HCG drops
So my doctor prescibed me the hcg drops today. I don't plan on following any other diet except my low carb diet I've been on. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on taking this. What can I expect in how I feel?
Thanks, Susan |

Hi there!
Unfortunately, HCG usually will not work with a low carb diet. You need to follow as close to protocol as possible (allowing a bit of rogue if that is what you prefer) to get the correct balance of calories, fat, and carbs. Low carb diets are typically too high in fat. Also, if you look up the "Pounds and Inches" pdf online written by Dr. Simeon, it will tell you almost all you need to know about how the diet works, what to expect, and what to eat. Good luck! Hopefully your prescribing doctor is knowledgeable in the HCG protocol and doesn't unintentionally set you up for disaster. I completely agree with Lilac on this - if you don't follow protocol (at least give it a shot) you most likely won't be happy with the results. Read the Dr. Simeon PDF as suggested and research, research and research. All of the wonderful folks on this forum are full of tips and support - but bottom line is doing it by the book (or close) is your best way to approach this the first time out. One of the best posts I've come across said...."give it 3 weeks, I can do anything for 3 weeks".
My husband and I are in Phase 4, we've both lost and maintained over 30+ in our first round and are getting psyched up for R2 the beginning weeks of August. It's mind over matter....or in this case mind over "FAT"..... Go For It!!!!!

I agree with the above. LC and HCG aren't meant to go together. HCG isn't a diet pill where you can eat what you want and still lose weight. I'd be afraid of any diet product a doctor would prescribe without giving me complete information on diet, exercise and supplements.

Thanks so much, guys. When I told my doctor I was on Lowcarb she started talking up lowfat like she always does. She said that low fat is the only proven way to lose weight. blah, blah, blah. Not once did she connect a low fat diet with the drops she just gave me. I always reseach anything before I consume it ESPECIALLY perscriptions from my doctor. That's how I discovered that Atkins was the diet for me. But I sure applaud all of you that has done so well on HCG. Doesn't sound like it's for me, though.
