Hi, guys. I'm back from spending the week in CO--had a nice time, but worried a lot about food and weight and eating. I need to get past that obsessiveness. Anyway, the weight turned out just fine, after all my fretting.

I've got to start thinking seriously about when I start R2. Don't feel quite ready yet.

Letitia, so sorry you're sick again. That's just part of being around young kids--at least it was for me.

I don't think there was any power loss here in the OC, but i was gone, so not sure!

I'm pooped tonight--I sang in a 9/11 ceremony at the Nixon presidential library this morning, and had to be there really early. Talk to you girls tomorrow!

Hey Jessica, I forgot you were here in Colorado. Pretty decent weather for your visit then? Glad to have you back with us!! Glad your weight was fine, but sorry you stressed it. I think we learn that from so many years of dieting and that if we dont, we would gain it back, (which is probably a bit of truth)

Letitia, glad you are able to chew a bit now and feeling better in that area.

I am still not able to chew really. This temporary does not fit well and so I have to secure it the best I can, but its irritating and frustrating, but i will live. Once my gums are healed completely, I will be fitted for a better one and hopefully will find some balance to eating then! UGH! I am learning a bit though to get some stuff in, but mostly still soft stuff...

Michelle, I get exhausted reading about your dating and guys! I dont know if I would have the energy for the dating scene anymore! LOL I think more what would kill me would be the drinking...hahaha... when I did date, I drank a lot more than now.. and me and alcohol dont mix well! LOL

It was lovely, Cathy! I was in FoCo on Wed. and Thurs., and you may recall that Wed. was rainy, but Thursday, Friday and Saturday were absolutely PERFECT! We spent Thursday taking some back roads up to Estes Park, and had lunch and shopped there. And I saw ONE aspen that had changed colors, so I got a tiny dose of fall!

My heart goes out to you girls who can't chew. It makes life so stressful not to be able to eat normally, and boy have I been there before...

Glad you enjoyed your time here! It has been a bit cooler, which is great. I have not been up to Estes in a while, but I might try to swing up there and check out the aspens this year! They are so pretty when they change!!

Cathy- sorry that the healing has been a slow process for you but am glad that you don't seem to be having any setbacks at least! i think i'm going to pay my dentist a quick visit to get some minor adjustments to my crowns this week and then schedule the scaling for when we come back from our orlando, fl trip.i'm going to be doing another round (to be honest i've not set foot on the scale in about 5 days bc i don't want to get back into my funk!). perhaps the sore mouth will make starting p2 easier. :-) i was thinking starting p2 on 10 October (just after my hubby's commencement weekend) but now it looks like we will FINALLY get a date night (with booze and a cab!) on 14 Oct, when a group of us go to this dive karaoke bar. i can easily have fun with no booze (2 glasses of wine ruin me!) but it would be fun to be able to get a little sassy with my hubs and not act like the old fuddy-duddies that we've become. anyhoo, we'll see. at the rate i'm going, i'll be right back to where i was at the start of my last round. :-( i definitely need some egg and GY days quick. hmmm, i think wednesday. :-)

michelle- i feel so out of touch re: CO. :-( i'm like a girl walking in on all the good gossip right when everyone is laughing and giving those knowing looks. darn that piss poor attitude of mine! i'm out of the loop! anyway, good luck! i'm glad you didn't deal with that DB. blech!! not worthy!

Hi guys. Just a quick touchbase today... After yoga, light eating, and weights yesterday morning, I was down 0.5 today to 152.7. I am just sure I will be up tomorrow though--I am starting to feel really sore and that never bodes well for my weight. Oh well, we'll have to see what we see.

Letitia - not much to tell on Mr. CO. Just an interesting man that I met (thus he is "Mr. Cautiously Optimistic"--CO does not stand for coconut oil in this case... or Colorado for that matter! ). We had one date then he left town for 10 days and it sure would have been nice if I would have had a distraction while DB was texting me! He should be back at this point but I know how I am when I get back from vaca--TOTALLY swamped and not thinking about who I need to set up a date with! I have at least 3 others who are vying for my attention, plus contractors, exercise, work, doc's appts and car troubles--my week is a bit full, even without Mr. CO!

No news to report...well, I did notice that I no longer have back fat. Don't know why it took me so long to notice, but woooooahh baby, was that a great moment for me!!!

That girl that called me fat last year told me again this Sabbath how great I looked. I didn't even have the urge to punch her in the face, so I must be making progress, right?

Hey Cat - forgot I wanted to say... it's weird but a lot of the guys that I am going out with don't drink at all. Including DB, Mr. CO and my last boyfriend. They don't seem to care if their date drinks--they just abstain themselves. Is it the time of life? Is it that drinking caused issues in the past and thus why they are single?? Who knows. I DO know that I am also drinking a whole lot less these days, on dates and not on dates, and it sure makes it safer and easier when you meet someone new to be sane and sober.

