My whole family gets this look on their faces whenever I mention my LCFs. They are too funny!! You should have seen their reaction when I was planning a meet up with BBG on the way to our vacation next week. Then those plans fell through, as my birthday is her MIL's birthday LOL. But y'all just know so much that I share about y'all all the time

You are doing so well

When I am in P3 I cannot "do restaurants" either. I think it must be what they inject in the meats/food to make it sooo yummy. Plus it could be the sodium. I have learned that very early on, restaurants are tricky business. I know you are happy to be down once again

Morning all I'm down 3 from steak day but I feel super dehydrated. I drank tea all day yesterday and maybe its the caffeine but I feel like my heart is racing. Drinking water... but feeling loopy. So I'm now at the top of my window and will try to eat clean, well clean-ish.
When I make coffee and use heavy cream it just doesnt taste as good as the powdered creamer does but that has corn syrup solids whatever that means. The sugar free version has an aftertaste. Suggestions? lol maybe stay away from coffee, lol.

From what I know you can safely eat at The Outback and WingStop. At the Outback online site you can check their low carb menu, but I usually get the ribeye green beans and house salad no croutons w/blue cheese dressing.... and Wingstop hot, garlic parmesan, and lemon pepper wings have no breading or sugar and both the blue cheese and ranch are safe.
Carls Jr has a low carb burger but you have to ask for no ketchup, and they also have a grilled chicken salad with blue cheese dressing, hold the croutons. Hope this helps.
Oh ya In-n-out has a low carb burger too!

Nope!! No matter what I still can gain after eating out while in P3. It has to do not so much with "safe foods" as much as how our body processes the "unclean" food. P2 is so restrictive and "clean" so that when you transition to P3 and go out it has all these chemicals to process. Food that has caused me no gain while doing Atkins induction, can make me gain a lot while in P3. And we are talking even just salads!!!

Half and half is just that...half cream and half milk. So it is thinner and tastes like it! I use the 2 interchangeably. If one is on sale I pick that up, if the HWC is cheaper I get that for the week.

No, since it happens every single time I know that it is only temporary. Just prepare to be up on the scale the very next day after eating out. As long as you know where your gain is coming from it is much easier to see those numbers on the scale rise. One more reason journaling is very important.

I suggest a 5 lb leeway instead of the much narrower 2 lb window Dr S allowed for. Do not forget that all the worrying will cause weight gain as well. So I say quit worrying about the scale and focus on other things...like new puppies!!!

Oh, and congrats on the new puppies!!
thanks dawn, I am 4 over, doing a gy cd day today, yes it will be my last one so very tired of it, I load on sat/sun, but not sure what to eat. have cravings for fried clams LOL..no sugar, thats a shocker. yes the pups are very cute and very small. Mary

Good morning. Wasn't that hungry yesterday, but thought I snacked on enough high calorie stuff to be ok. Not. Down a lb today. Since I'm p4 this is ok except I don't want my body to get used to less calories! Sooo ramping it up today with some extra hwc in my coffee and a big dollop of pb in my protein shake Have a great morning!

ok, TODAY i am frustrated with the scale. up 1.2 from yesterday (1.6 above LDW, still in window) now, calorie wise i probably pushed the envelope...but it was with MEAT mostly??

b -- small apple, 3 eggs, 1T butter on top of eggs, coffee with hwc
l -- 8oz hamburger (73/27, all i had), strawberries (200 g maybe a little more), couple pieces of my coco-crack.
s -- iced coffee made with instant coffee, 1 cup sf almond milk, 2.5 T hwc, toranis syrup, ice, couple more pieces coco-crack
supper -- grilled zucchini, sirloin steak (quite a bit of steak, but it was fairly lean), a couple pieces coco-crack, small custard cup of whipped cream.

lots of water during the day.

all legal, all stuff i have eaten before. could it have just been too many calories?? this frustrates me as i read others that have pushed the envelope with worse foods and LOSE the next day.

thoughts?

good morning everyone!
just thought i would share some success with my first GY correction day. i hit 141.2 LDW on 6/29 and have held steady since then hovering around 1.5 above that weight. yesterday i got on the scale and it said 144.6! the night before i had wings and some beer, stayed low carb but woke up feeling very bloated and generally not so good.
so i muscled up and went to trader joes to get some GY, and throughout the day ate my 32 oz plus 6 oz of raspberries (on sale, strawberries werent). i drank tons of tea and water yesterday and woke up to...139.6!!! 5 full pounds!! i cannot believe it but am super happy.
hope everyone is having as great a morning as me!

