Perspective

I had to laugh at myself this morning. I weighed in at 191.8 and I was so happy about that. I remembered hitting 191 on the way up and thinking, omg...the dreaded 190's... but this morning seeing 191 on the scale was welcomed.

The numbers look so much better on the way down don't they?!

Definitely!!

There have been several times in my life where I approach 175/180, and think, "ugh...here I go again". I always vow to not let myself get to that point, but I lose control, get that "I don't give an eff" attitude, and it happens.

I will be 42 next month, want this weight rollercoaster to end, want to set a good example for my 5yo and 2-1/2yo kids, and want to feel good in my skin. I have no excuses in my life why I cannot get myself to where I want to be...and stay there! I've always wondered if one day I could be at a place where I don't battle with my weight day in and day out...and I finally feel like I am getting to that place!

I know exactly what you mean. I remember being happy when I saw 140, and then I thought that 140 was a number I never thought I'd be UP to.

Yep! Isn't it funny that when we first see that 190 we don't stop it?? LOL But when we get back to it we feel good. Funny. Just keep on going!

It also varies from person to person. I see some of the start weights on this forum and think to myself, if I weighed that "much", I wouldn't worry about dieting.

But it's all about where YOU are in your journey, not someone else. Their start weight has nothing to do with you. And yours has nothing to do with them. I just gotta remember that.

Good point Lisa. I've felt that way too.

Great post, Balance--it's astounding how your perception of numbers changes depending on which side you're looking from!

VERY good point, BBG. It's so hard not to compare, and comparing with others is a surefire recipe for disappointment and frustration. No one else lives in YOUR body, no one else has walked your path, and your successes and frustrations are relative only to you! (I really identify with what you're saying because at 5'10", my goal weight of 165 is many people's "oh no, I can't believe I've let myself get THIS FAT!" weight. Likewise, I know my current weight is some people's goal weight.)

Btw, congrats on your progress! Amazing!
