more of the miracle type.

As far as the fat goes, if you had some butter on your filet and other coconut oil with cooking, I think you're good. This isn't loading, after all. Remember what Dr. S. said - as long as there is no sugar and no starch, somewhat more fat can be taken in. (that's why when I add some carbs in P4, I take out some fat to balance)

KEEP ROCKIN' it, GIRL! You're gonna be the poster child for all of us!

I have at least 100 grams a day. 138 today. I don't have any cholesterol issues to worry about though... 200 grams of protein, I've never done that much. I think my max was 175 one day but usually I'm pretty satisfied with 70-100.

I guess we're all different at what satisfies us.

I have the Ninja too and love it. My son loves to make all kinds of smoothies in that. I have 3 I went a little crazy with the qvc offers. The VitaMix is the BEST EVER for making Biz's spinach smoothie. Another qvc purchase. I used to make it in the Ninja but it would not hold it all and the spinach would not pulverize. The VitaMix----OMG I am in with it. You have to try it!!! The smoothest spinach smoothie ever. And the container holds it all. Love that thing!! Very pricy, but very worth it.

I have to wean myself off all that protein eventually, I know. I just crave it so much after such an extended P2. I am sure it is contributing to my feeling blech. I figure I am listening to my body, and right now it wants MEAT, lol!!

I was up .8 this morning to 138.4 so I'm .6 above my window. I had some wine on the casino cruise and I ate dinner really late (after midnight) so I kind of expected to be up this morning. Hopefully I will go back down tomorrow.

Happy anniversary C'Marie and Miamiloca!

Miamiloca, I love the Weston area. Specifically, Sawgrass Mills Mall. We have Discover Mills Mall in Atlanta that is affiliated but I love Sawgrass Mills much more.

KelliC, I'm having fun on my vacation in Cocoa Beach. It's a nice get away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. I'm a little sad that the week is coming to an end. We leave Saturday morning to start the long drive back to Atlanta. We have another vacation scheduled in about two weeks though. It's our annual family reunion cruise so I'm looking forward to that before the summer unofficially ends on Labor Day.

I'm not saying I won't increase it!! I think my posting on the fly is getting me in trouble here!

Just that it's my 6th day of P3 and I really am trying to ramp up. Especially without much of an appetite. I just have this feeling of shocking my system, especially after the lecture I got from my doc just a month ago about my cholesterol. NOT that all this beef is helping that, lol.

In all seriousness, I eat between 120 and 170g of fat per day. Seriously. 55-70% of my diet. I usually have almost exactly the same number of grams of protein as I do of fat. Weird.

ETA: that's one thing that I love the coconut milk for--put it in my protein shakes.

Shelby--i use 2 caps of Feosol each day...seems to have helped me tremendously! Im new to this anemic thing so im still learning. I was just dx'ed this year when i was getting out of breath for just climbing the stairs. I tried the Biotin on your suggestion a month ago and i already see improvement in my hair so i will def. check this out too!

And--looks like riced cauli was such a hit here, im gonna have to break down and buy a processor, too! That grating thing --i was over it in 30 seconds and i have to be so careful w my hands that i dont have any open cuts due to the nature of my job touching people all the time! (im a nail tech) so i guess ill pick one up tommorrow!

Oh my gosh--i can walk to Sawgrass Mall! I try to stay away but im always there for something! As long as i stay away from the Colonade shops im good! I get in trouble when i venture over there!
