Any male lurkers? Husband needs motivation!

So... BIG day in the LB household. Mr LB has FINALLY agreed to try hHCG.

I have ordered some Intermountain pellets and we have decided to begin a round after we come back from renewing our vows in Vegas the 1st week of September.

Mr LB is 6'2 and 265. He was up around almost 300 lbs last year but was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and since then he's lost about 35 lbs doing low carb. They removed his thyroid, caught the cancer in time, and everything seems to be fine with that. He's currently on Synthroid which spikes his appetite here and there, doc is still messing with the dosage to "get it right".

Anyway, I have not pushed him at all but he knocked me over when he told me he was willing to try a 23 day round. He would like to get down to the weight he was when we got married. He was 235 lbs then and PERFECT.

I know that I get tons of motivation from the ladies here. I was hoping to flush out some men who can post in this thread with their experiences.

Anyone?

Well, my husband isn't on here but he is doing this with me. He started at 295 pounds, 299 after load (6'0) and after R1 was down to 251 We just started R2 and he's lost 9 pounds in 5 days (including 2 pounds load weight).

My Hubbs is doing it with me as well! His high weight was 385 2 yrs ago, he lost 25 doing low carb with me and then we yo-yo"ed for a year and finally both decided to try hhcg in March of this year. He started at 365 and is now down to 300 as of this week! Im very proud of him (and me) for sticking with it! We still have 1-2 rounds in our future as he would like to get down to around 250lbs. He's 6"0 and very large framed so 250 will look very nice on him! We did a 35 day round our first round--then 2nd round was 28 days, and this current round will be 21 days. Tell your hubby to go for it!

WOW -
I will be watching this thread as my brother as decided that he will try a 23 day round also.

His wife and I are soooo excited as we think, since men lose weight so fast, that when he drops that first 20 lbs in that time period, he will get motivated enough to continue a full 40 day round.

He is 6' 2" and about 295 lbs. He has blood pressure issues and we are hoping this diminishes if not completely eliminate that problem.

His wife is doing this with him and preparing all of his lunches - therefore eliminating a whole lot of temptation.

I have suggested that she up his protein since he works outside(in Texas heat) and walks at least 3 miles everyday as part of his job.

My husband has done 4 rounds of rx HCG in the last year. He's lost 110lbs and has kept it off. He was 6' and the scale stopped reading at 330, so we don't know what his highest weight was. He's now in the 220's.

Thank you SO much for your input!

His caloric ceiling for his height and weight and activity level is a whopping 3200+ calories a day. There is NO way for him to fail is the way I see it!

I feel like a bit of a creep, when you ask for 'lurkers'...

At any rate, I was just browsing through this site, because it has a lot of useful info on HHCG, and I came across your posting.

Looks like you've had fantastic results from using the the HHCG! I did a 43 day round of diet spray (My Fat Cure) last summer, and I lost a total of 39 pounds.

Over the winter, I gained 9 pounds of it back (because I ate like a hog at Christmas, and kept it up until June!).

I did another 3 week cycle of HHCG at the beginning of July, and lost 13 pounds (I cheated for about 4 days in the middle).

I am planning on doing another 2 - 3 week cycle at the end of August, because I want to lose about 10 more pounds. I can DEFINITELY confirm that this protocol works... and it works exceptionally well for men.

My original start weight (last summer) was: 236 pounds
My finish weight (after 43 days) was: 197 pounds

My start weight (this July ) was: 206 pounds
My current weight is: 193 pounds

My goal is to be around 180 - 185.

My husband and I did a round together and although he isn't on here "lurking" I am sure to tell him all of the good things I find and read about from the ladies on the forum. I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy, but when I find something that works I stick with it. He lost 10lbs more than I did on the first round....I'm coming after him for round 2 and he doesn't even know it yet. I even managed to get him involved in some of the cooking but then he convinced me I was sooooo much better at making the chili, so I convinced him that he was soooooo much better at washing the dishes!!!

Go get him!! I'm quite competitive myself and would love to beat my husband's losses one round. But darn if it doesn't just melt off of him!!

P3er doing EFGT as a test

Hi,
Lurking all over several forums just a few posts. I've done 2 43 day rounds and lost 70lbs but cheated back 10 lbs in the middle on first P3 (I started at about 410lbs). I found the EFGT forum and decided to give it a try easily maintaining my LDW. Getting ready to start another round 23 days this time I think.
I'm going to use EFGT ratios for my meals for at least the first week or so to see what happens. On EFGT I'm eating between 1800 and 2200 cals a day depending on hunger and cravings. I really was never hungry on HCG but wanted to eat because of boredom or wanted a different taste. I'm hoping EFGT meals will help some of that and keep me in ketosis longer.