Well, add me to those who are frustrated today. I gained 0.8 and have to do a steak day today. However, my blood sugar came down to 130. I ate eggs at breakfast and was still feeling full by lunch time, 4 hours later. Then I tried eating chicken for lunch and could not finish the meal. I swelled up and my stomach started hurting about an hour later, so it was clear that I am still reacting to chicken (and probably a little less so to eggs). Sigh.

I did have more calories yesterday (2,000, according to ******), but they were 70% fat and I only had 13 g effective carbs, so still trying to figure things out. My diabetic diet books should be here in a couple of days and I hope they help me get a handle on just how to put the right elements together.

Steak day today and no more chicken for the foreseeable future. According to D'Adamo's Blood Type diet, chicken and eggs are no-nos for people with B blood type, and it looks like he is right. Sigh again.

Onward through the fog...

Which books did you order? When my DD was diagnosed with her type 1 diabetes (she is 10, diagnosed 4 months ago) we got "Blood Sugar 101" (Jenny, the author is a poster here on LCFs); "Diabetes Solution" by Dr Bernstein and also "Life Without Bread". All great books and they came highly suggested by those on the diabetes forum here on LCFs. If you have not visited that section, here is where I post and get info for my DD: Dr. Bernstein's Plan...and Some Adjustments I would love to have you join us over there I have gotten some good advice from those folks.

Oh, I have to mention this also....I have done the best (lost the most weight) doing a GY day as well. I have lost 3 lbs--but I never ever have lost 5. That is fantastic

I ordered both of Bernstein's books ("The Diabetes Solution" and "The Diabetes Diet") after Jonny Bowden's comment that if he were diabetic, that is the program he'd be on. He also said Bernstein is the go-to guy for anything about diabetes.

Once I have read those books, I may take a look at the diabetes forums, but right now P3 and trying to sort all of this out is all I can handle.

My food allergies and autoimmune tendencies get in the way of everything else I might want to do, so I am working on those now, and eventually hope to understand what I can do across the board for all of this -- weight, diabetes, and feeling/functioning well again. The autoimmune tendency destroys my own hormones and neurotransmitters, so for example, even if my thyroid is putting out enough hormone, if I am destroying it, it won't be effective. Taking more hormone would not change that picture. I have to get at the root of the problem and get my system to stop doing what it's doing. Long story. My doctor suggested that I am destroying my own insulin when I last saw him, so that really messes me up, too.

Bernstein was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (an autoimmune condition, BTW) at the age of 12 and that's what led him to take the path he took after that. From the reviews I saw of his books, his program does get the results I want to see, but until I see what the program actually is, I can't try it for myself. It would be incompatible with P2, so I will have to make a decision on which way to go after I see how he puts the pieces together. P2 is low-calorie, but it is not as low carb as Bernstein's program requires.

FWIW, in addition to Type 1 diabetes and situations like my generally overreactive immune system, MS and lupus are also autoimmune conditions. In MS, one destroys the myelin sheath that protects and shields their nerves, so the nerves can't send the signals they are designed to send to the muscles they communicate with.

Abby, your happiness sounds like me when I fit into the smaller size jeans. It was the single most joyful moment in the weight-loss aspect of my life this year.

Scale said two pounds up this morning. And know what? I am convinced it's stress. Have had a LOT going on. Over the weekend I drank hard liquor on Sunday, and since have been quite stressed and while I eat almost exclusively P3 type foods, I haven't been paying attention at all.

Will weigh one more time and if I'm still up, I think I'll do a steak day just to stay on top of things.

Will I ever be comfortable with P4? With maintenance? I talk a big game. Ms "push the calorie envelope". How about throwing some more carbs in there Miss Big Talker? How about some bread? Some bananas? Beans? Whole grain pasta? When I think of those things, I cringe.

I know in other areas of my life I have issues with freedom. When I think of incorporating in those healthy foods, (and I know that doing that is in my future), I associate it with the stress, with the DECADES of writing down points, tracking, logging, analyzing, and feeling frustrated. I admit, I don't want to leave the HIGH of feeling and being thin AND eating all I want! I will have to get back to thinking, to balancing, to micro-managing. I am so very extremely burned out on micro-managing my weight. I still bristle at the notion.

OK - I'm exaggerating. I'm doing the all-or-nothing thinking thing. "STEP AWAY FROM THE MASCARPONE CHEESE RED, AND HAVE THE BAKED POTATO"
