I do use coconut oil...but in very limited quantities. Also yogurt...I constantly battle candida, so it's just one weapon in my aresenal. However, I mean like 1/2 teaspoon at a time. In P3 I can be more liberal with it.

Y'all are cracking me up with the pants! Anything below my belly button is low rise to me!

It's that teenage conditioning thing. When I was a teenager, low rise and flare were horrible fashion nonos. Everything had to be super high and tight as tight can be. If you could zip it up in the morning without a hanger threaded thru the zip...you weren't doing it right.

Now, being short and sort of appley....flares and slightly low rise look fabulous on me. I'll be disappointed when this fashion trend is over...which will probably be any day now that I've embraced it.

OMG, you and me both, Paula! I actually bought a couple of pairs of just those jeans recently for pure retro-sex-kitten value

I love coconut oil, and I eat quite a lot of it -- I melt it, add unsweetened cocoa powder and stevia, and then pour it into something cold, like yogurt or a protein shake -- it congeals a bit like "magic shell" topping! I also cook with it.

It has never stalled me, and in fact (eaten in reasonable quantities) seems to actually aid in losing lbs... but not everyone reacts well to it.

I am also constantly fighting candida, and coconut oil helps a lot on that front. It seems to aid digestion overall for me.

I also use it on my scalp, which can get very dry and itchy if I don't moisturize it, due to having dreads... particularly now that I am working out so much and I have to wash them pretty often.

Good morning, ladies! I woke before 5 so I couldn't weigh today. Pointless on early mornings like this. But tomorrow I will get an accurate one, hopefully.

Mini, since you mentioned your dreadlocks, how does one wash their hair with those? I haven't a clue and I've always wondered. Is your natural hair just weaved into them? That must take a long time to accomplish! What does it cost? Can you keep them in indefinitely or do they need to be redone as your hair grows out?

I hope everyone has a lovely day. I cancelled the lake deal because of rain. Next week hopefully!

PAULA!! look at you go, girl!! that's awesome! are you doing anything different from the start of the round or even from other slower rounds? congrats!

cheryl...i'm concerned about weighing once school starts...aug. 17. my boys have taken to morning showering everyday and i like to get mine out the way before theirs, so that puts me at getting up at 5.30 every morning. i have been weighing at 6:30 since starting hcg. i hope it's accurate to change that up.

I have been keeping the calories a bit lower. Trying for under 600 rather than 700. I suspect that makes a difference for me...plus I think my bod just goes thru long stalls and then quick releases what with the weird TOM water retention throughout the month.

For whatever reason, I'm grateful and going to stick with the same for the next few days.

Woo-hoo Paula!! So happy for you!! in the 120's!!! YEAH!! I know you were talking about ending your round soon, so all this losing toward the end is really inspiring!! You're doing great!! WTG!!

I'm one who can't do CO. I like it too, but always gain from it. Not sure why. I made the most delicious bark w/ it too, coconut, cocoa pwd., sweetener - yum!! Wish it worked for me. Many do quite well on it. Sigh.

Cheryl-sorry you had to postpone. Hope you have a good day anyway!

Dazy-an hour shouldn't make much difference. If it does, it'll straighten out the next day.

Mini-hope that virus gets going! Feeling crummy for this long is such a bummer. You're doing great keeping up w/ your workouts despite it!

I'm down another 0.8 today. Not surprising given how many times Bernice visited yesterday . But I was hungrier yesterday, ate later than normal and didn't get much sleep. Dh is having shoulder surgery this morning so we're up early and heading out soon.

I didn't get to the gym yesterday at all. Ran the kids all over the place to get ready to take dh to his surgery today. I won't likely get a workout in today either. I'll do one tomorrow, but that wont' make my 3/week commitment. W/ TOM and the craziness this week I'll have to be happy with that.

Regardless of what the scale says, I am definitely pleased with this round (so far). I feel stronger, leaner and less "fluffy" than when I started to be sure. I'm at least back where I was before vacationgeddon. I've got at least another 10 days and hope to get all the way back down to the 140's somehow. If I still feel well I may extend. I am concerned as I felt hungrier yesterday and this morning. I will be out all day today w/ no microwave, so I'm not sure how my eating will go. The lack of hunger is key to making it on days like today. Hope that kicks in after my morning dose.

Have a great Friday all!!

Some women have that pain and can tell, but most women don't have it. I think mine has a lot to do with PCOS and the egg bursting through a cyst. I am really hoping that between the weightloss and then exercise in P4, that my PCOS will be "cured." My blood sugar already looks amazing, and insulin resistance wreacks havoc on female hormones.

I hope your hubby's surgery goes well!! I'm sure you'll get a some downtime today while you're waiting on him, and that will give you some extra energy for your workout tomorrow.

