P3 Questions

OK, some specific questions and thoughts I have. Obviously everyone's mileage may vary but what has been your particular experience with these things?

* Do you have a particular strategy about how you do the first day and then proceed on through the rest of the week?

* So is it OK to jump right in with plenty of full fat (as in oil, butter, full fat dressing or mayonnaise) with each meal even on the first day?

* And also, do you go ahead and jump right into your BMR calorie amount on the first day?

* I see some references in the sticky thread to "lean meats" when starting out on P3. What the heck is up with that? For instance: I've been using the 96/4 ground beef on P2 and it's pretty darn flavorless. Isn't it OK to have the higher fat ground beef right or chicken with the skin right off the bat?

* Is it OK to go ahead and add several kinds of different lowcarb veggies on the first day or better to add one new vegetable at a time?

* How do you like to handle your fruits in the beginning of P3? (Obviously I know....no high sugar fruits)

* Still debating on whether to have some cheese on the first day. My first thought was to hold off on it but it sure would be nice to throw some on an omelette for breakfast!

* I don't think I can go without at least a little cream in the beginning because I add that to my eggs but I'm going to try to ease into the amount because I can really go crazy with cream in my tea and HWC on my strawberries!

* Things I'm going to add in later, maybe even wait until P4 for: Peanut butter, nuts, greek yogurt, nut flours (such as almond), low carb desserts. As much as I hate to, I should probably wait until P4 for the *whipped* cream as well.

1st day I had eggs and bacon, then just added more of P2 meat & veggies. Added calories each day, took about 3 days to get to max calories

* So is it OK to jump right in with plenty of full fat (as in oil, butter, full fat dressing or mayonnaise) with each meal even on the first day?
I used butter right away and SF dressing, check labels !

* And also, do you go ahead and jump right into your BMR calorie amount on the first day?
I couldn't even if I had planned to as I was full, but some people do

* I see some references in the sticky thread to "lean meats" when starting out

I had bacon and a nice steak 1st day, then pork the next day, no lean meat for me

* Is it OK to go ahead and add several kinds of different lowcarb veggies on the first day or better to add one new vegetable at a time?
Add every lc veggie to a salad and you'll love it ! I ate plenty of them and mixed them together. I don't think you need to individually introduce them.

* How do you like to handle your fruits in the beginning of P3? (Obviously I know....no high sugar fruits) I actually only ate the berries and apple occasionally( not a fruit fan)

* Still debating on whether to have some cheese on the first day. My first thought was to hold off on it but it sure would be nice to throw some on an omelette for breakfast!
I had no trouble with cheese, put it on everything, you'll need to see how you react to it.

* I don't think I can go without at least a little cream in the beginning because I add that to my eggs but I'm going to try to ease into the amount because I can really go crazy with cream in my tea and HWC on my strawberries!
I drink black coffee, so I waited a bit to put HWC on berries as it is addicting

* Things I'm going to add in later, maybe even wait until P4 for: Peanut butter, nuts, greek yogurt, nut flours (such as almond), low carb desserts. As much as I hate to, I should probably wait until P4 for the *whipped* cream as well
I don't think PB is protocol, but I was craving it, so I found grind your own almond butter , a"s the jar ones had sugar. I also lasered almonds and that was the only nut I tried. I never tried any of the flours or yogurts, but I definitely loved the HWC.

I know I have not done P3 yet, but due to my crazy fluctuations and majorly extended round, I am planning on easing into it gently. The first week I will be a protein devouring fool but I do not plan on jumping into dairy or super fatty stuff just yet. Trust me, I want nothing more than to dive blissfully into a vat of cheese and bacon. But I worry so much about stabilizing, and I have worked so hard to get where I am, that I will wade in gently instead of jumping into the deep end. I am so jealous of others who can just jump right in!

* Do you have a particular strategy about how you do the first day and then proceed on through the rest of the week?
- Add eggs and bacon or sausage for breakfast.
- Double proteins at lunch and dinner and use fatty versions of chicken, beef and seafood to start. Add other meats later in the week.
- Take it easy on cheese and nuts first week. Add things like HWC and yogurt one at a time in case you have a sensitivity. NO peanuts or cashews in P3--they are legumes and need to be saved for P4.

* So is it OK to jump right in with plenty of full fat (as in oil, butter, full fat dressing or mayonnaise) with each meal even on the first day?
- You betcha! Olive oil, butter, coconut oil, avocados--yumyum. I didn;t have any issues starting with full-fat everything but some people do.

* And also, do you go ahead and jump right into your BMR calorie amount on the first day?
- I did and didn't have any issues. Some people are too full and have to work up to it.

- Lean meats - no clue. Some of the first things I made were chicken thighs and tri-tip both rounds.

* Is it OK to go ahead and add several kinds of different lowcarb veggies on the first day or better to add one new vegetable at a time?
- You betcha!!!! Mix it up!

* How do you like to handle your fruits in the beginning of P3? (Obviously I know....no high sugar fruits)
- Same fruits as P2 except no oranges. Add all types of berries.

* Still debating on whether to have some cheese on the first day. My first thought was to hold off on it but it sure would be nice to throw some on an omelette for breakfast!
- I'd take it easy on the cheese, but that's just me. Maybe have fried, scrambled or poached with hollandaise instead?

* I don't think I can go without at least a little cream in the beginning because I add that to my eggs but I'm going to try to ease into the amount because I can really go crazy with cream in my tea and HWC on my strawberries!
- Add it back but I would limit it to an ounce or two a day total (1oz = 2T). I was surprised by how much less cream I needed in coffee/tea since I had been drinking it black.

* Things I'm going to add in later, maybe even wait until P4 for: Peanut butter, nuts, greek yogurt, nut flours (such as almond), low carb desserts. As much as I hate to, I should probably wait until P4 for the *whipped* cream as well.
- I think this is wise.

Everything Shelby said.

Make SURE you get enough protein. And keep up your water intake. It still makes a difference. I did add a few more different fruits, like peaches, plums, etc, nothing really sweet or starchy like bananas.

I took it easy on the cheese too. And remember Peanut Butter is P4.....