Question, what is EFGT?

Had you ever done Simeon's protocol? I'm assuming yes having read your post but was just curious.

First of all,

I know. He hears 500 calories and his mind just shuts down. Especially when he is used to eating 4000-5000 calories a day. He committed to working up to the 3200 in P3 and not a moment sooner.

When we first got married, he had a 34 inch wait. Last year, right before his thyroid cancer diagnosis, he was clocked in at almost 300 lbs and wore a 44 pant and belt.

He's dropped about 35 doing lower carb (still insist on some carbs so I cook what I can to balance the two). He's watched me lose over 70. The other day he says, "You know, I've thought about it, and anything you can do, I can do." And then committed to a 23 day round BUT ONLY if I cooked his meals and planned them all. Put it in front of him, remind him when to take his pellets, and hide all the junk food. Then the further condition was that I cook him through P3 and P4. SO MANY CONDITIONS! But I am just grateful he is even considering it!

11 years ago he was 235 lbs and man, he was a hunka hunka! That is only 30 lbs from where he is at right now and I really have faith 1 round of HCG is all it will take!

With guys it is our pride that makes it hard. After loading, I figured I need to lose the 5 lbs I gained in one day! Day 3 and I have lost that weight and another 7.9 lbs! I don't really exercise (though I should) and I have done Fasting diets while working at a restaurant. I did that health not weight.

Sounds like he wants to lose the pounds, he just needs a good cheerleader. And take advantage of that. He washes the dishes & you prepare the meal (get him a nice girly apron and burn the food). Prep is easy considering you can make a lot and freeze the rest. Plus our recipes only can have protein, veg, and spices. After awhile, when he sees the fat disappear, he will start doing it himself. IMO. But I am just a guy.

EFGT WoE

EFGT is a WoE that puts forth that almost 60% of the protein we eat is turned into glucose which raises blood sugar and therefore insulin. Insulin causes storage of glucose as fat. EFGT replaces the extra protein with healthy fats
(almost any except transfat) for energy. Approx. ratio 60% 25% 15% fat protein carb.

My son is afraid to try hcg because he read that it might increase breast tissue. Does anybody know if that is fact or fiction?

My husband was a little skeptical about the hormone for that reason too. But after one 40 day round and 14 days into round 2, no issue!

Personally I am ~100 lbs overweight, I already have them! To be fair, I am watching very closely my progress. Not too worried with HHCG, though.

Simeon originally started the whole HCG thing on the "fat boys" who had, as he put it, "breasts any flat-chested maiden would be proud to possess". So I believe HCG does NOT give you man-boobs, but rather quite the opposite.

Kind of off-topic, but how is his thyca treatment going? Did they do radiation and have him on synthroid now? How's he feeling? HCG will work for anyone with thyroid problems who can't lose weight, and his thyca probably contributed to a lot of his weight gain, believe it or not. I am a thyroid-treatment junkie (had to be my own advocate to get diagnosed and optimally treated), so if you or he ever has any questions, I'd be glad to help.

HCG does NOT give males breast tissue. It is 100% a myth to scare people away from trying the diet.

He had the radiated iodine treatment. He's on Synthroid now. He has days where he is really tired but other than that, he is doing great! They removed a tumor the size of a baby's fist from his neck that had completely wrapped itself around his thyroid. His diagnosis was officially "papillary carcinoma with follicular variant" but the docs told us that papillary is the best type of thyroid cancer to get because of its high cure rate.

His diagnosis was officially "papillary carcinoma with follicular variant" but the docs told us that papillary is the best type of thyroid cancer to get because of its high cure rate.
Did they remove his thyroid, or just the tumor? I would have him ask his doctor about adding some Cytomel (T3 hormone) to his Synthroid (T4 hormone). That will really help with his energy levels. If his doctor is open to it (and a lot of them AREN'T), he could also ask for Armour thyroid, which is what I am on. It's a natural T3/T4 combo med, and it works wonders for many, many people. If he (or you) are into reading, check out the book Living Well with Hypothyroidism by Mary Shomon. Wonderfully informative book. And yes, thyroid cancer is one of the "best" cancers to have (even though cancer is awful), because of the high cure rate.

Oops, sorry, yes... they removed the thyroid too. The tumor was just too twisted around it. It was pretty awful. I saw it on the ultrasound and it reminded me of one of those Alien movies.