I am down today! I was NOT expecting that! I was 129.6 today. I am not trying to lose weight, but that puts me at .3 above my LDW, so I am thankful for that extra wiggle room in my window. So far I have just introduced a little bit of dairy in the form of a serving a cheese per day, some milk in my coffee, and then a few bites of sugar free "mousse". I think I will wait until next week to introduce some nuts as a snack.

Thanks Paula! Yeah, a bit of a slow loser. I lost 11 lbs. in my BTB round (23 days). Who knows, maybe my rogue round will give me a bigger loss. Look at where you are nowMakes me wish I had kept up continueing rounds!!

Thanks, Cheryl! Glad to know that you have been able to lose at higher cals. Wine is always my biggest trouble so it would have to be VERY occasional that I would have some. I'm sure it would cause hunger, too.

Thanks, Julie! It's good to be back (almost) I wish I could start now, but I know it would be too hard during vacationing. Just hope I can at least maintain where I am now so I don't have to start at a much higher weight.

Best to everyone, I am trying to keep up with you all, so when I start I won't be behind!!

Good morning! I just realized I have lost 35 pounds (I guess that is no small accomplishment) since May, but I still have 100 to go. Hmmm. I am thinking that I should be able to do that in under a year, right? Those people on Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition can do 100 pounds in three months-so I should be able to do it in a year, right? (Pep-talking myself!!)

Thanks to all of you for your support and insights. I need to start exercising, now that my body is used to the lower calorie intake. Just can't seem to get there...

Have a good day, everyone!

Julie, I hope your hubby's surgery goes well! Good time for a nap while in the waiting room. I hate waiting rooms. Time goes slower there than anywhere else on the planet! WTG on the 0.8! Woohoo!

Dazy, sorry I missed your post. I think we posted at the same time. If you normally weigh that early, I don't think one more hour will make much of a difference. For me, if I weigh at 0600 vs 1100, I can be up to 2 lbs lighter later in the morning. (Fasting, of course.)

Maggie, nice drop! Glad you were pleasantly surprised! Wiggle room rocks!

Paula, whatever you're doing, keep doing it! Very nice results.

It is GLOOMY today. I took Benadryl a while ago for itchiness and runny nose and I may get a nap in. I hope so! Perfect day for it. Just need a little aromatherapy, the right lighting, pillows fluffed, gentle breeze and hum from a fan and I'll be good to go.

Woops! J4, I hear ya on the wine! Less is definitely more.

Maureen, I've only seen one of those programs (no cable at my house) but I thought it was 6 or 9 months they got to lose their weight. 3 months is a tad ridiculous. The one I saw (I think it was called "Rachel"), she didn't lose anything her second stretch before the weigh-in and they still allowed her to have cosmetic surgery! I thought that was nuts. She looked great when she got to the end but I think those kinds of surgeries are best kept until the end, to get the most flab.

35 lbs since May is FABULOUS!!! Wahoo, as someone said above! Do the happy dance, woman! You're getting there and no one can stop you from going ALL THE WAY!

Thanks, Cheryl! The encouragement is worth everything to me!!

On that program, with the trainer, the client loses 100 pounds in the first 3 months. But, Chris Powell (the trainer) lives with them (practically) and they work out 4-6 hours a day. Sigh. I don't know how they do that-the rest of their life must be on hold or something. And, the trainer gives them all new exercise equipment in their living rooms-no more tv and comfy couch.

I agree about the surgery. Wait until they are done. Most of them (I think I've watched each one) have not been eligible for the surgery-they seem to slip really badly once the trainer is gone-even with all that motivation. I think you have to work on the mental aspects as well as the physical aspects. They did put one guy into therapy-he decided he was addicted to food.

Have a great day!!

Thanks for all the info on the coconut oil, ladies!!! I use it on my scalp too, mini, and I have straight hair!! I need to make a trip to the natural market today to get some more. I wonder if they carry xylitol. I NEED some of that cocoa bark in my life soon but I think I'll wait a while since I'm still relatively new into my P2 (day 10, I think). Maybe I'll try just wait until P3

The cottage cheese may not have worked for me. I'm only down .5 today. Next experiment will be unsweetened greek yogurt for breakfast.

CONGRATULATIONS, Paula!!!!!! I've read in your posts that's your prewedding weight!!! YAY!

Just hanging out w/ hubby waiting for his dr. It's hard running around so much on p2. Much easier @ home. Just took my morning dose. Dh wants to go for pizza afterwards. We'll see how he feels. I'd just get a drink and wait til we got home.

Maggie- nice loss!! Go w/ it!!

J4- enjoy your vaca. You'll want that satiated feeling to stay w/ u while in p2.

