I could use your opinions and input...
I am doing an extended round (I am on R2P2vlcd45). I plan to do my round until the end of August/early September. When I end this round I expect to be within 15 pounds of my goal weight...maybe even closer. I currently weigh 157 and figured that with about 40 more days to go I will probably lose about another 20 pounds and I will end up around 135 to 140 pounds. My goal is 120 to 125.
My question is, since this will be an extended round, will I have a harder time stabilizing? On my R1, I did 43 days with 3 weeks for P3 and 3 weeks for P4 and I had no problems stabilizing AT ALL...I didn't have any correction days and I never moved outside of my 2 pound window. I am just wondering if I will have a hard time stabilizing since I am doing a longer round? My other question is that I am going to Vegas October 11th for a conference and will have been in maintenance for about a week. I plan to eat VERY healthy while I am out there - and probably more like P3 than P4 actually. Since I will be in maintenance for about a week, do you think that I should be stabilized? I am going to take my scale with me OF COURSE (even though my conference assigned roomie will probably think that I am a nut cake..LOL). I wonder if I would be better off staying in P3 for the conference? That would allow me to stay in P2 a few weeks longer too, which would get me closer to goal. I don't know ...what do all you seasoned veterans and long-rounders think?

I'm curious about this as well. I had originally thought to cycle back to P2 after 3 weeks on P3, but having done my extended round, I don't think that is such a good idea any more. I think that I need to put off another round until I do a complete P3 and P4.
Having said that, I will be in Vegas while just beginning P4. Luck be a lady! |

Jody, I think you'll be fine whichever you choose. P3 is its own kind of drama no matter how long you did P2, unless you cheat a bunch, which is a whole 'nother issue in and of itself. My opinion is the round you have chosen to extend is long enough - basically you will be protein deficient by the time you hit P3. And I'd rather see you stabilize well at home in P3 having been off P2 and be in that first stage of P4, because no matter how hard you plan, P3 in restaurants is NOT like low-carbing it with what gets added in from restaurant preparation.
I have traveled in P4 with just being a week in and did fine, ate basically P3 and a bite here and there of a starch and that was ok. Just be prepared to drink a ton of water and keep your protein high because eating out will get tricky what with salt and additives in restaurant food no matter how careful you are.