The whole dating thing IS exhausting though. I literally have 6 pages of emails (no joke) from guys that look interesting. I delete the ones that I'm not interested in and I still have 6 pages! I may take down my profiles if this keeps up because I just can't juggle more than 4 or 5 at a time. And even that is tiring... Not to be all woe is me but seriously, where are they all coming from??? They sure weren't around 3 years ago, last time I tried this business!

Michelle, good to know they dont all drink now.. always makes you worried of what you end up with after the "good behavior" is gone. I was engaged to a severe alcoholic before my current husband, but Iwas drinking when I met him (not like him of course, just weekends, but way too much) and then he could not understand when I settled down again why I did not like him the way he was... well... with kids, not likely my scene ... so we parted ways. I could have probably become an alcoholic if I let it get away. I have an "addictive" personality, whatever I may be into at the time.

Drew, hope you dont end up in the boat with Letitia and me! Healthy vibes for your teeth coming your way!! Are you in P3 now??? Enjoying it??? or tomorrow??

Letitia, hope your "touch" up visit goes okay. i have a scaling coming too, to the bottom teeth! UGH!! Still have to finish the top crap first! need to go back and have it relined, its too big again and its horrid!

As for football...YUCKY!!! I hate football. My hubby is not allowed to watch it. Unless I am not home or in the same room. I am a hockey girl though, love hockey, at least for the first 6 months, then it gets old too! I was traumatized with football as a kid with my dad, hate it, hate it, hate it!! When you going to FL? For a vaca?? fun times?

okay...bit the bullet and weighed myself. :-( 154.4. today i have done a GY day and am working on increasing my water intake. bernice is a definite issue bc i've had really really poor fluid intake (not just water!) for awhile now. i think i need to chug a bit, now that i think of it. i only had 1 bottle of water and a coffee today. oops. yes, i know it's terrible but i WAS just drinking a coffee (a triple espresso) and maybe a half bottle of water. i'm hoping that if i can increase my water then at least 2 of those lbs will go away. anyway, tomorrow i'm just eating eggs. i then may have a day with a little salad and eggs. then maybe i'll do a roast chicken day. sigh. why did i do this to myself???

oh yeah! i have to tell you something crazy. my assistant reported to me today that one of the 3 male speech paths that work in my district (whom i rarely see) asked her if i had surgery!!! he said, and i quote, "letitia looks great! did she have surgery or something?" LOL! i am in shock!! i know i lost some weight but i was wearing 12's!! WTH?? i was thinking that he meant the lapband but then i was mentioning it to my husband, he said, "well you HAVE lost a lot of weight but i don't think you looked like you could have done the lapband, more like liiiii." then he clammed up!! lmao! i love my hubby. he was too scared to say liposuction. anyway, weird how i don't see any difference in how i look but i look drastically different to a work colleague. ah the psyche.

lildrew- good luck tomorrow! glad you're taking care of those teeth. i am sure things will go well, but if for some reason they don't, you know you've got some friends here to commiserate with!

cathy- i don't have a choice with the football and my midwestern hubby. i actually enjoy it when it's not the only topic or show on our tv! still, i'd rather just watch girly reality tv and then a superbowl only!! glad your hubby heeds your football warning! good man! smart man!

michelle- i can't wait for your latest love life updates. you know my mom got married 2 years ago to a guy she met online. she was in NC and he was in CA. she told me about him and was using the "L" word really fast (NOT my typical, cynical and practical mom). he moved out to nc and they got married (maybe a year together first?). he's a really good man. i figure it's alllll a numbers game and not where you meet people. hell, i met mine at a discotheque! lol i figure with the amount of guys you're meeting, you will find THE one pretty dang soon!! we should get you one of those machines that announces the next customer: "Number 43" lol whaddya think?

I think since when I was a kid that was all that was on tv, I just cannot stand it!!!! My dad watched it all day long, every game, monday night, sunday, college, you name it. I just hate it with a passion!! Not to mention, its rather boring! I would prefer a good movie, or ... a few tv shows, but I am not a huge fan of TV in general.... definitely not football!!!! Ok - boy update... Mr. CO texted me. He's back in town and we're going to talk later this week. I have a tentative date with the Aussie either tonight or Friday and a definite date with Boy #1 tomorrow (another 30 y/o--what am I DOING???). I sure hope tonight doesn't happen because frankly, I am exhausted and really not in the mood to try to be charming... I've tweaked something in my neck, didn't sleep well last night, and am tired and in pain right now. Makes for one cranky Shelby!

Dentist visit went great! I was a bit embarrassed when she pointed out I hadn't been there for almost four years, which means I haven't been to ANY dentist in that long.

I am glad that is over though! I mentioned to my dentist that I have been going to her for the last 19 years!! She almost fell over. She forgot how old I am! HA! I LOVE it when people think I am younger. I serioulsy want to start writing it down in a journal and then will pull it out to read when I am old and wrinkly.