I am on vlcd13 (I think) and still feel pretty good. I am starting to feel less energetic, and that weakness, lightheaded when I first get up, started yesterday. I'm gonna workout tomorrow and see how I feel. I hope it's TOM related, not the depletion I usually experience in p2. Ideally I'd like to past 3 weeks and see I'd I can get firmly onto the 140's. We'll see .

Morning, ladies!

Well, the scale is going nowhere for me -- I keep bouncing around in the 118-120 range, and not really deviating from that --- so I suspect if I want to shed this last ten, I am going to have to get pretty strict with cutting calories/sticking close to protocol. I've tried all the loopholes, and nothing is turning out to be magic, so I guess I have to play by the rules just like everyone else

I really hate that idea, but I think it may be what's necessary if I want to reach this goal.

As it stands, I am definitely still putting on muscle, so the stable weight does indicate a change in overall body composition -- and thus fat loss -- just a very slow, gradual fat loss. My butt is looking gooshy again, though.. and that may be a good sign.

I think I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing for the next week or so, until I am done with school -- and then I may give a real go at a near-protocol round -- I'll have 3 weeks off school, and that might be the time to do it. In the mean time, it's keto and moderate calories for me... who knows, that may lead to a scale drop after a bit in any event. I am looking leaner overall, so there is definitely progress -- it's just really, really slow.

I suppose I'll stay on the hhcg... and I will need to order some more for that last real round I think.

After that, I want to move into a real p3/p4, and do some work on raising the metabolism.

I'm going to be writing a paper today, with just an exercise break in there somewhere -- lifting day, yay!!!

Julie -- I feel ya on the running around on a real p2 -- that's part of why I think doing it during my break would be good -- then I can expend energy when I have it, and rest when I am dragged out.

Paula -- the 120s!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go, Paula, go!!!!!! You rock on woman!!!

Cheryl -- ok, dreadlock tutorial...lol!

Getting dreads professionally done and maintained costs a fortune, but I do my own, so I spend next to nothing on my hair... and next to no time on it, too... which I love

This is my method, though there are lots of different ways to go about this...

I put temporary dread extensions in a few years ago, as a way to try out the look, and then I finally decided that I wanted to take the plunge and lock up my own hair, and I am really glad I did....

Essentially, what I did was to section off my hair into clumps, and then really rat up each clump by backcombing it furiously with a metal comb, and then twisting and pulling apart the clump, and then repeating. Each clump eventually becomes a lock. I wanted some additional length, so I added some synthetic extension hair in to each lock, and combed it in along with my natural hair, so it became part of the clump and added thelength I desired.

When each lock had formed a good, solid mass, I took a very small crochet hook, and ran it through each lock over and over, pulling the hair through itself, and tightening the lock together. I added a product that makes hair extra grippy (it is a powder that is designed for this), so it pulled together well... and many, many hours of elbow grease later, I had dreads. They look kinda frizzy and fluffy at first, but with time and wear, they just look better and better.

All I do now is maintain them... meaning that about once a month, I spend a couple of hours making sure that none of the locks are growing together... and I backcomb the top of the lock into the roots, and pull it tight with a crochet hook and locking powder.... that keeps the locked part close to the scalp. I generally add in a small amount of synthetic hair at the root of each lock, too, which helps hold it all together -- but it is really just a bit of the synthetic hair... most of the lock is formed by my own roots. I use hot steam on them to blend in the synthetic hair (which is heat sensitive, and sort of melds in with my roots)-- crochet in any loose parts on the main dread, and off I go.

Washing is easy enough -- I wash them just like I would with normal hair, except I use a shampoo that is residue free and designed for dreads, so it doesn't leave any oils or other mess behind -- and I let them air dry. Every third or fourth washing I spray them down with a product that is designed to tighten locks... it is just sea salt and herbs... and let that dry in the hair.

I do have to moisturize my scalp, or it gets very dry -- ideally I wouldn't wash them but once or twice a month and I'd let the natural oils keep my scalp moist, but with working out so much, that isn't possible.... I just sweat way too much... so I wash them often, and moisturize the scalp.

There's no need to redo them -- they're permanent -- it's just maintenance from here on out. All things considered, I spend far less time on my hair now than I did before I locked it up -- and it has become a signature part of my look. I can just tie them in a knot, and go -- and styling them is really very easy.

I occasionally play with some variations...like weaving in bang extensions, or adding in a couple of synthetic, temporary locks or strands in different colors or whatnot -- for variety -- but the dreads themselves are here to stay.

Have fun at the natural market - I love that place! I hope the greek yogurt agrees with you -- that stuff is so yummy. I hope I can add it back in at some point.

Sounds like your round is going very well -- a .5 loss is terrific -- most people are happy to average .5 a day after the first week or so, and that is wonderful progress. You will be totally wowed with your results in no time

WOW, Mini! My arms were aching just reading about how you do those dreads. But at least it's permanent! Very cool and I'm glad you love them so much.

