What do you do with all the clothes you can no longer wear? All of the other times I hung on just in case I regained, but this time I AM determined to never go back where I have come from!!! I thought about sending them to a consignment shop, but is it worth the headache? Does anyone know?

Sherri, like you I hung on to clothes from sizes 20 to (eek) 32 to always have them at hand during my weight fluctuations. I think they served as a crutch to not be as serious about weight loss as I should have been. I also tinkered with the notion of consignment or even eBay, but... here was my thinking - to put a dollar value on them made that mental attachment all the stronger. I ended up donating 18 garbage bags to Goodwill in May. Many items still had tags on them! It was SO HARD but I needed that mental purging and dis-association in order to take this weight loss seriously.

Awesome!!! I realized this morning getting ready for church that I really have to be back through my closet. The first three things I put on were way too big. Gave me a nice feeling of "YAY!!!! It's working!!"

Congratulations, Stephanie!! Be proud, you are doing it. It is so motivating to read about other's successes!!

I have never gotten rid of any clothes with any other diet. But this time I am determined that as I shrink--so shall my closet (and drawers, and baskets full, and tubs) of all imaginable sizes. It will be tough--I have hoarding tendencies--but Good Will and the Salvation Army will benefit from this diet.

I predict that in a few weeks you're going to be posting, "My Size 14 Pants Don't Fit!"

but for a good reason . . . because your size 12s fit!

I was a MAJOR hoarder, not to mention clothes junkie. Anyone ever been to Lane Bryant where ALL their clearance was $6.99? Anyone ever walk out having spent over $500 on JUST $6.99 clearance items???

I'd buy no matter the size, just to have them so cheap. Unfortunately though, I never bought SMALLER sizes! Or else I would not be having a clothing shortage NOW!

Congrats on the smaller pants! I'm packing stuff up to take to Goodwill. Already down 2 pants sizes in a month's time, and I don't want to keep the stuff that's too big!!!!!

Thanks everyone! My husband and I cleaned out our third bedroom and threw out twelve bags of garbage! We're not hoarders, just lazy, but we're going to do a better job of doing spring cleaning at the very least.

Thanks Ladies!

Thanks Viloet and Lilac!

I am in the process of bagging them up. It is sooooo mental, I was using them as a crutch all of this time too and no more..NO MORE I tell you...lol. My mantra is I will never go there again, I will never go there again..... There are so many people with needs I feel good about donating but then we are not wealthy and I have to replace some things as I run out of clothes too, that's the only reason I was thinking consignment. I ust am so busy that I see it more of a hassle than help. So, on the way to work tomorrow ?I will drop them off and be done

Thanks for welcoming me in...a girl needs all the support she can find!

I know you have to replace them soooo... check out the Goodwill and learn when their half price color tag sale happens and buy a few items here and there. Also, most stores now are having great clearance sales on summer items. I buy a lot on kohls.com, combining coupon codes for free shipping and anywhere from 15% to 30% off, including clearance. The deals are out there, ya just gotta look!

I'm cleaning out my closet this weekend and donating clothes I don't wear anymore. I still have my pre-pregnancy wardrobe....all 6's and 8's.

I don't own any size 12's...the next size I have are 10's and then 8's. I went to the Goodwill tonight and got two pairs of size 14 pants, they fit great and they were only $6.99 per pair! . I'll wear them until I get into my 10's. The size 18's I was wearing looked like parachute pants they were so big. None of my co-workers have commented on my weight loss yet, but it may be because they don't want to imply that I was fat before? Heck, I'm getting there, but am still fat now. Not for long though...

Congrats!!! I know how great it feels to see your sizes going down, down, down.. Today I put on a size medium dress and it still amazes me because I started out a 22 or higher. Keep up the good work!! I am another one that needs to go through her warddrobe and give away a lot of clothes I never wore.. I have lots with the tags on still!

Thank you and Congratulations to you too! We need to go through our son's closet too - he still has clothes from when he was six and up and he'll be twelve tomorrow. The Goodwill will have a field day when I drive up with tons of clothes.

It's nice to know that someone else can benefit from them.

Just gave a big bag away to a friend and she said most of them fit her!!! Win/Win! So glad for me and so glad for her! She is losing weight too though. She has lost nine lbs so she may be bagging them up and passing them on to someone else soon!

Wow!!! Congrats!!

I had to do some closet shopping on Saturday. My clothes were falling off of me. I found so much that I could get into that I haven't in about five years or more. I was daring and decided to go into Goody's (lives in a small town not much here ) just to see what they had. I could never get my thighs or butt in anything they had before. I found two pairs of capri pants that I fell in love with. I took a gulp and grabbed my dream size of 12 in a brand that runs small. I then took a deep breath and proceeded to the fitting room that I could at least get my thighs in them even if they wouldn't button. I tried them on and did a jig right then and there. They fit EVERYWHERE with some strinking room. I about passed out I nearly knocked people out to get to the register to buy them. I think I was almost skipping to my car in the parking lot. I washed and dried them and they shrunk perfectly to fit me like I was measured. I wore one pair Monday and was about dancing at work every time I thought about it. Tomorrow I will wear the others.

Yay you! I have a closet full of size 7/8 from before our son was born (I was always thin up until I got pregnant and he just turned twelve) The next size I have are 10's and no 12's so I may either wear these 14's until I need a belt, or buy a pair of 12's at the Goodwill.

Thank you! A belt was no longer working for the ones I had. I would have needed bungee cords to hook over my shoulders like suspenders I have never been as small as you were unless you count when I was ummmmmmmmmmmmm NINE I can't wait to hear your clothing story when you go get some.