152.2 today (-2.2)! yay! granted i'm sure most of it (all of it?) was water weight but i don't care. i guzzled water last night and felt like i was living in the tinkletorium! today is egg day. yippee. the whole family is having egs for dinner tonight. lol thank goodness hubs is supportive and wanting drop a few lbs before our trip too.

Sounds like this was a pretty good day for everybody--so glad! (My weigh-in was not stellar--I am out of my window by a hair, and wasn't able to correct because of a lunch meeting. But tomorrow...) But heck, I'm still in a good mood today. I like fall, and it's coming fast now!

quick check in. this has been a pretty cruddy week for me d/t the 4 year old's behaviour and work stress. binge and purge situations abound...along with wine and chocolate. oh yeah, pms doesn't help. trying to keep the piss poor attitude at bay, but she's rearing her ugly head again. :-( i can't wait until friday night when we leave for fl. if ds doesn't fly right, perhaps i'll just leave him there!! thanks, cathy! i cannot wait until florida...so i can hand off my kids to my parents!!!! i am pretty much about to accept that i am not going to ever maintain my weight (or what used to be my goal) as long as my older son is in the home! i love that kid more than life itself but BOY does he push EVERY FREAKIN' button of mine. I can only imagine how much he'd drive me batty if he wasn't in love with me (Talk about Oedipal Complex!! lol). sometimes i tell him that i think i may need to run away, since he is so keen on upsetting me. i ask him if that would be okay with him. his response? it's okay if i run away bc he'll come wiht me. lol anyway, i keep gaining and losing the same 3 or so pounds, depending on my little love's mood. oh well. at least he's extremely intelligent. i'm going to have to bank on him to put me in a good nursing home and to gift me with the good swiss or german chocolates when i no longer care if i'm fat or not! ;-) the 2 year old acts...well, he acts 2. that is much more tolerable bc i can just walk away for him and wait for the tantrum of the hour (half hour? quarter hour) to subside. lol

on a good note, i'm able to chew more and more on my left side!! i can't do anything too hard but i've chewed meat on that side without breaking down in tears.

Hey Letitia! I must have missed an update--did our thread drop to the second page or something? Glad to hear the chewing is getting better. And I am absolutely sure you look freakin' AMAZING at whatever weight you are at right now!

Anyway, boy update... I've got not one but TWO in the keep pile for now. The Aussie was a dud (despite a cool accent) but Mr. CO and Boy #1 are very promising indeed. Seeing them both again sometime this week. Yoga and weights have been kicking my butt but I do think I am seeing a bit of tightening because my pants are getting looser while my weight is staying the same'ish with the usual fluctuations during the week--up and down 3-4 pounds. I am getting immune to it, I tell ya!

I learned my lesson about not drinking enough water!! I went up over 2 lbs in two days...ARGH! But I did a GY CD yesterday which is NO hardship. ! And I am back down within my range. Part of me wants to do another one to get exactly to my LDW, but I don't want to get too obsessive. I won't be able to do another round until the end of October, but I am CHOMPING at the bit to get 'er done!

I did have the best conversation ever yesterday with somebody at work.
Him: You need to stop losing weight, you're getting scrawny.
Me: Okay, dude that's kind of rude...wait, is scrawny another word for "skinny"?
Him: Yep.
Me: I think I love you.
Him: Yep.
Both laugh hysterically.

Ahhhhh, now that is my kind of conversation!!!

Letitia, glad that you are able to eat more... waiting for my day! I cannot even eat my salads, the cranberries or almonds knock the darn thing out everytime!! GRR, I go in again on Thursday for another adjustment and then we will see how long until the permanent one is ordered, but I think it will be at least another month! not even getting good weight loss without being able to eat normal, figures huh??

Letitia, yes, children are trying at the best of times. I am surprised I ever had more after my first one, she was a challenge beyond words!! Did I tell you I will be a grandmother next year???? OMG!! She is 22, and will be 23 when she has it, but I am sooo not ready to be a grandmother!!

Cathy - sorry your teeth are still giving you problems but keep after it and it will eventually get better. Persistence is the key to many successes in life! Believe me, I live it! And I canNOT believe that you have kids that old, much less are about to be a grandmother! Holy moly, girl! What kind of juice are you drinking???? As far as boys go, not really sure about long-term or just dating around--I think it depends on the guy. If he is appropriate for LT, then I'd go for it. If not, then I'll just have fun. Unfortunately, Mr. CO looks long-term but is taking his sweet time getting around to seeing me again. Boy #1 is COMPLETELY inappropriate but is anxious to get together. Makes juggling a little challenging! But I'm up for the challenge! Ah, the life of a single girl in LA!

I have been really, really, REALLY busy with my job, small though it is, starting up for the fall season. Things should settle down for me right away once I get back into my schedule, though.

I'm excited to say that I started R2 over the weekend. I loaded Sat. and Sun. and gained 5.4 pounds (wow--only gained 2 with R1.) Lost 3.2 this morning, so maybe in another day or two I'll be back where I was and can head into virgin fat land...