I watched that one program I have again today. (I bought it on Amazon Video so it's mine.) She weighed 369 at the start and he set a goal of 80 lbs for her first 3 months. Can you imagine having that guy move into your home for that long when an entire family is there? He was tossing all kinds of food from the family refrigerator like it was nothing at all! She should have gotten her own refrigerator and he should have let the people with normal weight keep eating as they had been before. I don't agree with that.

She only lost 3 lbs during her 3rd "chapter" and then he decided to let her have the surgery anyway. She was still well in the 200's. If you ask me, ALL the clients need therapy for food addiction! That should be a part of the program, not just reams and reams of exercise. Nobody keeps that up after the "game" or whatnot is over. Same with the Biggest Loser. Madness, I tell you! They need to get at the root of the problem, not just address food and brutal workouts.

I got a nap in and I feel somewhat better! I'm sure tonight I'll get all caught up and be back to my "normal" sleeping pattern.

Mini, maybe it's a good idea to go back to basics for a while and see how you feel. You're going to do another round after this one? Glutton for punishment! I will do one more in September and that will be it for me for a while. Too bad because I bought all those pellets!

Julie, I hope you feel better soon. Someone in the family always wants to go for pizza, don't they? Stay strong! Sounds like you will. Iron will!

Lebebe, was the Cottage Cheese a CD? I never heard of that one. I think it is wise to wait for P3 to try the CO. No sense in messing things up until you know how your system handles it.

Cheryl, but you have to not have the temptations in the house to succeed, and the family eating differently is very hard and very much a temptation... and it has to become a family affair in the eating afterwards too, so everyone needs to have healthy eating habits to help the obese one to succeed. Just my opinion of course, but I am sure it helps out the one losing.

I have to agree...even if I didn't have a weight problem, stocking the house with junk food just isn't good. So many "so called" children's foods are simply junk food. AKA apple juice, crackers, "fruit" snacks, etc. They are either stuffed with high fructose corn syrup or are empty white flour products.

My kids are irritated that we don't have a pantry stuffed full of junk, but they are also both in the healthy weight ranges (one at the bottom near 5, one more like 80%). Even for the underweight one, I'm even more concerned if she replaced her calories of healthy options with unhealthy ones, since she eats so much less and loves sugar.

My kids can always eat cheese, nuts, or fruit for a healthy snack. When that doesn't appeal...you pretty much know they aren't really hungry at all.

Not that we're perfect...DH insists on constant ice cream in the house...and brings in chips and hides them from me, since they are my downfall.

Every child I know whose pantry has all those junk foods is overweight or obese. There are just thousands more junky products on the shelves than when we were growing up, and so many parents don't know how to cook or serve real food. It's a huge problem only growing worse.

Paula, you are 100% right, even when I was really fat (240 lbs) and eating b badly (major sweet tooth here) my kids were not allowed treats really, but once or twice a week.. (do as I say, not as I do). They were never allowed soda, except an occasional when we went out to eat or something. Their snacks were usually fruit as well. Although they did have alot of packaged foods, as I could not cook for nothing and we used to all eat a lot of prepared crap! But I did not fill them with junk food in between. They are all either very skinny, son is very skinny! or healthy weight. My girls, 22 and 20 both battle a bit with 5 lbs or so... but thats from the fast food and crap that they do now that they are not at home anymore. But still, they are both very thin and normal weight, with an occasional "over indulgences now" So I feel okay about their habits, even though mine were horrible, I tried not to let them too!

Such a busy day, I haven't had a chance to check in until now. As you warned me, Mini, the HCG at GNC was not quite the right kind. After going to two different ones, I tried Vitamin Shoppe and they had a small bottle of the spray. I was literally spraying my dose in the parking lot as soon as I got back to the car as it had been 48 hrs. w/out any doses. Hopefully this will keep me on track. No loss today, but hunger is in check.

Took DD to the DPS first thing this morning to get her license (today is her 16th BD). All the driving exam times were already filled. Such a disappointment! In order to get a time we are going to have to get there at 6am and line up (folding chairs in tow) and wait two hours until the office opens -- boy, things have changed since I was 16.

Another great loss! I love the "vacationgeddon" -- that was my problem too!

Being away from home makes it so much more difficult. When I am in P2 I really try to stick close to home where I have full control over what food is available and when.

I am also hoping to get into the 140s on this round. Then maintain there for P3 and blast my way down to my long term goal in the next round. hopefully I won't have to do an extended round to get to 140s. We'll see.

35 lbs is quite an accomplishment. You should be very proud of that!!

I don't know how realistic the Extreme Makeover thing is. And I think they do nothings else during those 3 months, where as the rest of us have a work and other responsibilities and cannot spend 100% of our time on just that.

But you will get there!!
