Soda?
Hi all! I've been lurking here on your wonderful board and am on round 2, phase 2 day 2. Quick question for you: Has anyone had success adding a bit of diet soda during phase 2? I totally get the importance of water but gosh, I sure do miss a diet soda now and again.

Sure! To be honest it wasn't something I felt I could give up and still stay on Protocol. It may be something I eventually give up, but for now...it's a lifesaver!

Since I am doing my own dr's plan rather than the Simeon plan (it's similar...same calories but more choices) he allows 2 diet sodas a day. I started out thinking I might need to cheat, even on that! But if I drink all my water, and enjoy some tea, I have yet to "need" more than one diet drink. I do try to drink even more water after I have it though.

I am a huge fan of diet pepsi and coke zero (one can per day - at the most, two).
BUT I tried to cut it out during my first round with success. This round, I have a tad bit here and there - maybe 3 times per week w/success. However, I think we're better off without it. I always see drastic and amazing results on the days w/no diet soda. But for the most part, I think it's okay. |

When I did hhcg prior to getting pregnant with my twins I had great success. I made sure to drink my gallon of water a day, plus I also had 1 can of Diet Dr. Pepper in the afternoon. Needed a little caffeine pick-me-up! It didn't seem to effect my losses at all. I added it about 2 weeks into my first round.

ditto ~~I drank 1 to 2 cans of coke zero or sprite zero. No effect on losses 36 pounds in 35 days.

So far I haven't drank any soda but I have a selection of Zevia's in my fridge to choose from if I do want one. I really like the cola and caffeine-free cola to drink with food but the cream soda is my favorite just to drink as a treat. I love it over crushed ice.

I was a huge diet pepsi addict. I stopped drinking it on P2 just so I would be forced to drink water. In P3 I didn't even want to drink it, I have tried to drink it recently and found I had lost my taste for it. This doesn't answer your question, but wanted to tell you my experience.

I'm a Deit Coke-aholic. I've gone cold turkey off of it when I started P2. I've tried to give it up several times. Since the Dr. didn't put it on the list, I'm going to try to stay away from it.

I avoided diet soda for the first 3 weeks of P2, and then decided it was one perk I would allow myself. I drank diet soda for 5 straight days, and lost weight each day. I now continue to allow myself the diet soda and don't even think about it.
